I’m such a believer that EM has to trust this guy. I like that EM seems to really love this job and wants UNT to succeed. His early legacy is pulsing. For synergy you need belief and energy. I would look at his previous stops and studs along that tree line. Washington State is doing well. EM seems nicely connected. We have a sweet offer too. We are basically in the ditch right now. You know how they say to do some of different every year. Well in my almost 4 decades of Mean Green football I don’t remember the sustained collapse year. I’ve done the magical comeback year, the please let us go bowling with our slippery rock U victory and 5 wins season. I’ve seen us beat big boys and lose to cupcakes. I’ve seeing us get trashed by big boys and beat cupcakes. But I don’t recall a hot start followed by an epic collapse. I still think we get 2 more and go bowling but wow what a strange year. I stumbled upon my UNLV UNT pennant from the Heart of Dallas Bowl this afternoon and couldn’t believe we’ve been waiting 10 years for another bowl win. Wild. GMG

Yes it sucks. I can’t stand UTSA and it disgusts me that they flew right by us. I believe we will be attached to them and them to us for the foreseeable future. Oh well we’ll beat them in basketball. But they will always be perceived as the better program even when we eventually beat them a few years in a row. I do believe the losing in ‘24 is over for this team. Optimistic, sure. I don’t see ECU Temple and the bowl game as daunting as the last 4 games. San Antonio shouldn’t have been what it turned out to be, but was I surprised? No. They own us. They are the better program with a better history and more upside. But I still believe we beat a solid ECU team on Saturday and win in Philly. I think we win the Frisco Bowl too or wherever they get our 200 or 8,000 fans. The difference between a local bowl or not. Optimistic always. Realist yea. Beat ECU. GMG!

Yes Coach Leach called him elf. But only Coach Leach was allowed to call him that and I believe he called him elf once after getting out of a tight tackle and making a big play. Maybe Tommy was going for a little extra bit of dig. I personally think it sounds disrespectful but that’s just me. Back to the disaster. Coach continues to make some bizarre calls. I like points. Morris doesn’t have it right now. Would love to see a different quarterback get a chance. We have to score every drive. The defense is defensing it again. GMG

My disappointment with the offense was that they changed their profile. The moment you change you concede to the opposition. I wish the offense would have come out and been mavericks. I mean 14 more points we win that game. The change stunted their rhythm further. I will say that they played navy and army pretty solid these past 2 years. We’re not far off from beating this style of play. We’re not getting trucked like some teams do when they face these teams. I also believe that we’re solidly second tier in the American. But Morris keeps pointing to year 3 like at WSU. If we make progress in ‘24 we have a chance to move into top tier in ‘25. Yeah yeah different game now but I want to see progress from 23 to 24. We can still do that. GMG

I’m just not that gutted this morning. Now if our defense reverts back to giving up 45 on Friday, I will be upset. And it could totally happen as they play O down south. We are a rhythm offense. We could never catch a rhythm and the defense really played hard. They were wacked and kept giving us a random chance. I’d take a fraction of that resolve in San Antonio and if we get it we win. Morris and the team will see space and gaps and speedy receivers getting open in Green. It will be a telling game and the beasts who they played hard against are in the rearview. San Antonio and East Carolina will be tough, but right now the focus is getting 6. Then get more, then win the bowl game. There are still juicy elevation goals ahead. GMG

In all seriousness, I watched South Carolina roar the field after taking down A&M tonight, and thought, “This is what our fanbase needs.” SMU had apparently not beaten a ranked team at home in like 60 years or something crazy like that! Meanwhile we are poised to beat our second undefeated top 20 ranked team in a span of a few years and when this happens it needs to be celebrated! Who says cool sports things don’t happen in Denton, freaking Texas! Goal posts come down, get marched out and get tossed into the pond or placed on the hill like a trophy! 🏆 how instagrammable! There are reports of Tifos being painted in dorms across campus stating, “Bring Goal Posts Here!” Friday night camping equipment is apparently being washed and packed in preparation for under the stars campfires. Good for the Rainbow Warriors. When they are good they get an all island following and have good reach into the mountain west especially Las Vegas! GMG

MWC going to give the PAC a run for its money. Good competition between two western leagues. It’s not the superior PAC over the MWC as easily anymore. The gap is smaller. The PAC has the beast that is Gonzaga. And it’s the MWC has stout programs with New Mexico, UNLV, Nevada, Grand Canyon and UTEP. The Miners still have rep. I still think the last PAC school is sac state or Texas State. NMSU with an outside shot. GMG

I don’t think we get rocked in a bowl game. We are due and will get a W. Now call me optimistic Oscar but I see us beating Army. We are the best team they will have played in 2024. UTSA I feel is a loss because that coach will get them fired up down south to beat us. We beat East Carolina we beat Temple. We win in Frisco or Albuquerque. I’m okay with this season if it unfolds this way. GMG
