NM Green replied to BigWillie's topic in Mean Green Football
Okay hardcore Green Backers come on down to my Town. Nice when the Mean Green play in the neighborhood. Plans are firming for an easy to remember bounce around strategy: 9:00a - 11:00a Blackfriars Pub on McKinney Avenue - breakfast brews with Man U watch party. The other futbol and Ronaldo’s debut. 11:00a - 3:00p Christie’s on Greenville: 3 levels of impressive football watching options, good food, including an open air rooftop bar 3:30p - 5:30p Alumni Party at Barley House 5:30p - March to Ford 6:00p - Go Mean Green!!! Easy close Uber rides to all locations. Early arrivers jump in wherever and let’s turn Dallas’ social scene green. GMG -
DRC: Five thoughts on UNT's win over Northwestern State
NM Green replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Disciplined. The defense looked more focused and disciplined than in years past. Offense did okay which sounds weird for 44 points. But it was a methodical night. Good solid performance nice energy in the crowd. Great job Green Brigade/ looked sharp and members had fun. Nice job. GMG -
CUSA having a solid weekend. Great win for Charlotte. Others playing tough. San Antonio gonna give Illinois a game I believe. GMG

LSU to Require Vaccination Proof or Negative Test
NM Green replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
But my drive to Austin last night was Epic watching us whip up on the newbies. Q2 Stadium home of Austin FC is outstanding! It has a beer hall inside the stadium and it opens 3 hours hours before game time to play live music and offer one big beer social. It’s brilliant! Pepi played like the All Star he is. Don’t count FC Dallas out just yet. Season goes until first week in November. Love long arse soccer seasons: April - November. Delicious! GMG -
LSU to Require Vaccination Proof or Negative Test
NM Green replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
I told my LSU fans people are going to be showing their library cards, their Kroger’s card and their blockbuster memberships and then kindly push their way in growling tiger bait tiger bait tiger bait. I do bag check at Globe Life Field with stone sober Ranger fan and it is a nightmare on Astro and yankee day. It will be full on volcanic for mcneese and Alabama under the lights at night in Death Valley. couldn’t pay me to try to enforce that. Ha ha. Geaux -
Adios, UT and OU; hello, Big Texas Conference
NM Green replied to Tom McKrackin's topic in Mean Green Football
I feel the same way and I’m a college football junkie. Give me an in person football game between G5 programs any day. I’ll tape and watch an Oregon and some sec games but when the production gets too NFLic I lose interest. The playoffs and national championship game are becoming Super Bowl unwatchable. And I don’t watch the super bowl. I don’t like how espn glosses it up to a point it can never live up to. My sec friends are bloodthirsty though. They can’t wait to shave it down to the 16-25 programs that “matter” and compete in their eyes. more power to them. Power to the Mean Green. GMG -
Get to know a Liberty 2021 opponent: North Texas
NM Green replied to greengal's topic in Mean Green Football
I predict Liberty will be our first win over a ranked team since I’ve been following the Mean Green ‘86. To do it at home will be a big deal and so much fun! I was in Albuquerque when the Lobos took down highly ranked Utah. It was a fun day in the land of enchantment. GMG -
They probably should’ve just moved their games to the ninth Island which is Las Vegas. They could’ve played their games at Sam Boyd Stadium and probably had 10,000 fans each game in attendance. Not kidding. Go Bows

I love the style of play Golding will bring to West Texas. UTEP is a good gig if he can get El Paso rocking. New Mexico is down NMSU seemed a bit off this year. That region is hungry for some good hoops. The Miners will bring it to Frisco in 22 if they begin turning the corner this year. GMG

Grant McCasland Live on CBS 11 Tonight at 10:45pm
NM Green replied to ScrappyD's topic in Mean Green Basketball
That was good and thank you for the heads up. Grant is such an Ambassador for our University and his Mean Green team’s accomplishments over the past few years have made our pride swell to new heights. Thank you GM and Leadership. GMG -
This was definitely the most highly visible team since I’ve been following since ‘86. They capitalized on the moment and opportunity to showcase UNT and our new but not so new brand. Outside of the Dallas morning news everyone knows we are UNT versus NTS. The prime time night slot on day 1 was epic for March madness starved fans. The pandemic caused fans of all forms to glance at the screens for a sense of normalcy plus you couldn’t travel there in person so you weren’t distracted by rallies activities outside the event centers. You had a Star player and admirable supporting cast with a wonderful story and super cute Dad. Mr Hamlet’s pride swelled all game long and he felt like everyone’s dad grandpa or next door neighbor. Grant rolls with the emotion. Smu and tcu out. This garnered in my opinion more than a run to the New Year’s Day 6. You need quirky you need story you need drama. Even djs on kiss 106 were talking about how excited they were for last nights game. Over the airwaves unsolicited pub! Alumni across the metroplex representing. Went to my Manchester United watch party and saw another United fan I had no idea was a mean green diehard until he dawned his SOW cap to go along with his United jersey. We all knew Nova was going to be a beast. They play beautiful basketball. But hats off to the team to Grant to Wren. It was the NIT partnership with our logo blasted across the USA leading into the Big Dance. It was the drama of taking the difficult road to win the championship in Frisco! It was taking down a mighty Big 10 team in one of their best years. It was the drama of overtime grit and resilience all the way to the end. Such an easy Team to be proud of. Our brand looked great on tv. We have name recognition on the national stage. People love making the Mean Green their own. Heck we can be the wrecking machine or whatever they want to rhyme with us to grow and ignite our fanbase. Peter Pan did this for us in Fayetteville and this Team did this for us in Indianapolis. Thanks to All! GMG

Since it doesn’t seem like anything organized is being put together we are just going to crash Eastside and drink some good brews and watch the game. There will be at least 3 to 5 of us heading up to Denton. Go Mean Green!!!!!

UNT Basket Ball Watch Party THIS FRIDAY
NM Green replied to Dentondame82's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Bring it Mean Green Nation!!! It’s almost game day so wherever your watch party is have fun and let’s celebrate these fantastic young men. First time to the Winery and excited to cheer with fellow alums friends and fans! GMG -
I was watching from City Works patio and there were some anti UNT fans discreetly cheering on the Toppers. They were average watchers picking a team, but then I think UNT intrigued them! I didn’t think we were 100 percent going to lose because wku didn’t close us out. They kept missing opportunities to crush us and we got scrappy. After the game I realized I almost watched the wku game from last year in the Super Pit. We scrapped scraped got some fortunate bounces and the strong squad got spooked. Like some magical intervention somethings kept us in the game. I saw that game in person. I saw this years game on the big screen. They both were fun as heck because that doesn’t always happen to UNT. Love our teams that have learned how to make it happen. Create chaos and give it your best shot. I’ll take the good feeling. GMG

Yes any bar would be great! I took the advice of one poster on Saturday and watched the Mean Green at city works on the patio, watching it on the Star big screen. It was a blast and had the patio been packed with Green it would have been amazing! Nevertheless we had fun followed by green beers at Ringos Pub. If we ever make the Frisco Bowl that scene is going to be fun for some pre and post parties. GMG

I think there were a couple of basketball references in this list. Which means we have to add that Win over Western Kentucky in Frisco to this proud trip down memory lane. Last years win over Western in the Super Pit and last nights awesomeness had some similar feelings in retrospect. This entire run of 4 wins over many of the beasts in our league was epic. Still on a St. Patty’s Day Mean Green beer high from last night. Great night! GMG

With 100% capacity being allowed in Arlington for the Cowboys and Rangers, hopefully we get a chance to create a rocking home field advantage in the fall! GMG

I think Wren should eye the cusa commissioner’s post. He actually likes to talk up his school imagine how passionate he could talk about cusa - barely heard Judy speak before. but I’ll hope we keep him around Denton for a good while. I like some of the good all around accomplishments he has made for good ole UNT. GMG
