I love all of these little different things Wren is organizing. It cannot just be about the game. Wins help but fun and interesting builds anticipation and loyalty. For example have a Latin American game. Make it Mexico focused and have it in the middle of September. Celebrate heritage day and have some traditional foods and dances. But you can't just have the day without the relationships. Have a TWU day in October celebrating women and fighting breast cancer. Have a thanksgiving drive or storm relief support day for our friends in Beaumont and others affected by Harvey Irma and Maria. The battle flag giveaway gets butts in seats earlier. A fully uniformed band making a grand entrance gets butts in seats earlier. I bet you seat more raggedy Ann and Andy this weekend though all bands in the land are fully uniformed by week 3. We are in week 4. Build the relationships with the communities then celebrate them. GMG

I saw score updates from afar and didn't have to weather the beating in person. My outside the fishbowl looking in: 1. Doesn't sound like we sustained injuries which is great! 2. Team didn't quit even when I did and went back to watching osu vs ou on the big screen. 3. Smu is going to give tcu a game this year. They may not beat them as it appears that all 3 metro teams are improved. Even smu fan is saying we improved and will compete for cusa. 4. Smu may be the best team we play this year. I actually think it is harder to play your mirror. Smu and UNT seem to be very similar in styles. Iowa could be there for the taking and could smu 2017 beat Iowa 2017? I say yes sir. So why can't we? Go give the flying high Hawkeyes heck next weekend! 5. I think utsa is primed to win this league. It will be fun to welcome them to Denton. It's still going to be a fun run! GMG

Wow. Emotional post alert. This was maybe the most awesome post ever on the Gomeangreen.com board, and I've been on it a long time. Thank you and your University for your class and commitment. It was nice to see fans having respect for each other. It was great seeing fans celebrate their teams and loved ones on a September evening in Apogee. This was more than just 1-0. This game was needed for a lot of reasons way beyond money and scoreboard. It was needed for a sense of relief and support. Seeing the Green Brigade play the Lamar song at the end of the game and the sign reading Texas Strong brought tears and emotions to the surface. All I kept hearing in my head was "Texans supporting Texans," that now infamous slogan ringing in my head. I met some Lamar family members after the game and they were so incredibly kind. They had no idea what they were going back to and when, but there they were smiling and connecting with other humans on a beautiful Denton night. Though this might not be a popular idea, I wouldn't even mind giving Lamar a home game one day. It doesn't have to be next year or in 5 years. But we will always be connected because of that First Saturday in September 2017. All the best the rest of the way. God bless on the healing and rebuild. I was listening to Wren's interview on the ticket and he personally bought Craig a Mean Green shirt at the end of the day because the alumni would like to see him get some Green on. Wren did say he fully expects it to hit eBay but at least he didn't let him forget his roots. GMG

We should set up an effort for fans to help this weekend. The shelter in downtown dallas needs new socks, underpants and money to keep the shelters going long after Harvey moves on. These people could be in shelters for weeks. Would love to see the AD put a shout out to students and fans to bring donation items in exchange for a free coke or my coupon could be for a beer, kidding. Get creative and bring bring a package of socks or underpants and $10 for a free ticket. Imagine if every game in Texas had such an effort this weekend. It could be a feel good supportive effort! I have always felt the fans dislike utsa and want to win the game more than the coaches and players do. If they do they do a dang good job holding in their disgust. Please players if you only win one game again this year you know who gets my vote. GMG

I'd love to see some Gomeangreen.com signs dropped around campus when kids are walking around at the start of football and basketball season inviting students to introduce themselves and get fired up about Mean Green football and basketball! Get our graphics guy involved and make it worth checking out! GMG
