It has the feeling of a bowl game. Like that feeling of can Littrell get us over the hump this time? It’s not as Wyoming is struggling but man do we need to be nervous and energetic. I hope to see fire level intensity on that sideline: SF 49’s style, SMU style, UTSA style. Optics and mission planning and energy visible throughout. GMG

Morris needs to own the Caponi hire
NM Green replied to Tom McKrackin's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree with the approach noted. I don’t want upheaval as much as I want 3-1 and 4-1 before we even get to October. I’m pissed about Saturday but I’m ready to get that fight out on Saturday on the Cowboys. This week will fly by and there is much for everyone to prepare for. Us fans how to be raging inside that stadium, loud and intense the whole game. The team how to get and build a lead and make them play catchup. GMG -
Show up cranky, pissed and wholly embarrassed from what happened on the Plains. Tech fans were gristly and couldn’t get enough beat down vibes out of them. That Washington State debacle had everyone from Sweetwater to Clovis in the mood to rumble. We need to be seething with get right game fumes all week. GMG

These posts are sobering and true. I would love to see UNT commercials and marketing represent our distinguished alumni. Visualizeextreme professionalism, potent influence. You know that change the world stuff all other universities seem to preach. We are way beyond being just a first generation prep degree. We will always have those success stories but we have professionals working on the world stage. Some of those billboard students wow. Who is President Keller? What do we think he believes? How do we think he will position our fine university? GMG

I know it’s early but the results seem different this year. And there is more interesting to come. 1. It feels like there are more blowouts. So many 50, 60 point romps with a 70 and 80 point output. This isn’t good for the sport. Tech’s stadium began clearing out at halftime. Low energy post game vibe around the stadium too. We had some good travel following but how long will fans pour out money to travel where this seems to be happening more. You had the NIU and Toledo upsets of Notre dame and Mississippi State but it feels like games were more competitive in previous years. 2. I do like the ACC after dark. Freaked me out when I heard that tagline and saw the San Francisco skyline, and then it dawned on me oh yeah, Cal is in the ACC. 3. After driving back from Lubbock I turned on the tube and saw Indiana vs UCLA. I thought, how did that dog meat game get on tv? I mean seriously what a horrible matchup then I realized it’s a freaking conference game. Ugh. Boring boring boring. I don’t need to see Rutgers Washington or Maryland ucla. Come to think about it anything ucla. 4. It will be interesting to psycho analyze Sooner fan this week. There is a good shot they get curb stomped on Saturday in Norman. I went to LSU vs Tennessee in Baton Rouge a couple of years ago. LSU fan before the game knew they were going to get beat. Did not feel good about the game. Sure enough the Vols stomped them on cue. This is new territory for OU and Texas. It ain’t happening to the Horns this year but getting their fanbases used to reality in the sec will be wild to observe. This ain’t no Big 12 anymore. 5. I am rooting for Cal to beat FSU to set that Miami vs Cal matchup in Berkeley in a couple of weeks. That would be an awesome after dark special. Already excited for Saturday. It’s prep time for rebound week. Savor the flavor of football season. GMG

Can this coaching staff motivate a team?
NM Green replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Look, who on our schedule to come has superb offenses? Because when I look into the future I don’t see any. Tech made me nervous before the game not because of their defense but because they could score more than us. If we need to keep up we’re doomed. If they need to keep up with us we’re in decent shape. We have almost beat Memphis once or twice and we match up well with them. We’ll get them one of these days. We play them too close to not close the deal one season. UTSA looks beatable. Tulsa and Temple are struggling. Wyoming can’t feel excited with their start and one of their studs got ejected for targeting and will miss the first half next week. Again if we get up on other cats we have a chance to win. It might be 52-48 but we can beat them. Let’s start with next week by brining the house from tailgate to the Alma Mater. I’m not sunshining it. I just think we have a chance at some wins in the coming weeks. GMG -
That is why an athletic town hall with President Keller would go a long way to keeping fans engaged. This fanbase has been through a grinder. There are always unknowns and dramatic cliff falls. There have been some ups and Grant was able to bust through the expected. But he’s the only one. It’s quite strange indeed. If all these schools around us, even those in nearby states can experience football euphoria and we sit in this recruiting pool and can’t even win a bowl in a decade. It’s hard to be this predictable and bad. Yes it was blowout Saturday across the country, but the shambolic performance was not expected. GMG

Oregon State AD: Pac-12 will look to add new schools quickly
NM Green replied to NT80's topic in Conference ReAlignment
I feel the PAC move happens this week. But I also feel like Memphis and Tulane have showed little interest in ever being in a west focused league. Same with South Florida. Now look at the results. The PAC schools aren’t banging it out of the park. The AAC schools are performing equal to them if not slightly better with Memphis’ run. Plus Memphis gets all the right publicity playing in the central and eastern time zones. I’m starting to think the pac may have challenges luring the AAC’s top teams. Same with Tulane they get good pub playing in New Orleans and in the central time zone. I still think the pac expands fast and puts pressure on the invited to accept quickly or they will continue to hunt. GMG -
🔥🔥🔥Official UNT vs Texas Tech IN-GAME DISCUSSION🚨🚨🚨
NM Green replied to Cooke County Kid's topic in Mean Green Football
Texas State and UTSA would love us to drop football. More recruits for them. Smu and TCU would love us to drop football. Cede the region to them and more recruits. How about clean house and build it right? AIM higher. GMG -
It’s funny because I think we’ll be 4-1 before the wheels get wobbly. I still want Keller to lay out his plans and I want big upgrade performances out of those 2. We’re slipping behind less equipped schools. Unacceptable and not fitting of our profile. GMG

Moaning and groaning about Morris is hanging in the weeds which is what is appropriate on a day like this. But I want to know what President Keller wants. Do we know what kind of athletic department he wants and believes is worthy for UNT? I may have missed it but I don’t know and I hope it is world class. I believe and want UNT to be competing with peers that are Houston, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Kansas State…that is where I want my university to aim. What does he believe and want? Because he can hold Jared and Eric’s work accountable. my personal observations are that the football program shows development. Good on Eric. He needs to present a plan to seek out a first class DC who executes his desired style of D. Who is it and how much will it cost. Jared. Ive seen improvement in the Gameday experience. He needs to ignite the community more. Relationship building tactics planned. Community outreach efforts planned. Alumni engagement practices planned. Who oversees the NT Alumni what is the chain there? This weekend was a fail. I got meetup information late and location of the tailgate late. If this was on me and no one else had problems I’ll walk this back. But what about the Friday get together event? A rally of sorts. The breakfast party before the game. We tried sharing info at the hotel about the tailgate but didn’t have clear details. To me this was a missed opportunity on a major away game. President Keller that’s not world class. I won’t think UNT is not worthy or ever been deserving of this level of expectation. I’m looking to the future and what I want for my university. What does President Keller want. I hope it’s lofty. We are what the third or fourth largest university in Texas, we should be playing equal to our peers. We should not tolerate letting schools down south play above us in league. President Keller you’re up I can’t wait to support you and learn more. GMG

🔥🔥🔥Official UNT vs Texas Tech IN-GAME DISCUSSION🚨🚨🚨
NM Green replied to Cooke County Kid's topic in Mean Green Football
There will always be Portland state and everything else. Seriously. It’s a gut punch knowing UTSA probably gets the pac invite this week. Sick that that program flew right by. They can have even them and their ridiculous basketball program. We are still 2-1 after today. Going into a must rebound game next week. This will be the worst beat down we experience this year. The worst in person for a long time. Get through second half no injuries. Get Morris out of there. GMG -
🔥🔥🔥Official UNT vs Texas Tech IN-GAME DISCUSSION🚨🚨🚨
NM Green replied to Cooke County Kid's topic in Mean Green Football
Immense damage done to this program today at a critical time. Time to kill all PAC talk and get a win over Wyoming. Continue building this program for wins get bowl eligible and try to compete for AAC top of the league finishes. That’s still in our control and there is a lot of season left. we need to learn how to compete in the AAC from 1pm 9.14. GMG- 618 replies

It’s just so different today. The big west was at a point when these programs were startups in D1A. In 2024 they are solid programs with top level skins on the wall, national championship appearances and trophies, major bowl wins, awesome new facilities…. the distances and time zones are the same true, but every league has that interesting dynamic now exception SEC. gmg

I get juiced about the thought of SDSU CSU and BSU rolling into Denton for basketball tilts. GMG
-
My thoughts about them not taking all of the MWC is that they got who they want. Now it’s time to raid the AAC. If we stay put the AAC replenishes with Air Force (no brainer), Texas State (natural rival for UTSA Texas up and coming), New Mexico (natural bridge for AFA). GMG

UNLV and Nevada are not tied at the hip. They have only been conference mates for about a decade or little more. UNLV, Memphis South Florida, Tulane make most sense. All time zones covered. GMG

Eric Morris interview on Texas Tech Game
NM Green replied to Ross Hodgeson's topic in Mean Green Football
Yeah, Mom rocks. Green only peeps. GMG -
Just a few Gameday experience notes: 1. I noticed the conference flags were gone. Did we fail to get an Army flag in time. Did we have an smu burning ceremony I missed. Kidding. Living by smu I noticed they had the ACC flags flying off the east side of the stadium for their Friday night tilt. 2. The inside stadium bar area needs some help. Get a sponsor for it and have them take it up several notches. Make that pavilion a fun zone for partygoers. It’s a large space with some solid football viewing potential. It could be elevated to see over the picture takers when the game starts but overall I bought a Reserve drink, hung by the railing and watched the first quarter. Now the sponsor part has potential. Make it a party zone. Bring in a dj and performers. Think Nikki Beach where performers, roam out every 20 minutes and get the crowd fired up, engaged. These performers are sometimes dancers, sometimes runway models, sometimes musicians playing solos to the beat. Love the Nikki Beach concept because it’s high octane festive sexy and fun. The Terrace could be the pregame party inside the stadium before the game starts and social deck after the game begins. Now for a complaint or curiosity. Why can’t you flow in and out with drinks? is it a liquor license thing? I was fine staying in the zone to drink my cocktail and watch the game but people on the outside were telling their friends on the inside to buy their next beer outside the terrace so they could roam around. It felt a bit restrictive and I was just curious why? All pro stadiums sell drinks in the corridors. UNLV has a slick Jack Daniel’s installation bar with tv’s showing games inside the Thomas and Mack. Just curious why the setup. I felt the Gameday experience was good. The music, announcer band and dancers seemed to connect yesterday. That has been a challenge in the past. They kept the entertainment moving. The game wasn’t but the pop moments from the various efforts flowed. The laser light show on the field was cool. But they should have instructed fans to go up in the stands for best viewing. Good job UNT, supporters groups and fans. Beat Tech. GMG

The only thing is Idaho played a relatively close game with Oregon and beat Wyoming. I think Idaho could be a sleeper good program and Wyoming will give us a test in Denton. But first let’s get them wrecked. GMG

The only old school stuff I like is Marching Eagle and I love how they utilize his head image on the Jumbotron alongside the SOW. We’ve really hit on that renewal. I’d like the next scrappy uni to look crisper stronger. GMG

Mean Green Maniacs making an imapct
NM Green replied to cousin oliver's topic in Mean Green Football
I love it. That kid wearing the “Leader” shirt looked up front first row. Do we have select “yell leaders” that charge up the group? If so, that is outstanding. Very similar to Capos that juice up supporters groups in soccer. I was impressed to see the hill pretty much empty when I rolled up shortly after the game started. Great job Maniacs! GMG -
