  1. I've heard ESPN Gameplan for those of us outside the DFW area! GMG
  2. 88 that is great! When I was young I always wanted to go to UT, but I hated the color orange. Throughout my high school years I was a very average student and UNT was one of the few schools I could get into. It was close to home and I was more into working than going through the whole college experience anyway. So I ended up at NTSU out of convenience to Dallas and opportunity. I began attending college football games right off the bat and quickly realized that somewhere between the fun of high school and the adult I thought I was, laid an amazing life-changing experience. I have always loved sports and the fact that UNT was able to offer me the opportunity to grow, learn, engage and develop made me fiercely loyal to the Mean Green. So all of a sudden all the worlds were blending - I continued to grow in my career, obtain my education, make friends, and release my passion for sports. Like 88 I too appreciated the fact that the Mean Green always had odds stacked against it and made lemonade from bad lemons. I felt like I could personally relate to UNT which only increased my loyalty. Living through our successful and challenging 1AA days, through our transition from 1AA to 1A, stadium expansion and multiple conference homes. It made the meteoric rise of the early part of this decade all the more special. I hurt right now after our first month of Dodge Ball, but a question like this brings it all into perspective. This years pain will be rewarded with some truly special memories ahead! Tear up Lafayette! GMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. that is flat out shocking. BIG win for CU - now OU will definitely stomp Texas and that will make my day! GMG
  4. Please don't call them knowledgeable football fans if they get the Southland and the Sun Belt confused. It would be like NMSU, Idaho and USU with the WAC. It would be tasty at first and we would all pound our chests about being in CUSA (whatever) and then we would still need to do what we need to do today - bloody WIN. Get the W's and watch the sheep flock to Fouts. GMG
  5. Can FAU pull another upset for the Belt tomorrow? I am hoping we play Ark well, but I think FAU stands a better chance at a win that we do. I also kept hearing about their opportunity to line up against the golden children of the ncaa right now. They are playing USF at Lockhart Stadium next weekend. Isn't that venue small and will the bull bandwagon engulf it next Saturday? Boy if Schnelly can get one or two of these wins they would garner some of that Troy kind of love after they took down the Headless Horseman and the Okie State Cowboys! GMG
  6. We are cranky. We need to win a game! GMG
  7. At least they were there:) GMG
  8. The punter looked slow. The rush kep growing on all our punts but the punter just hung back and kept taking his usual approach to gettign the ball off. I was down in H and on the block that pretty much sealed our deal you could see FAU with ears, arms everything pinned back ready to make the rush. The punter just comfortably took the ball and his steps to get it off. I saw that block coming before it happened. WOW next up a guest appearance on MEDIUM! GMG
  9. Opening up against a legit D1 and up and coming program was not the prettiest think we could have inherited from a scheduling point of view. The battle between FAU and TROY will be awesome to watch. FAU has athletes and our D played better this game holding them the best they could. The D simply got tired and from all the work THEY had to do because we lost our confidence and ability to move the chains. FAU is for real. GMG
  10. Meager is the Jake Plummer (NFL) of college football right now - good stats, nice throws, monster mistakes. Heartbreaker! You have 1 leader out there and when that leader is not coming through - you will not have success. I am so glad there are so many that want to watch this kids development in the hope that we maybe win a game in November. 79-10 - not OU That's what I expect from our trip to the little piggies. Enough BEATCH! Great tailgate! Saw all of the great folks of old - spend more time in October! Awesome fireworks display! Green Brigade you rock and looked SHARP in those unis! Just being back in Denton for a football game! Priceless! GMG
  11. I may be out in the boonies for my tailgate but I don't care because it is my first trip to Fouts in 3 years and what a potential problem to have! Let's do as they do outside Death Valley - pull off anywhere, set up shop and get the gate on! We don't boulevard, WE TAILGATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GMG
  12. FAU 30 North Texas 47 24,788 GMG
  13. Now it kind of reminds me of the cotton bowl - a little bit of new look with that nostalgia feeling. Looking forward to seeing it en Sabado! GMG
  14. I'll take it one step further. How long before we can throw bait to a couple of other programs to see if we get a nibble. For example, LA Tech has to be looking at the improved Belt and thinking if the SBC gets one more bowl guarantee should we think about applying? I would like state programs with decent followings like a Southern Miss to join Troy in the heart of the football south. UAB would be a nice fit but they have a poor following. La Tech would be a natural with 2 other programs in the state and 1 3 hours West. Heck, the Bulldogs have one to the north, the SE, the NW. It would make perfect sense for La Tech to leave the WAC sooner than later. If we could lure Southern Miss, La Tech, UCF and Memphis now you are talking about 2 divisions with some solid name recognition a couple of more bowls and the key - MORE FANS. I personally don't see Marshall, ECU, UCF, Houston, SMU, UTEP and Rice going anywhere. Tulane is not a good draw and Rice will go with the flow. UTEP is attached at the hip with SMU, Rice and H-town. Keep winning. Win head to heads. Build FANBASES! Get the BCS at home and get on TV. Bring on FAU! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Not Dougherty, isn't that the train wreck in fort worth? The SMU bball coach they landed was a national name that is escaping me - too much Cerveza at the Hawaii game last night:) Either way I still think with the facilities, location, tradition and conference affiliation that SMU will be able to get someone decent. GMG
  16. I think Orsini is going to get a good catch. After all it is Dallas and CUSA we are talking about. Getting Dougherty was great for the Ponies and I would think Orsini will make a splash with his next football hire. Bring on FAU! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Just got back from Sam Boyd Stadium. That is a really nice stadium - perfect size - over 38,000 on hand and approximately 10,000 were Hawaii fans. The game was much like the one I watched on island last year. Hawaii simply executed and found open receivers to keep moving the chains. UNLV went up 7-0 and after playing Wisconsin so tough last week the Rebels were charged. However, Hawaii tied it and got on track. They scored in many different ways, dawned their Colt for Heisman shirts and stayed totally engaged the entire game. I can't help but think our team is going to be a blast to watch as soon as the system plants itselt. Get some of that national recognition that a Heisman candidate can bring and there you have a program that fans get riled up for! Can't wait for next week! Bring on FAU! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. It is a nice stadium but after "the wait" I too want ours too look a bit different than a spruced up Fouts. I see those metal bleachers and it just reminds me of our empty endzones. The Wait sounds like a great movie title and the stadium issue has been every bit the drama it has felt like. We need a really nice new stadium because remember this one might have to last 153 years! Even ghosts like good looking digs. GMG
  19. Love it. I remember our trip to the Academy. TCU has another downer season after getting up for the OOC big dog. Let's play them in Fort Worth in December! GMG New Orleans always first! Fort Worth second!
  20. I like it and if I went to UTA I would dawn some new gear. I like the student involvement - what an concept! Copying success is not the worst thing you can do. UTA - Boise St. Mean Green - Southlake Carroll. GMG
  21. Already spoiled. After watching the Mean Green on the Internet on Saturday and last nights win by the Cowboys, this Arizona/SF game is brutal to watch! When Heap was called for a push off when he caught that touchdown in the first game I immediately thought, ref with money on the game. Wow how stories have affected the sports scene in '08. Everett in Buffalo is just so tragic that it almost seems like the sports world wants to ignore it, somehow dismissing the brutality of the sport we love to watch and have a passion for. THe news is so sobering, sports leaders almost don't know what to say. Talk about a ton of pro-injuries in opening weekend. GMG
  22. Rootin on Colt Brennan and the Warriors to take down UNLV. Let's Go Bows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. A lot of people on this board have a hard on for SMU and like many I am not sure why. The Ponies would be a great program to renew a series with for all of the reasons stated above. It will take the dying off of those old attitudes to finally make it happen, and when it does it will be fun! If NMSU, UNM and UTEP can play each other every year and all sit in different conferences then TCU, SMU and UNT can make it happen and build the tradition and rivalries. I Thank you SMU for hosting us and hopefully we get a chance to keep this thing going. I've missed both of them in person and hope to see a live one down the road. GMG
  24. I am going to see Colt and Co go against UNLV next weekend. I watched the Bows cream them out in the islands last year and thought the Rebels are improved they will not hit him like La Tech did. The Bulldogs play some of the better D in the WAC and Hawaii had to work for that win. Granted they gave up 45, but Hawaii is stout on offense and they are fun to watch. Once the system is built it is deadly to try and stop - Mean Green are coming! GMG
  25. Those D1AA schools were a must schedule as a result of pull-outs from bigger schools due to the danger Hawaii poses. Few want to play the Warriors (Bows) out in the islands because they are not an easy bunch. Throw in a Heismann candidate quarterback and UH can make some waves. The win by Washington was helpful especially if the Huskies can upset some folks in a strong arse Pac 10. They get Boise over Thanksgiving and Washington to round out the season. Should be interesting! Let's Go Bows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GMG
