  1. Dirk is underrated and is finally getting the exposure the "stars" get. Those crazy shots that use to be discounted as "lucky" are now being called something different like "skill." I think Wade's call out got under his skin and the Big German and the Team are on a mission! The Little General's work is something to be admired! Let's Go Mavs! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Great news! Speed is key with today's multi-tasking tech saavy generation - and us old timers. Speed is good for business. GMG
  3. Mavs are playing the new run and shoot. Phoenix's game is exciting too, but I sure do like some Defense too. I think we are the most rounded. To the Title! GO MAVS!!!!! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I love the Mavs game. It is solid and they are having fun - a great recipe for the season! I hope we win by a ton! GO MAVS! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Aggie, I was rooting for you guys yesterday and having lived in NM before I know how your win stings the Lobos and Miners. Awesome crowd and energy in the Pan American Center. Nice to see our brothers excelling out West. Your Lady's challenge the Wahine volleyball team this year, and now you all are on your way to take on the Longhorns! That is awesome! I think you guys stand a better chance than the experts will give NMSU, because Texas is TIRED. You all are deep, fired up and will put up a strong fight. I know we will do the same against the Tigers. Good luck and congrats! Beat the Horns! Beat the Tigers! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Hello Memphis! Congrats on a phenomenal season and we look forward to a great battle down in New Orleans! So many storylines in this matchup. To a great game! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Okay, gonna drink a gallon of the Mean Green kool aid for a second: This team can shock Memphis and go up against a probable Nevada Wolfpack squad and dare I say it! Head home to San Antone! I saw the Wolfpack almost get beat by a mediocre Hawaii team this year TWICE! Leave it on the floor GREEN and lets make some noise! GMG
  8. Another opportunity to tussle with CUSA. This is great for the Mean Green and good for the Sun Belt too! A good old fashioned Southern battle in good ole New Orleans! SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! beat the tigers! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. The lack of upsets this year is shocking. We are unique group this year! Isn't this freaking exciting! Playing the waiting game for Mean Green Hoops on March 11th - sweet! GMG
  10. New Orleans could use the support. The Mountain West has moved the tournament from Denver to Las Vegas and the town has time to prep, people have time to plan, and the destination is great even if your team gets knocked out early. GMG
  11. 1. Championship out of nowhere this past week. 2. One of the most memorable games for me was the win over TAMU. It was right after the Bonfire tragedy and I remember a powerful moment of silence at the beginning of the game. The game was tight, there were quite a few Aggies in our house and a lot of GREEN. It was a memorable win. GMG Dance Baby Dance!
  12. I couldn't watch the game due to a business dinner but was watching the ticker in the bar holding my breath - then a fist into the air when I saw us highlighted in yellow. I have been following the Mean Green since '86 and when you look at this decade, this is simply awesome:4 Bowl games and an trip to the Big Dance in the first 7 years of the new millenium. There have always been moments of excitement over the past 20 years but athletic success and North Texas in the same sentence shows me just how far we have come! Oh yea and the future is brighter than heck too! GMG
  13. U go girl! Woman's volleyball in Hawaii consistently draws over 7,000 and sells out at 10,000 for the Bruins, Penn State, USC, New Mexico State (who actually upset them this year.) Last night's Hawaii men's basketball game drew just over 4,000. Exceptions - sure, but let's watch the size brush we use. The money floating around athletics verges on obscene. I am sure there is plenty to go around. GMG
  14. How about a Spirit Summit - a coming together to create ideas where synergy can occur. I am all for spirit groups having their own identity but the following needs to occur: 1. Idea brainstorm - generate 20, 30 or 50 things that need to occur from a spirit and attendance generating point of view. 2. Through the "dot exercise" narrow that list to 10 or however many groups there are now (dot exercise = everyone gets 3 dots - place the dot next to your top three priority areas. The 5, 7 or 10 ideas with the MOST dots are selected and each spirit group takes one of the areas. 3. The spirit group must put together a strategy plan to impact that area and submit it to the Athetic department by X date. 4. Follow up meetings are set every 6 weeks to check the status of that action plan and progress. 5. Strategy plans are either reinforced because they are working, tweaked because they are almost there or scrapped because they fell apart. 6. Enjoy season with increased attendance numbers and spirit effects. 7. Repeat exercise in the summer to impact basketball season. GMG
  15. My cousin played with a lot of players in high school (girls volleyball) and stayed friends with them after they went on to U of Houston. During the recruiting process she was heavily recruited by Florida State, and on her trip to Tallahasee was provided nice fat seats at the Miami vs FSU game. She came dangerously close to becoming a Seminole but due to her relationships with the coaching staff and players at UH she accepted the scholarship to become a Cougar. She had an outstanding career with UH, stayed close to her BF, finished school and got married. There are so many factors that play into this big time decision. The poster who says next year Riley will be able to get comfortable in Denton hit it on the head. Full stadiums, raucous fans, fun tailgates and wins just might score him a ticket to Denton. Until then take all the loving from around the country and explore. Heck that is what you should do at 18! We are in good hands with TD. GMG
  16. What we do need to do is get on the horn with Boise and get a home and home series with them. The WAC programs we should try to set up games with include Boise, Fresno, Hawaii and Nevada. Those programs would love to get some Texas exposure and they are all playing competitive football with the big boys. Fresno is the only program that is down right now but they have earned themselves a few tough years if it comes to that. One of the few drawbacks of losing SMU, Rice and TCU was the fact that they could drag their programs through our lucrative region of the world. Playing any of these programs right now would be good for both sides. GMG
  17. The landscape has changed. That is why we have a shot at a TD or maybe even a Fisher. College athletics is a proving ground and that is why we have a shot at Snead. You don't need to go to FSU to get recognized. Colt Brennan transferred from CU to the middle of the Pacific and had himself one heck of a year. So much so that he may not be back next year because he may find himself a first rounder this April. You need a stage to perform on and North Texas is a D1A stage with a hell of an upside - location, coverage, opportunity, espn gameplan/fox sports sw! You just have to get out there work hard and perform! If you are good you will shine through regardless of whether you are lining up against Idaho or Arkansas. The only 2 things you probably can't do at North Texas anymore is win a national championship and win the heisman. That leaves many many available goals to choose from. GMG
  18. New surroundings often unleash the talent within a player. Look at what has happened to Colt Brennan who had a bad attitude and run ins with the drama that is the CU program. He transferred and was being mentioned in the same breath as Brady Quinn and Troy Smith due to his stats and the system he flourished in under June Jones. As a non-bcs you have to take some risks in hiring and player recruitment. Either way I am juiced about the future and can look forward to once again attending away games, going to big time college football atmospheres and relishing the energy in Fouts. GMG
  19. Very true. I didn't want to slam the good kids on our team right now and Dickey and Co did always find some gems. People respond differently to different leaders and there might be gems we don't even know about yet! GMG
  20. Not to mention that you have to let the dominos fall. On the game today I saw us listed as 1 of 7 with job openings. Obviously the big dominos like Miami and Rutgers and West Virginia, Alabama...all need to do some falling to see who is available for the next tier. Publicly going after someone and losing out would not look good. The waiting game is tough but the wait will be worth it! In RV I trust! GMG
  21. I don't follow recruiting but could it be much different from what we have had over the past couple of years? To the casual recruiting fan it seems like pretty much anyone could come in and deliver the same type of class. Either way we are going to have to brace ourselves for 2-3 years of rebuilding. A new coach can make some aesthetic fixes but the culture change that is coming will be a longer term process. GMG
  22. Good gosh people act like this is our one and only ever donor! We loved Mattress Mac's contribution and I hope he continues to support the Mean Green, but there are good things to come and bigger contributions! It is water under the bridge and the future is GREEN! GMG
  23. That was a shocking stat! Earlier in the game I was commenting that Franchione lost it once he got to A&M. My friend and I watched him at New Mexico and then followed him at Bama and I have always been a fan. But his stint in College Station has not been what many were expecting including me. With that said he always was able to pull of a Signature win. In New Mexico he built the dreaded Lobos to beat a #8 ranked Utah team in University Stadium. In El Paso he led TCU over the vaunted USC machine. Once he got a signature win he was able to carry the team over the top. Is this going to be his signature win that finally turns the tide? Great day for the Ags! GMG
  24. I was thinking the same thing when watching his press conference - Dickey could have learned from the way Coker handled himself. never burn a bridge! GMG
  25. Oh those were the good old days of Mean Green football. I am already getting pumped about getting onto planes and into cars to get to Mean Green games again next year! GMG
