Yep, I watched all the clips too - boy am I craving football! GMG

I noticed that we are on at 11:00am in Austin. Is this going to be a TV game? I want to plan any trips around those games I can't get on TV or the Internet. GMG

The WAC has settled down because the teams that wanted to be in there, got there. The FSU's and Hawaii's of the world are tired of complaining. CUSA is on shaky ground because people want out. Crazy how the WAC has become the second most stable conference maybe third one out there. MWC WAC or MAC SBC - no where to go CUSA - several unhappy members - the new WAC GMG

Looks like Albuquerque soon to get a bowl game
NM Green replied to NTEagle08's topic in Mean Green Football
Are we anywhere near to getting a second bowl? We need to keep pace with the WAC bowl situation since we are having trouble doing it with top 25 teams. GMG -
This sounds like fun! GMG

Who were your final four? I have: Iowa Pittsburgh UCONN Arizona Championship game - Zona and Iowa Champion - Arizona Wildacts! Terrible year but the Cats have a way of playing well at the right time!

I feel the pride. Great job and congratulations! GMG

Makes perfect sense - the MWC and WAC should play a bowl game with the natural rivalries. ABQ would be a great place for a bowl game. Santa Fe and ABQ during the holidays with all the luminarios on top of the buildings - completely enchanting - gosh I want my cabin out there! GMG

Well it has'nt even been 6 months since Katrina. I am not sure any place could undergo that type of event and come back easily, much less a place like NO. We have such an appetite for instantaneous fixes in this country. Even New York wasn't the same the following year ~ this is an entire city. I am so glad to be going back to New Orleans on business in a couple of weeks. I just want to give back somehow someway, even in the form of some business to the place that I love and have so many fond memories of. Enjoy Mardi Gras everyone and don't worry - the spirit of that city will carry on - differently, but it will live on! All will be more back in order come December: Hopefully that means the Mean Green will once again return to true NOB form! GMG

Well that is one failsafe way to keep the economy moving! Instill the FEAR! Flame the FEAR! GMG

I was at UTA for a graduation last May and the campus was nice. My Sister did her grad work there so that was my second visit to UTA. I never associated the Mavericks with red, even athletically. I always remembered them blue and white. The new logo is sharp and professional. I differ with some posters on the orange. I like it! I think the orange trim makes the logo look similar to UTEP which I like. I think the Miners sport some cool gear and use the pic effectively in their marketing efforts. The blue orange combo is not really present in the North Texas area so I say go for it! GMG

I didn't watch too much Seahawk ball this past fall, but in the Superbowl the Seahawk fans did something clever. Early in the game when the Seahawks were able to stop Steeltown on their drives, they would begin chanting Seahawks Seahawks Seahawks as the punter lined up to kick the ball away. I know I am easily amused, but I thought that was kind of cool. It was a way to dent the overly partisan terrible towel crowd. So how about this fall as the smu kicker lines up to kick the ball to us we begin the chant of Eagles Eagles Eagles or Mean Green Mean Green Mean Green. If we are all on the same page it would be a way to make some noise for the D and get some fans off the bench. Aloha! Go Mean Green!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a Texan to the core, but I am glad it was my friend I was putting on a plane heading back to the orange state. It would be disgusting to live in the land of the bandwagon this year. It's my state but it ain't my team! GMG

ASU Fan, I too am a big SBC fan. I am a rarity in that respect but I believe this league has the opportunity to grow into something special. I know our eventual goal is CUSA and I would like us to accept an invite if ever extended; however, I can enjoy the present. I started following the Mean Green feverishly in '86, so these last few years have been gravy. Crazy as it sounds those rivalries with Arkie State, NLU, SFA, SHSU and SWT were great back in the day. I am glad we have still been able to preserve some of those today. We need to cross paths with NMSU again in the future. I have lived in MWC and WAC country for some time now. I have spent time in CUSA country as well. The SBC for all it's warts is not as horrific as it appears to be. We are a young league with some programs about to make it over the mountain. With every MTSU win over Vandy, Troy win over Mizzou and Arkie State near miss with Southern Miss, I smile. I live in Hawaii and if not for the SBC people would really have no idea who it is I follow. Those 4 bowl appearances have given us pub sea to shining sea, as will your appearance this year and future winning seasons. I think you beat the Green again this year. I will root like heck for UNT, but Jonesboro has been a house of fear for even good Mean Green squads of days gone by. The race for New Orleans should be fun this fall. GMG

texas is going to pay the piper this coming year now that the stud is gone. They are going to lose at least 3 games in Austin and Mack will be receiving luggage tags for Christmas - mark it. All of those thrashings are going to get unleashed on the horns in '06 and the list to stand in is long! North Texas has every right to still be stewing in humiliation from that 65-0 game. I hope the entire staff still stings and preps to leave it on the field Labor Day weekend. the orange demise is going to be fun to watch - punches from North Texas, OSU, CU, Kansas, Okie State (next year's Big 12 champion Sooners), getting gunned up in Lubbock. It is going to be a great year of college football and I am confident with the scrutiny on Dickey's OOC record our team is going to show up and play with some heart. Time to pay the piper! Looking forward to the texas tumble! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I watched this game last night I commented to a friend that if the NCAA ever wised up this could be an every year affair! I have a feeling the numbers last night might have rivaled Superbowl type numbers. I can't remember more people interested in seeing that game. However, all the stars aligned this season and truly left the 2 best teams in the country to decide it on the field. I doubt this will happen again soon, and you know the day is coming when we have 1 undefeated and 10 1 loss teams, or 2 undefeateds like a Notre Dame and a TCU and we will get Notre Dame vs a 1 loss Florida. A playoff would make even MORE money and actually cause even more economic havoc, like closing my Hawaii office at 2:30p to head over to the local pub. Wise up NCAA - 16 Team playoff! GMG

Bush first, Leinert second - VY somewhere down the line - he will be another Vick with no championships and an early worn down career. GMG

Ark State Fan - you are greatness! Wait until we start consistently getting beat by our SBC brethren - oh wait, FAU is well on their way. Look at what the great WAC did for NMSU - 0-12! I think this board would explode at 0-11 and the ut jerseys would be flying off the dusty shelf shortly thereafter. MG better fix their house and next year is judgement year for this regime. I am excited because at a minimum it is going to be awesome drama! GMG

I should be on the island that weekend and will definitely head out to Aloha Stadium for the game! Please let me know if I may be of any assistance before or during your time in Hawaii. I am a Mean Green diehard and will always take care of our own. Aloha and A hui hou (until we meet again) GMG

Yeah! Lets join the WAC and maybe we get a chance to go to the Hawaii Bowl. Local radio this morning: Tickets sold - Central Florida 400 - 500 Nevada - 75 No, I did not leave off a zero. That is 75 tickets the vaunted and improving Wolf Pack sold to this year's bowl. I have not seen any gear representing these 2 schools around Waikiki and the game is 3 days away. Please, someone please let us in the WAC! Real life Honolulu promotion - go to the Swap Meet at the stadium earlier in the day and the price of admission gets you into the Bowl Game. The price of admission is 50 cents, yeah, like the rap star. 50 freaking cents gets you into Aloha Stadium, and yet when I ask people if they are going they say "no UH, why go!" Check out that stadium Saturday night. For UH sakes I hope the locals fill it. Heck, you can get a family of 4 in for $2. The WAC is the place to be! Hawaii had 4 games this season (NMSU was one) that drew 24,000 or less and those figures are generous. The only big draws were Wisconsin and USC. Wait until Idaho rolls into Hawaii next year. You should have seen the horror on the Rainbow Warrior fans faces when they saw the Kibbie Dome. Less than 24,000 for 4 of their 6 games at home and this is a one trick sports town. The casuals are not interested, the newly relocated (me) are not very interested and June Jones has pi$$ed off the older community with name changes, uniform color changes, music in the stadium changes...He has practically forced the band to stop playing Hawaii Five-O for some strange reason. I think it sounds cool as heck but he dislikes it and instead has music piped in over the speakers (New Age Warrior Chants). Yeah, lets join the great WAC! The Golden Knights are staying in my hotel and I am selling t-shirts to the tourists tomorrow. Uh, I am confident I will be able to get in a good book. ASU hung tough and I am proud of the Indians. Our league is playing competitive bball and as soon as we secure that second bowl bid I know we will strive like heck to compete with CUSA. We are already doing it in bball, football is next. Now if NMSU and La Tech want to join an up and coming league we sure as heck can talk. If not, enjoy San Jose State and go for 76 tickets if you ever make it to the Hawaii Bowl. GMG

I agree. It is good for Arkie State to be getting some national pub and believe me we will be mentioned a few times before the night is over. This just might be the breakthrough the SBC needed. I dislike that it is at our expense, but you must make most of your day(s) in the sun and I hope the Indians do. Here is to reclaiming the throne someday soon. GMG

A few things seem wrong with the 2005 New Orleans
NM Green replied to WIFE2HOT4U's topic in Mean Green Football
This is a tough draw, because Southern Miss rarely enters the post season without complete preparation. Add to that their fans will be there in mass and will be loud. Arkie State is going to have to weather the early storm, but this could be a Colorado State vs North Texas situation all over again. GO ASU! GMG -
Thank goodness! Have a safe and joyous season Mean Green! Not the same without the jaunt to New Orleans, but our December excursion wasn't the same either. Too the world and all of the people impacted by challenge - you are not alone. To the first bowl game of the season! ASU shock the Golden Eagles. Win one for the Belt. I am so happy for Ark. State Fan. How excited must he be right about now. GMG
