C-USA states position on 2020 scheduling
NM Green replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Football
It comes down to leadership and we’ve always been under horrific commissioners. Judy is so absent it’s ridiculous. If you look like you don’t want to or don’t know how to muscle yourself up to the table, operate in the dark spaces or maneuver a bean bag, not sure how you hold onto your position. I do know but...she almost needs programs to leave to dislodge her. Looking forward to the plan to make my plan. GMG -

Good. Time to look out for oneself. G5’s need to take care of themselves in this situation. Nice to see the SBC take initiative for their own self preservation. AAC CUSA MWC MAC 👂 GMG -

P5 GETTING READY TO MAKE IT's MOVE?
NM Green replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
But don’t you think there is still way too much deadweight in the P5? I would think the P5 would carve itself down to about 30-35 programs and maybe even elevate a couple of G5’s annually like Boise UCF Memphis and San Diego State or others that make a splash at the lower level. Gives an Indiana an opportunity to work itself back up along with FAU or USF. They should shave it down to 36 then make the other 80 plus programs play for 4 spots. You get elevated and share in all the riches of the Power programs for the next year while 4 programs get demoted for the year. Rare is the case an Arkansas gets demoted but they would be if they turn out what they have been doing. Create energy at the bottom of the top league and at the top of the next league every year. Pac12 players threaten to opt out of season
NM Green replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Football
Health concerns understood but not sure how the racial injustice plays into it. As a middle aged man losing a year of work and contribution is challenging and disheartening. These kids have no idea how finite their time in that potential really is. To each his own and for those players sitting right behind these dudes. Go get it. Go Mean green!- 42 replies

I’m really interested to see what the AAC is going to do! I really want to keep the Houston and smu games. GMG -

Wisconsin could lose $100 Million if season cancelled
NM Green replied to MCMLXXX's topic in Mean Green Football
I went to the USL’s North Texas Soccer Club game Over the weekend in Globe Life Park, and everyone was able to social distance. Groups took different sections to themselves as there was plenty of room. Not sure if the seat assignment was structured in a way to ensure social distancing, but everyone pretty much obliged and wore their masks into the park to the concessions and at halftime going to the restrooms. There were some sports starved people out and I think they will open a second concession stand next time because the line was long and that was one of the only times people got bunched up. The 8pm start offered a nice breeze after sunset and it sure felt good to be outdoors at a sporting event again. Next game August 8 at 8pm. Will be interesting to see the adjustments. People will oblige better than we expect them too at this point. Hope we get some football. GMG -
I hope this schedule stays in tact. I would love to see the smaller divisions start early and finish earlier and let the big divisions go into January. I’ll enjoy a longer football season every day. Plus all those little towns like Memphis, Childress, Big Spring...where cases could be low should be allowed to play as usual. I know we think of Dallas and Houston and San Antonio when making these decisions but these governing bodies need to consider all of our diverse State populations and communities when making final calls. I’ll be making road trips to watch some football if they allow fans wherever the first kick offs take place. GMG

Wren Baker says we wouldn’t play today (WFAA)
NM Green replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Football
I allowed FC Dallas to push my season ticket to 2021. It’s good and easy for them. Of course I wanted to throw a tantrum when almost the whole freaking team showed up to Orlando positive with Covid and had to withdraw from the MLS is Back tournament. But I have since calmed down and told them just push it to 2021. That is what I will do with the Mean Green. GMG -

Futbol my friend and thank goodness for the English Premier League or I might be going sports psycho right about now. But Manchester United being in the race for Top Four and a slot in Champions League next season has made the summer palatable. Glory Glory Man United. I walked by the UNT soccer field yesterday in the Village and it looks nice. I really need to check out one of our Super Squads games when they resume. Our Lady Mean Green rock the pitch annually. The stadium was tucked away back there and was a nicer structure than I anticipated. They’ve earned the love. MUFC GMG

FAU is the bar like it or not. La Tech is up there with them but just behind. I believe our next coach will get us up there because they will have won at the next level and UNT is a fine job. Seth is a good coach but recruiting is often a resume and sexy game. Coach doesn’t have those things as a head coach. He will win and advance his career but our next coach is going to be that Lane Sonny Taggart kind of name -someone like Frost sarkissian applewhite (risky but name recognition) briles (risky because of name recognition.) Somehow the English Premier League is pulling it off with 2 games per week. Figure out a strategy and make it happen. Either hole up or plan for it to run through the team. But this cancel everything until there is a cure or something is ridiculous. I’m encouraging my niece and nephew going to Tech and UNT this fall to forge some sense of normalcy such as get on campus, go to parties, go to classes, study hard, work part time... Time to live and accomplish again. GMG

Big Ten Expecting Conference-Only Fall Season
NM Green replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
The great news is the SEC will be last to join the party. They’ll stand strong long after the mid American sun belt and patriot league cancel Their fall games. GMG -
Men’s volleyball is a BIG deal. Out west programs like Stanford UCLA Long Beach State Hawaii and BYU are premier programs with solid followings. This is a big development. I even went to a game on campus a few years back. It was fun. GMG

DRC breaking news: UNT to host Cal in 2023
NM Green replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
There is so much to market and Wren knows how to maximize opportunities. We are becoming a destination city, region and the fall is the best time to visit: 1. Expose your program to one of the countries richest recruiting regions. 2. Hang out in music rich Denton for the weekend - live music, brew houses and more. 3. Short drive to mega shopping in Dallas and Plano. 4. Catch some pro sports 🏈 ⚾️ ⚽️ If they happen to be in town that weekend. 5. Tour some history, The 6th Floor museum and Bush Library. 6. Tour headquarters and iconic sports venues. Help these middle/upper programs create an exciting weekend vision for their program and fans: Cal, Purdue, Missouri, Kentucky, Syracuse, BYU, Oregon, Va Tech, Minnesota, Pittsburgh. GMG -
DRC breaking news: UNT to host Cal in 2023
NM Green replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I’m glad we’re starting to play some games out West. Vegas weekend Baby! GMG -
With so many new players and coaches at key positions it’s next to impossible to know what kind of Mean green team takes the field in a few short weeks. Just my thoughts on toughest to easier game: 1. At - Texas A&M 2. At - Houston 3. At - UAB 4. Home - La Tech 5. Home - SMU 6. At - Middle Tennessee 7. At - UTSA 8. Home - Southern Miss 9. At UTEP 10. Rice 11. Charlotte 12. Houston Baptist I feel we get revenge against the ponies. Utep is always a tricky game out in the Sun Bowl. Houston and Aggie will be flat out tough. We play Southern Miss well in Denton. La Tech plays well in Denton. Rice and Charlotte are improved but we get them at Home. UAB and Middle are two places we never or rarely seem to win. GMG

Tailgating in Toyota is outstanding. Has the old fouts field feel when it got good - all packed in highly social, More grassy knolls and tree covering spots plus you could throw a wicked Crawl party through legacy the night before. GMG
