I can’t wait to return to the blessed soil of the USA to chat with my blue blood SEC friends to see how they feel about this whole playoff thing. It has given access to a host of programs they are so uninterested in. Is the country equally uninterested? I think so. Boise or a G5 was never supposed to have a home game and bye. the Big 12 is a glorified G5 without Texas and OU. the ACC can still save itself if Clemson wins. Miami was a paper tiger all year. the playoff needs Alabama, a villain, in the playoff or this could be a historically boring ending to the college football season. The Big and SEC need to break off to preserve college football interest in the national stage. I’ll always be interested at whatever level UNT settles in at which will be a hodgepodge of Big 12 programs and some stronger AAC. just my take. Can’t wait for the chat with Tiga Bait and Rockytop. I want the New Mexico Bowl so just get us there. I want some 10,000 Waves and Meow Wolf in Santa Fe, luminario decorations on top of the hotels for the holidays, powder snow, roaring fireplaces and holiday craft cocktails. Throw in some green chile, lobo hoops if they are in town, and bang we have a destination bowl. GMG

I disagree that it was a mistake by the Big 12. They could have them tomorrow but don’t want them in their league. They fit the ACC better anyway. B12 is not crying with ASU U of A UU and Colorado. Those are some potent all around programs. GMG

Maybe Gus got wind that FSU is close to one of the top tier leagues. Lashlee doesn’t strike me like that and I think he hangs out unless a top 2 league member calls. Anyone with the ego of a coach is going to want to land there. Even a tame Lashlee will want to be tested at the best. Perhaps when Tulane and Memphis or South Florida come in as replacements he bolts. SMU is in good shape despite few programs thrilled about sharing a league with them. GMG

Elko will be fine. Texas had the superior team this year. A true title contender. I’ve never liked the horns but for some reason this team is interesting. I still think they get smoked by Georgia but they could win it all. Day should go to Florida or FSU where the pressures will be different. He’s not gonna win the natty this year and the nuts are going to march torches to his office. GMG

I’m not sure I like this playoff format in its first year run. The regular season seems mute and bowl games are losing their bite. That might be more portal though. If only 3 SEC teams get in that will be their catalyst to form the upper tier league. It looks like 4 Big 3 SEC 2 ACC 1 G5 1 big 12 and Notre same. That’s not how the powers planned this to work out. It is supposed to be 4 and 4 at the top and 1 from everyone else. No way Tulane gets in though I think they’re better than Boise. The big dogs left out of the party are already tuning out, see LSU and Bama fan. With that said I still want to go bowling. GMG

I would personally build the pageantry scene like an SEC school. Put some beauties in the stands with Poms or something. TCU has the dancers in boots. Every SEC team has a gorgeous squad in the band section. I know we are a hate the norm school but surely you could find 10 stand dancers to participate for 7 games next season. Right? We are North Texas. Hello. GMG

The biggest thing is coordination. There are moments when the band can influence. At kickoffs on 2nd down on 3rd down. I’m talking constant playing. to hell with the music on the board. You do you. 3 major rituals needed in ‘25: 1. 3rd down pound. They already play this but sometimes on first sometimes on second sometimes when the other team has the ball it fees like. No consistency. 2. 3rd quarter to 4th quarter transition. See BYU football and basketball at a point in the second half. 3. Go Mean Green banner unfurl including shake down. Needs to be coordinated with band. Let’s do this in section 105 and 106 - more reliable attendance every game. We don’t need the students to figure out how to make this happen. Get the infantry to organize it. Where do I send money for the banner. I still want a standing section with railings only. but now I’m just being greedy. Make ‘25 MG football exciting again. Never turn down college football. There will never be such a thing as too much college football in my book. But win on Saturday then get shipped out of state to a bowl game we won’t have many fans. This team needs to escape us. We might set ourselves on fire with a blowout to Texas state in Frisco. Win then send us to Boston or Boca. This team cannot be around us fans right now. GMG

Are any of these fired coaches defensive minded. They know the AAC and could focus on one angle of the incredible game. GMG

I’d take a shot against Florida over Texas State. Tough to see us beating the bobcats. Florida would at least be a fun game. GMG

I’m such a believer that EM has to trust this guy. I like that EM seems to really love this job and wants UNT to succeed. His early legacy is pulsing. For synergy you need belief and energy. I would look at his previous stops and studs along that tree line. Washington State is doing well. EM seems nicely connected. We have a sweet offer too. We are basically in the ditch right now. You get to coach in the American. You live DFW. There will be good talent available soon. Jared will be heavily involved. GMG
