UNM is falling off the map because their basketball is not right NMSU basketball has been steady hence they look more attractive right now. UNM needs to get its flagship program back on track much like UNLV is doing now. The MWC benefits when SDSU UNM and UNLV are good. Nevada, Utah state and Boise are good bridge programs but the MWC can’t really have more than one of the power programs go dark for too long. GMG

All 3 outside of Dallas have been reasonable. I drive Uber and am shocked how busy I am. I laid off the roads from st patty’s to cinco de Mayo. From the 5th on it has been rocking with requests and I was in Fort Worth yesterday where 2 restaurants I dined in were full. People are moving around again, but people are making their way back at their own pace which is smart. Confidence level is personal and rising which bodes well for the economy. gmg

I just think NMSU brings good enough 🏀 basketball and utep wants to be aligned with the Texas schools. They really aren’t in a position to look negatively on the aggies. They need a travel partner and if New Mexico isn’t available (why not ask even though a ridiculous long shot) those 2 should be included. Utep won’t stay down forever and some competition from the school across the state line would get them in order fast. UTSA Texas state UNT La Tech Rice ULL Ark State Southern Miss UAB South Alabama or a real SWC resurrect: Houston Rice SMU UNT Texas State UTSA Arkansas State Memphis La Tech Southern Miss GMG

Utep and New Mexico State should be in this league. Both programs have a good amount of alumni in DFW. GMG

How New NIL Rules Will Change G5 Recruiting

I just think if you are good, you go to where you can gain a following, and fanbase. A stones throw from one of the NFL’s mammoths doesn’t hurt, our unknown/weak history may detract, but it’s not a killer. It takes a trailblazer to make a brand and that “dormant” brand can help make the trailblazer too. I don’t think we are in a terrible spot at all. Could we compete with Baylor, Texas tech and Oklahoma state for that stud that wants to make a name for himself in a mega market? Call me crazy but I think it can happen, and just wait until we rack up more b-ball conference championships, finally rise to top of CUSA football and beat a couple of more big boys. We are not the UNT of 2008-2009. Sky’s the reach. Next goal of 2020, football in the fall. GMG -
Exactly. Personally I see getting to Vegas and San Diego and Albuquerque And Denver just as easy as getting to Hattiesburg, Jonesboro and mobile. GMG

Didn’t you win 3 games last year or something like that? I know you beat us but that’s a lot of gum bumping for a really poor team. Looking forward to heading to H Town. GMG

CFL may have to cancel its 2020 season
NM Green replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Can’t mason come back for his senior year plus? I mean as long as the ncaa is throwing out creative waivers shouldn’t or couldn’t there be one for extenuating circumstances such as no CFL probably no XFL due to low funds. As a small business owner I’m just at the point of throwing out all kinds of ideas crAzy half baked whatever...there is no true reference points to make decisions from in a global pandemic. Have mason tell them he could make money for survival off his name playing football. That’s not a half baked fact either. It’s not like he’d be letting an nfl team down. Mason simply needs to explain that his hustle is award winning college football quarterback play! GMG -
It’s a great idea because much like TSA all you really need is the illusion of safety and cleanliness. That builds confidence which leads to ticket sales and concessions. Put a buccees head at the top which has the cleanest restrooms on a roadie and watch their money soar! Great idea we need 130 ASAP! GMG

In this hypothetical merger who do we get in the SBC merge? I would rather join an MWC East but if we stay with cusa who do we blend with? Arkansas State, Texas State, Louisiana, Troy Can’t imagine La Mo being brought on, So that gives you: Rice UNT UTEP UTSA Texas state Arkansas State La Tech Louisiana Southern Miss UAB Troy Middle Tennessee Western Kentucky Marshall Man I think Smastrek and Wren need to lobby for a reformatted MWC where we could go with UTSA, UTEP and Rice to the Mountain. That Eastern division could be UNT, UTSA, UTEP, Rice, New Mexico, Colorado State, Wyoming and Air Force. In the west you have Hawaii, Boise, Fresno, San Jose, San Diego State, UNLV, Nevada, Utah State. Tourney and football championship in Vegas. If Rice doesn’t want to go take Texas State (Austin corridor). The best scenario for UNT is to take Tulsa’s place in the AAC. GMG

99% of FBS ADs Believe We'll Have Football Season This Year
NM Green replied to MCMLXXX's topic in Mean Green Football
Now I’m starting to get an idea of how some power programs of the past all but disappeared from one decade to another. Some of those small schools that were powers and are not here anymore? I think this could be another significant purge of programs that go away or never come back the same way. Fans could be sitting here in 60 years saying, “Louisiana Monroe played major college football 🏈 and beat Alabama one time? Where was New Mexico State, in Santa Fe? Tulsa used to regularly play Oklahoma and State? What is a roadrunner (JK). I do believe we have a delayed start October- February with Christmas New Years break. GMG -
It’s truly begs the scenario regarding tailgating. It would be nothing to just hook up the games to huge TVs and find some discreet location where everybody could gather outside the stadium or near the stadium and have a throwdown party. So online is a nice option and that would protect the players but there’s gonna be some parties to find in the fall I promise you that. They just need to find a way to do some social distancing inside the stadiums. They just need to find a way to do some social distancing inside the stadiums. It will be interesting to see what happens in soccer Stadium’s in Europe before our football season arrives. GMG

I’m waiting for the black market “scrimmages” that you know Are going to happen in SEC country. Try to convince me that there will not be an iron bowl brawl recreation in a stadium that just happens to get broken into where 90,000 people accidentally rush in with instruments, Pom Poms, an elephant costume and real eagle. You can follow these black market scrimmage convoys into Tennessee where you will see some large gators walking across the street upright. Or down in the Bayou where you will see a military takeover and a tiger cage being hauled across a field And another 92,000 loiterers 😉 I would drive to these park “gatherings” in a Hot minute. GMG

I agree about timing which is why we cannot stop. UNT has done some fantastic improvements and our timing has always been just off or way off. Right now UNT has tremendous upside and value but the circumstances aren’t right. It’s funny because it feels like we all drive each other and seek to stay ahead TCU Baylor, TCU SMU, SMU UNT, UNT UTSA, UTSA Texas state, Texas state ? There are just some programs you feel you must stay ahead of. La Tech has turned into a nice rivalry. But UTSA just bugs and I don’t ever want to lose to them at anything! The reality is that we should All play each other more because the built in emotion is potent and present. I would love to play smu In b-ball since I live 2 miles from the campus. More importantly pre and post game meetups and tailgates would be awesome to enjoy more than once every 2 years. Who knows, once programs start dropping and things start shaking we will end up with even mire fun regional rivalries and/or series. GMG

I thought from the title of this thread I was going to open up to the debut of the UTSA spirit cannon. I Seriously did. This video was greater🙂 GMG

WHERE DID OUR HOME GAME WITH CAL GO?!!!!
NM Green replied to Side Show Joe's topic in Mean Green Football
Go get BYU. Great credibility that is independent and would fill a stadium in big 12 country. GMG -
Does anyone know the time of the championship On Saturday? Early mid afternoon or evening? GMG

One more idea is to arrange a pre-tournament pub crawl. FC Dallas did this one year and it was a great time with the mascot, drum corps and cheerleaders leading the walk from pub to pub over four hour period. Four different pubs, UNT fan drop in each pub with UNT drink specials at each place, DJs at each stop. It was a blast! GMG

We should completely maximize this opportunity in regard to pre-parties and post parties. There are several establishments in the vicinity that would be fun to host some parties at! There is also great options at legacy to host a pre-party pep rally the night before or during the tournament! scruffie mcduffies comes to mind. Let’s do what North Dakota state does when they come down and take over the bars in Frisco leading up to their game! Could be great prep for a future Frisco bowl appearance. GMG

I really like the Miners when we aren’t playing them. Living in New Mexico I loved those Awesome basketball battles between the Miners Lobos and Aggies. Solid rivalries! GMG
