Temple is going next just wait for it. AAC about to become a very different league. Build the brand the North Texas brand and angle towards the Mountain West. GMG

I do feel that UNT vs SMU is the rivalry of the future in the metro. TCU May drop them soon and this automatically becomes their cross town matchup. Further the AAC really needs to consider shrinking. Meaning have your programs not football impacted swing through DFW for 2 games over a long weekend. It’s makes sense to have UCF come play smu on Thursday and us on Saturday. It creates some efficiency for the whole league. Now that Grant has turned out Hoops into a player the MWC would be a serious approach. Yes it’s a football first culture but with programs like Nevada UNLV Boise And San Diego State in that league it could help elevate our improving basketball profile. Our football program would already slide in nicely out west. GMG

First of all, DFW North is growing into its own little Metro. Getting a player that could bring some of Dallas and Northern most Texas is not that crazy to think about. Little Elm, Frisco, Prosper...seem much more aligned in cultures than they do with Dallas proper. Denton's unique identity is being revealed year by year and presents as another culturally cool part of Texas. Second, I am tired of this supposed power SMU has over us. They don't own us and I don't think of them as over us at all any more. They can look down us from their imagination. I personally feel we have tremendous upside and are viewed as a program of the future. They seem like a program of the past to me. The AAC programs don't excite me that much either but they are perceived as a step up in conference. They fit our desired footprint, even though I wish Smastrek would convince others to head west to the MWC. You have Boise over there and UCF over there. I think Boise stirs more interest than UCF but we need an invite first. With this type of SMU respect we don't even deserve to share the same air with them. Times change, programs evolve and I refuse to see us as "behind" SMU the rest of my days. Show up with confidence and crush the presentation. Go Wren! GMG

I am just wondering if this triggers more. For example, would Temple consider going back to the Big East? UCONN playing Villanova, Providence...it just sounds right and makes sense. If they do the Indy thing would Temple consider the same. This could cause some serious upheaval in the AAC which leads to upheaval in CUSA. It is serious time to reset a new Texas/Southeast based league. GMG

What about utsa? Pains me to say those letters but would give smu and Houston another rival. GMG

Warning - all Over the board here: 1. When I hear 6.6 I always think, the antichrist was born this morning at 6am. I watched a lot of horror movies as a kid and Damien and the Omen’s series was one of my favorites. 2. There is only one D Day and the ceremonies this morning brought tears to my eyes. So powerful and I will try to stand at Freedoms Alter one day. 3. Very cool we have a some awesome publicity coming our way with Mason’s website launch. I feel a special season in Denton ahead. I am excited to believe in it, watch it, and live it with my family and friends. 4. How about some College Gameday pub! Remember a few years back when tcu was hot they sang them in the intro every Saturday morning. With a cool name, Heisman hopeful, let’s get Game Day to work us into the promo. They could do a lot with the name Mean Green and for several reasons we will be a Team to watch this fall! Lastly, none of this happens without our courageous heroes at Normandy. Wow the cowboys are the most boring team in the league. I wouldn’t wish that disaster on anyone especially my beloved Mean Green. Linehan Garrett are the reason my sundays are now reserved for EPL instead of the nfl. GMG

I just don’t hold as high of an opinion of the aac as some do. I think it’s an okay conference but dangerously close to a lateral move to me. It’s up but not the big Step I want for UNT. GMG

I agree that Houston seemed to go stale under Applewhite. Getting people into that stadium was a huge priority and holgerson gave them the juice they need. I also don’t think they will struggle like most first year coaches do in a new town because it’s an old town. They know each other and the curve will be shortened. That means there is a war scheduled for the end of September in Denton. I think this will be one of the toughest we’ve had in Apogee since opening. I hope MF brings some senior magic and the gigantic crowd in Mean Green will be celebrating deep into the last weekend of Sethtember. GMG

Buffalo was the first team remotely interesting to me because of their stud quarterback who ESPN loved. Of course no respect Troy don’t care and beat them like a drum. Their empty stadiums are often a product of a Tuesday or Wednesday game. Ours would be too if we had that requirement. Northern Illinois seems to have a nice following out of Chicago. The Mac has been screaming for a sexy playing type team for years. I too have trouble watching Mac games more than any other league. I find Appy state Arky state and goergia southern more interesting out of the Belt. Louisiana can be too but they mess up when they get the marquee opportunity- aka Boise. GMG

Littrell just increased his opportunities exponentially. Thank you Houston. Littrell and company come out and dismantle the Coogs and holgerson in September and it looks great on Littrell’s resume. The only gig I want Seth leaving for is Oklahoma or State. Other than that build the Beast and slay more giants. GMG

Major is a better coach than I thought he would be. This season is not enough to can him unless you know you have an upgrade available. I mean I guess it could happen, see Cross at UTA, but it seems shortsighted if he is not in the bag. That is why I think holgerson is a done deal. GMG

I think Houston has to know holgerson is pretty much theirs. That’s not a bad move and an upgrade in my opinion. Holgerson in Texas will be stout and all of a sudden that Houston game could get difficult again. GMG

That’s what makes that la tech monster so admirable. There was no keeping him off the field lighting up the rainbow warrior quarterback. Said it was one more opportunity to play with his brothers and get a W! Thats a warrior. Playing the game for the honor and fame, wait, stop! GMG

I can’t believe people complain about too much college football. I just can’t...I’m a junkie and love all of them. Will watch lower level playoffs, will tailgate at a spring game. Eat drinks sleep college sports and tomorrow old trafford. I do football 🏈 and futbol ⚽️. GMG

I applaud and must admit a bit of green envy at troys and la techs bowl seasons. THey are a very different season and both those teams rise up and show incredibly well. They look confident, poised, prepared and strong. You can see the opponent wilting as the game progresses. They mess you up physically and mentally. Eventually the other team starts backing down.
