  1. Weird thread. Call me crazy but even in our two losses fiu and Navy I have been highly entertained. Now figure out how to get one more touchdown than these programs and life is bliss. We beat Temple, Memphis, and Tulsa. We get beat by SMU UTSA and Tulane. UAB the tossup to see if we go bowling in ‘23. GMG
  2. Silver lining, this team is not quitting. We will have to learn how to play this offense a lot in the AAC. Keep grinding learning and pull the surprise. GMG
  3. Liberty is a power in the making. Getting Chadwell was Huge! I feel like I’m watching Coastal all over again. A slick fast team playing a fun brand of football. GMG
  4. Thank you Jared. That was a first class event yesterday. Love the effort and all of these interesting outreaches will continue connecting us with the Community (Mean Green & Denton & North Texas). The Mean Green Live area was nice. I was flying solo this game so I wandered around more and that space is getting better. Loved watching the Baylor vs UCF game while listening to the band. The picnic tables and free standing tables were good to gather at. The weather in October and November should make these areas even more appealing. I would add at least one more big tv to have multiple games playing. The drone show was very cool. FC Dallas does this throughout the season and it’s always a hit. Eventually people will figure out its worth staying for the show and those stands will remain packed. Kudos to the Green Brigade for playing You’ll Never Walk Alone or their closing song until after the show. Good synergy between the band and piped in music operator all night. Yeah, just darken the scoreboard for greater effect. Love the water stations. They were so helpful to remain hydrated. I couldn’t find them at first and one worker asked was not sure where they were. I stumbled upon them appreciatively. The Alumni Pavilion was inviting. Love they are focusing on being more warm and welcoming this season, not just membership driven. It’s a great space to gather and catch some score updates. The families I was sitting around were all having a great time. I thought it was a good turn out for ACU. The Wildcat supporters were friendly too and it was nice to welcome them to Denton. Yesterday I felt more of what Mosley wants to do from the business community connect perspective. I like it. Lastly, keep those boards nice and bright without resolution issues. A great quality look that is bright and constantly keeping us posted on what’s going on around the CFB world. How cool was it to see the National Champion Polo Team on their horses Gallup from end zone to end zone. Glad the fireworks and cannon didn’t spook the beautiful animals. Fun stuff. Everybody did just enough to get us to 500 before October. GMG
  5. After a contemplative beer I decided to buy 2 tickets for FC Dallas vs Inter Miami for $99 each., my season ticket agreement. Woke up in the AM after the link went live to the masses and the tickets were worth $900 each. It truly is a supply issue and i didn’t cash out because I wanted the $900 Messi Messi Messi experience. Worth it. GMG .
  6. I would not allow smu to park any of their sports in the AAC. Let them go CUSA or Sun Belt. I’m also okay with taking the TCU approach and never playing smu in anything again. Bowl game understood. But scheduling they are not worth it. All the best in your east coast ACC world. UNT will always promote UNT first. GMG
  7. I personally can’t see the pac 4 to the big 12 as Stanford and Cal would align with better company in the AAC than in the Big 12. Love the Big 12 but they are not a fit. Now I could see osu and wsu wanting the Big 12 but it’s cal and Stanford to the ACC or independent. GMG
  8. Brand that towel. We have 1-2 more summer games left! UNT American! drench it like an American. GMG
  9. At the Ranger games they have buckets of ice water for you to drench your towel in and drape it on the back and around your neck. Wish they could have ice bins and cooling houses Around the stadium. The Parker county peach festival had drop zones for people to cool down. Don’t think this can happen in DATCU but the ice bath zones would be helpful. Just a note, people drop like flys waiting to get into Globe Life Field in game days. Medical dispatched often, during these summer games. In our stadium medical might be on overdrive. We need to check on each other and make sure everyone is fully hydrated and okay throughout the 3 hour event. Including the Green Brigade. But once again bring your crazy into DATCU Cal ain’t gonna know what hit them. GMG
  10. Aresco is handling this well. Get ESPN involved and arrive with all the figures details, proposed schedules and don’t let them drive you to the airport until they say yes. GMG
  11. This could turn into a rich opportunity for WSU and Oregon State. Not financially but in exposure and in pushing their brand into the population centers of America. This round of realignment is showing that you have to play in the East. The MWC is a fine league I have loved for a long time. But programs like SDSU Oregon State and even Boise need to carve wins out where the voters and talking heads live. The Cali schools have realized this. The Bay Area schools are realizing this. For the AAC this is a win. Oregon State is getting national buzz for their squad this year. Their facilities are solid! WSU would get the most exposure it’s ever loved outside of the flag on Gameday. I predict we will have to fend off the Big 12 eventually when these programs start excelling. UNT has landed in a beautiful situation. Center of the country. No more smu to share the conference with. Big 12 in our backyard. SEC hardcore football fans everywhere who live breathe drink and eat college sports year round. Major media market. Humongous enrollment and alumni base. The ingredients are there for many to elevate. GMG
  12. I say get UNLV to get a big city tournament destination market. I would vote to get Air Force versus CSU. Tournament rotation New Orleans Las Vegas. GMG
  13. This is such a weird spitting match. 1. I am not crushed smu is leaving. Our additions are going to be better than what smu brought to the table. 2. I’ve always found the ACC the most boring conference in the country. The small privates are boring. 3. smu fan on our board is weird. They can’t spew the letters UNT at any other time but somehow found our board and now live here. 4. smu fits in the ACC. UNT needs to continue winning, in the AAC and prepare to align ourselves with the Big 12 public schools in the next movements. Meanwhile go get SDSU Boise UNLV and Air Force and let’s have some fun with partners who are excited to be here. SMU is about to be the ACC’s latest drama. Beat Cal GMG
  14. We can invite cougar queen to our “crappy” bowl game. Because h-town is predicted to sit at home at 5-7. We welcome you to some pre-holiday festivities wherever we land. GMG
  15. I feel the PAC rebuild gets less likely every week. It seems like some serious heavy lifting and would need to be led by a program who wants nothing to do with its potential members. The PAC had a great run. Put her in the graveyard with the SWC and look forward. Beat Cal. GMG
  16. This news just made my century. GMG
  17. You need more fill in the west. I like the initial graph, but get UNLV and CSU and/or AF to bridge the west. Perhaps Fresno to get a second cali presence. GMG
  18. They are about to face the reality that UNT UTSA FAU UAB and Rice are about to start beating them in the major sports 🏈 🏀. Tulane already does, ECU probably will, it’s a sobering internal struggle. Yet they lash out at the conference quality. It’s one of the wildest cases of wtf I’ve ever seen. They should go Indy to save the embarrassment to come. They can create their own schedule and whine to the clouds. GMG
  19. They fit the ACC small privates well. I’m excited we get to go get another major market team or team with some street cred and potential. That is not what smu has been for awhile. I take the Morris approach. Invest and blast forward with those who want to build, enhance and be here. When this all settles one day we will be with teams with similar regional profiles, like Texas Tech, Okie State, Houston, UTSA, Memphis, and others. Right now we are in a nice pole position with green brightness on the horizon. GMG
  20. That thought ran across my mind immediately. We could have the slots of 12p, 2:30p, 7p and 9p covered every weekend. It’s like ESPN programming within one conference. Build an alliance of games with the Big 12 and the programming would draw eyeballs from morning to late night. GMG
  21. The Big 12 rep today said it’s a zero sum game and that is why the Bug 12 went so hard. Someone has to win and it why the 12 ate the PAC. Makes me think of the AAC going strong for Boise San Diego State Cal Stanford CSU AF OSU UNLV and Wazzu. That’s the western bridge. Remaining slot(s) to the ACC shakeouts. GMG
  22. I like that Aresco seems to be holding his cards close to his chest. I bet he plans a work through with the MWC based on the PACS move. I could see the PAC going the way of the SWC and disappearing. I could see the pairing of programs to make sure everyone has a home. I could see an outright poaching attempt. But Aresco isn’t sitting still despite the silence. Leftover programs after the PAC invites leave only 1 that fits our profile and two maybes. San Jose State fits the AAC. Hawaii and New Mexico are stretches but could have some intrigue. Personally without some anchors in Colorado I wouldn’t go too far west. Better situation would be UNLV, SDSU, San Jose State or Fresno, Boise, AF, Colorado State. GMG
  23. Thank you for your generosity. The next generation of leaders appreciate your vision and values. GMG
  24. The Big 12 is not scary. I don’t care who joins. The AAC needs its new and established programs to bring it, every game, every opportunity. The gap between the 12 and our new league has closed not widened. All programs outside the sec and big will have to work like heck to compete and make their mark. And the opportunity is there whether you are 12, mountain, American, pacific, Atlantic, sun belt or mid. A new day a new way. GMG
  25. It’s fascinating. For the first time ever as a UNT fan I get to sit back like an SEC’er and watch programs eat their own. UNT has always been part of the not invited but Wants in club or joining the league that has just been gutted club. This is a rare sight line. What I would like to see happen is: ASU and Zona - go Big 12. They fit this league. They expand the league just west enough and bring good bball and late night football games. Utah - forced to big 12. They won’t go willingly, but like TAMU had to swallow that rivalry with Texas again. The Holy War must return. Or they will be in an elevated Mountain West. They have a long shot at the Big but make them decide. Stick around and take your chances or bolt to complete the mountain expansion sweep. The PAC - expand with a slew of G5 teams. This pushes Oregon and Washington to the brink and the Big. Their media deal gets pushed to steaming and mid week games. SMU now joins the elevated Mountain West with a worse viewership scheduling situation. A word to our friends: Memphis - I look forward to developing that football and basketball rivalry in Denton and Tennessee. SMU, Rice and Tulane - you fit the PAC profile. You’ve got decisions to make. USF - look forward to getting to know you. That FAU rivalry will become REAL. UTSA - don’t get tempted to go west. Mountain West - go if you can but Colorado State and Air Force should look to AAC to swing through Big 12 country where the Buffs will be lurking. The new PAC post major program defections: Stanford Cal Washington State Oregon State SDSU SMU Tulane Rice Boise State UNLV Hawaii Fresno State The new PAC is above recognized quality of the AAC with fewer eyeballs and worse scheduling. The AAC gets prime opportunity to build off its major market teams recent success and gets to reload strategically. GMG
