  1. If you can't see the standard you can't be the standard. Littrell is telling everyone in Green to have expectations. Love the hunger. Go Green Go White
  2. It was boring football. Just like nobody can blast you out of being Debbie downer I am solely in the camp of wanting exciting football. You see five star is about performance and drama. Littrell will hopefully win with drama. Fritz wins with boring football. We get big 12 cast offs and others that want to play modern football in green and that is what keeps me flying in from far away to watch the Mean Green. fritz football bores me. Throw me some Oregon tcu and Baylor style football any day. Welcome to Denton. Go Mean Green!!!!!
  3. Uhhgggggh no triple option. I felt like I was watching a more polished mac offense. At least ga southern had an identity and I am glad they won but keep that offense out of Denton. We live in big 12 country and am glad we will play big 12 style football. Go Mean Green!!!!!
  4. I did the same thing that Rudy did and get nearly as many FIU emails as I do North Texas. Bringing up ideas is not about slamming on the Athletic Department. It is a new day in Mean Green land and I am excited about the future. But these types of communications of ideas is what is severely lacking and always has been. I get UNLV emails weekly letting me know what is happening with the Rebels in whatever sports are on deck for that week. The other thing I absolutely love is their "Meet your Rebel" email. I get a pic of a profiled UNLV Rebel highlighting his or her past accomplishments or introducing me to them if they are a new team member. BBALL is their bread and butter in Vegas so I get a solid 12 weeks of education leading me into the season. I haven't been a Rebel season ticket holder in over 3 years but got an email as recently as this past week, connecting me to the UNLV community. Many ideas come out on this board. We all have our inspector hats on when visiting another sports venue. That is why this A Department needs to figure out how to allow ideas to flourish in a safe manner without being shot down. Some are not doable in their perfect form but perhaps an adjustment of some sort. Our Athletic Department used to feel more inclusive in the past so it can be done but it starts with a reach out and request to know "how are we doing." Look at Tripadvisor and Yelp. My hotel clients watch that like hawks and know what they hit and miss within seconds of the effort. I used to employee a staff member at my hotel whose job was solely to manage the Facebook page and other communications. She became the virtual face of the organization responding to every single comment positive or negative and this was 6 years ago when social media was stirring but not driving company responses like I see it having an impact today. Finally being a Five Star experience can happen in Denton. The philosophy of the best of the best in the world I am privileged to work with build extremely guest-centric experiences. They don't want the guest to have to lift a finger or do any work during their visit. They pride themselves on having proactively thought of all of your needs in advance and do the unexpected. That phone call after the OU game is unexpected. You had never experienced that before and now you feel appreciated for your visit, time and money included. That didn't cost much either. The Houston Astros do this remarkably well. I bought tickets to go down to a game a few years back and was followed up with a call asking about my experience at Minute Maid park. This wasn't an automated call but a gentleman who acted like my personal concierge. He asked if I wanted to buy season tickets and after learning I was a Ranger fan made notes and asked permission to call me the next season regarding the future matchups. Somewhere in there he learned that though I was solo on that first trip I wanted to take some friends with me next time. The next year he called and told me about the scheduled matchups that season and offered his assistance for when me and my buddies come down. Fantastic. This dude made me king for the call, stirred my interest to round up the crew and was ready to set me up for a fun weekend down in H Town. Based on my background when I get WOWED that means you have hit a new high. Oh and they never take a play off. That flag story at the top of the stadium was much deeper than not flying the flags on the last home game of the season. It revealed a gap of opportunity to me that exists in our current state and I never want any employee at the University I treasure to play the victim card of "You don't know how hard it is here." That is yet another thing I don't see at Five Star experiences around the globe. The best just figure out a way to make "something" happen. Merry Christmas everyone. It is going to be an amazing year head. GMG
  5. At the top of the Killerfrogs site is an interview with TCU's AD, Chris Del Conte. He was being interviewed about the new basketball arena opening and TCU's incredible accomplishments since his arrival in 2007. I didn't watch the whole interview but what stuck out was when he mentioned that in 6 years he helped get TCU into the Big 12, get their football stadium redone and built the new basketball arena. I particularly love where they placed their Hall of Fame, in a location where everyone can see it often. Could we do something like that with the Alumni Pavilion to make it more of a draw - "Here friend, let me show you some history about North Texas." The other thing he mentioned was his strategy for R&D included stealing as many good well executed ideas at other universities. He spends half a day on every trip examining what other programs do well and sees how he can integrate them at TCU. I love that idea and I would love to see UNT have a team dedicated to seeing what works at our level, higher levels and lower levels from game day experiences to promotional efforts, communication strategies and facility logistics. I would LOVE to see the Green Brigade have their own scouting group of effective marching band efforts and traditions that stir the energy of fans in bball venues and stadiums around the land. The last thing that I heard that I loved was his belief in what his responsibility is and that included setting his coaches up with the tools to be successful, but also igniting and rallying the community. When RV retires/leaves our next AD needs to really WIN right here. Imagine what could be in the land of GREEN if they would get the masses on the sidelines more involved. In fact, many of us see phenomenal ideas in action around the country when we take in game days and see what top programs do. If the Mean Green would even set up a virtual suggestion box or allow the thousands of eyes ears and motivated to offer suggestions and report findings now you have mobilized the Nation. This is what Chris has done so successfully at TCU and could be replicated with the right ignition switch in Denton. Give it a look over on the Killerfrogs site. He also said they realized after the SWC breakout they needed to earn their new desired place, and they have. GMG
  6. Just in, MWC not expanding. Crush the pic and fry the rice. Green white coming! GMG
  7. Oh the entire football world is about to get a personal introduction to Mean Green Football. We are coming Green and White. Ride the chopper, we are going to fly into a Big 6 Bowl before the pony trots to the promise land. GMG
  8. Way off bro. I actually made almost all home and away games and our team was salty. We got some teams at the right time but we still went into Ruston and Hattiesburg and wiped the the floor with them. They were not squeak by wins that team was the most legit squad I have witnessed in my 29 years of following them. Oh yeah we also sucker punched our presidents school for the fun of it in a New Year's Day bowl game in the Cotton Bowl. flukes like that don't just occur without some luck strength will and motivation. Long live that great team. Littrell will bring us our next WOW! gmg
  9. This seems like such a fake article. Utep could be a target but she ain't your old Mwc anymore. The AAC is superstrong cusa is building and Mwc seems stagnant. I also have heard Utep likes playing the Texas schools. Rice ain't going byu isn't coming, Mwc is fishing for interest but will come up empty Imo. Now if Mwc made a play for rice Utep kfc and unt then you have war between cusa and Mwc which has never seen to favor either. When rice doesn't go u make play for Texas state. That could happen because I think those 4 could be lured. But still worth the conflict? Rice will be best served to wait for Houston to go to big 12 and take their place in AAC. GMG
  10. I am excited that BYU vs Utah will take place again in the LV Bowl. I love following BYU and hope they can keep up with the Pac 12 Utes. It is a shame Texas and A&M is no longer something I can look forward to. GMG
  11. I would take four wins and call that a successful season. Make one of them the utkfc And I will feel like we are bowling! When does the schedule come out? I need to plan trips home from overseas and where will we spend thanksgiving weekend? San Antone again? gmg
  12. This need is screaming for a heartfelt sensible effort to come in and compete. Joint company venture anyone? They are hateful and I have had my run ins with the criminals at partially filled apogee before. There are so many that could do this better. gmg
  13. I like both Meacham and Littrell but I have to admit that Litrells schemes seem to fit what North Texas football does better. At least those bleeps we did well. I got excited about the air raid from tcu but the surprise multiple looks Littrell brings will be fun to watch. We will have no mercy Bethune. Now please make the announcement soon! gmg
  14. Unemployed unemployed for what like 48 hours. Good for Miami but strong would have worked serious magic there. gmg
  15. Something that bugged me past weekend was the fact that our conference flags weren't even flying above the Wing Zone. As a standards guy that is unacceptable. I deserve a gameday experience and more importantly this is about STANDARDS. Flags were already packed up for the season. You can never take a play off when performing at the top level. What lazy butt in the athletic department decided, "We don't need these flags today." I was ticked that Canales decided "Everyone needs to play," instead of "We need to beat another in state rival today." I train top experiences around the world and a common theme is that you never take a play off. You don't take the shortcut because everyone is worthy of your best. UNT acted like people didn't pay to be there this past weekend. You show that gameday experience to the visiting fans. Now all of this minus the play is on RV and dang do I want a guy or gal in there with energy, high standards and a relentless attitude to put on a beautiful gameday face whether we are 1-10 or 10-1. GMG
  16. I can't believe some people want less football. I love the bowls, but I am also someone who sat down this past weekend to watch WKU vs Marshall and the Southern Miss La Tech replay. I can't get enough college football - the season is too short. GMG
  17. I could tell early on rv was never presidents guy. The tension was fierce and they rarely showed up at the same events like utsa and rice. Smastrek doesn't do ineptness. let Rick pick one last coach perceived to have picked him then ride into sunset on 12.31. Very smart and clever. gmg
  18. After D'Andre this summer I am a nervous wreck. I hope Littrell is already signed because I bet UNC wins this weekend and Littrell will get pounced on by some big powers leaving us completely empty handed. Nervous. GMG
  19. And he Mean Joe Green story sticks. Marketing 101 keep it simple for the low information broadcasters. Then do trivia on it like this: is it smokey bear or smokey the bear... gmg
  20. Playing with the Big boys now. Stakes are raised. GMG
  21. Fair points to consider for sure. But when you get that offensive genius who has crafted one of the most revered energizing forms of play at the top level you have to listen and potentially take that risk. Meacham mentored under the Lovell Edwards of our time. I think he is worth the serious consideration. GMG
  22. Agree to a degree. Mix that energy with some maturity and he could become a productive member in our society. I want an arrogant cocky pilot but most professions require the political magician which always finds a way to get his or her own way while appearing to be incredibly competent and giving. You no, no dead bodies in the side of the road as you charge to be heard and get your way. gmg
  23. He acted like this was a scrimmage instead of a game against an in state rival. I have never seen a staff just throw the finger to the fans since the Dickey Days. I have witnessed seasons ending in a novella style drama far too many times. Let the drama reside in Baton Rouge. Entertaining game, disappointed in Chico and ready to purge that team in Green. A new day is dawning and I look forward to a bright green future. GMG
  24. I maybe i could warm to him. But feels like mac 2.0
  25. F u 90 you are not the AD just a disgruntled fan. But it up support the Green if you are really a fan a cheer in the seniors to a victory. gMG
