  1. The more I look at it the more it looks like it will happen. Oh my how the energy pendelum would swing south. It would be interesting to see how the pony fan would welcome his style. He is about giving people second chances, bringing in some non-traditional students, and will require a lot of control. He would be perfect for SMU in that he would be getting a low hanging fruit program and be able to grow it up like he did Hawaii. Change the culture, build the brand and sell the city of Dallas on Mustang football again. WOW. This is going to be exciting for the Metroplex. Dodge Ball is only going to get better, the froggies are going to get worried and Jones and is going to build - Top notch football in the Metro for the next 10 years! GMG
  2. I think that is an awesome idea. They more appreciation they feel from the mean Green fanbase, the harder they will work to make sure our Green Day experience continues to be top notch! Remember, everyone needs to feel the love, players, coaches, AD and team, Green Brigade, fanbase, opposing teams fans. Tis the season to plan for an amazing 08! GMG
  3. Something about finding out that you are living in the most isolated populated land mass in the world - 2500 miles from the nearest land - San Francisco. I spent 3 amazing years in Hawaii and would go back in a heartbeat, but it definitely brings it into perspective when you are an 8 hour flight from Dallas and an 8 hour flight from Tokyo. Jones would be smart to get out now - but smu? I guess if the money talks and it would certainly be a new challenge. What are his long range goals because exposure would be greater on the mainland for sure - does he want a big time program? Does he want back in the NFL? If not, stay on the rock, hibachi on the beach, surf the north shore and watch all the freezing people on the weather channel and say, "gosh am I glad I am not there." Disagree on the Belt team not busting the bcs. If a Troy, NT, FAU ran the table we will be in a bcs bowl. We all play tougher teams than what Hawaii did this year. By the way received all the Hawaii gear in the mail for Christmas, so I am rooting for the Bows to pull the upset! GO COLT! GMG
  4. everyone takes their time making the "change" to the other side. however after my first year on the alumni side i love it! You get good game angles without the sun in your face, can still hear the band in full force and yell with the cadences. I also love walking across the field at the end and standing in front of the band as they play "you will never walk alone." we sway from the field with the band alumni and watch the fireworks from the field - new seats, new traditions. still crazy! GMG
  5. whatever UNT will rock in the coming years whether they were in cusa, big 12, sbc or wac. it's all about the green. its all about the future! GMG
  6. The tough thing is that even after we become friends, I still think of them as their handle and practically introduce them that way. As a business major I sure struggled and still do with real names. So Adler, Firefightin Rick, Emmitt, Harry, MeanRob, Cerebus, Jaydub, Stebo, Deepgreen, MarkMiller, SUMG, MoGreen, you all are doomed to your handles for almost 10 years now and beyond! beat FIU! GMG
  7. It has been the most underwhelming upset even though it is a MONSTER accomplishment! Didn't this team almost take down the next National Champion just a few short weeks ago? South Florida goes into Auburn and wins and pops into the top 20. ULM goes into Tuscaloosa and accomplishes what Southern Miss desperately tries to do but is almost alway unsuccessful - beat Bama! Amazing job and I am convinced the SBC is better than CUSA this year. We should be ranked ahead of them in D1A. We have had some eye-popping OCC wins. Love for the Belt! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I love watching Troy and FAU shine for our league! It has always baffled me when some think this league is ours to dominate or lose. I wish! I enjoyed those 4 years in New Orleans because it may be the next decade before we sniff the New Orleans Bowl again. Look at how tough the road for MTSU has been! Way to go Troy! Way to go FAU! Let all this frustration out on Navy! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. This has to be smoke. Air Force has long-standing ties with all of those powers and good rivalries with the rest of the academies. This is not happening anytime soon and while the MWC is not the Big East in regard to priviledge, it is equal the league in my opinion without the automatic bid. GMG
  10. I think Barnett would be a solid hire. They need a coach who knows x's and o's unlike the celebrity hire James would be. Whoever the coach is I would hope they see a UNT/SMU/TCU trivalry as a great thing! beat Navy! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. This was a great game and it was cool to witness history! However, a close second on great finishes tonight includes LSU and the Tide. The Dream season continues for the Tigers! GMG
  12. Don't even pay attention to the impatience. A few more wins with a unstable foundation = frustration for years. Dodge is doing it the right way and people who are calling for heads simply may not have built things for long-term success before. Let them whine and let them yell when we win. They simply wear their emotions on their sleeve and don't like to keep things under control. Remember that everyone on here is part of the Mean Green Nation and all are needed to take this program to the next level. In Dodge We Trust! Beat mtsu! GMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Don't underestimate the style of play. Kids want to play in a Mizzou, Tech, North Texas, Boise State, Pac 10, Purdue, Louisville type system where you get freedom, numbers and have fun. Dodge's system will be a recruiting tool for years to come! J-Dub no problem I was in Denton for the ULM game, but next time let me know and I will get us on the list at Studio 54 and Tabu Ultra Lounge with drinks at Rouge and Centrifuge in between. Beat the Blue Raiders! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. At least we have hope. I was at the CSU vs UNLV game tonight and the winless Rams rolled into Sin City and steamrolled the Rebels for homecoming. UNLV has won 2 games this year and won 2 last year. They are forgotten young men on the Vegas sports scene. Sanford (Coach) is under fire and the fans are peesed. The team was booed off the field at half after trailing 24 - 3. What I did notice was a good contingency of Ram fans dressed up in horns, wearing big yellow Texas sized cowboy hats, painted up in green and gold and were rowdy. This coming from a team that had yet to win a game. Two things: 1. I respect the Ram Nation for still following the team this season. Every time they saw other Ram fans in passing they would yell "RAMpage!" and high five, chant... 2. I am glad we are not UNLV football. That program has a long road ahead of it and they are where we were a year ago without a Todd Dodge on the horizon Okay 3 things: 3. A storm blew in and there were 50 mph gusts in the stadium all night with sustained winds between 20 - 30 mph. Desert dust and debris swirled all night and pelted the small crowd making it tough to watch the game without your eyes half closed. The storm blew in 5 minutes into the game so a lot of us including myself were unprepared. So I decided on hot chocolate at half and you know you are in Vegas when you can get that cocoa with a shot of Jack Daniel, Kahlua or Bailey's Irish Cream. Viva Las Vegas! BEAT MTSU GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
  15. That special touch or detail e-mail as I call it makes a lasting impression. It does several things: 1. reminds you of how much fun you had 2. previews the next game (Troy) 3. psyches you up for the next round (MTSU) GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. Who else besides me expected a role reversal? I thought it would take an entire season for this system to plant itself. Yet I hoped we would remain in games with our D. Isn't that how it usually goes? I think this fanbase is just shellshocked - we can only take so much change at one time: 1. new system 2. new D (or lack of it) 3. new coach speak 4. new tailgating procedures:) 5. new beatch points 6. new unis 7. new shade of green Seriously, I know I am blown away that this doesn't even look like the old North Texas that I have grown up with on both sides of the ball. I enjoy seeing points again. Watching porous D at any level is just as bad as watching Dickey's inability to score. Dickey will be okay in Utah. If he continues to develop his Jamario and QB, he will have some success in the pass happy WAC, because his approach will be different. Even the Hawaii announcers last night were commenting that this was not the same USU they blew out in Logan last year. I was still living there and witnessed that hapless team. This team has fight, grit and had more success out on the islands than Hawaii or Myself expected. With that said I am happy where we are heading. Next week's tailgate and game is about family, friends and good times. The game will be fun too but I am not expecting a win the rest of this season. The Ws will come, just not in 2007. GMG
  17. 10-10 - ball control keeping them in it in the second quarter. Let's Go Bows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. I was always waiting for Meager to throw the pick of doom and he usually obliged. I don't get that fear with Vizza. Vizza will only get better. Thank you Meager and good luck with your post graduation plans. GMG
  19. I am getting ready to listen to it: 1420 AM carries Hawaii's football games! Let's Go Bows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Dodge says the Defense gave up 5 or 6 plays like that was a good thing - that is 35 or 42 points! I never felt comfortable like we were going to win this thing. Unless we got the lead with .02 ticks on the clock I don't trust this team! Oh well - good parking and tailgating for next week's game! GMG
  21. North Texas 36 ULL 20 GMG
  22. I love that name! I hope we play the Safeway Bowl every year and like someone mentioned awhile back - for a trophy of a grocery bag. Nevada and UNLV play for the freedom canyon, the skillet is taken, there are al kinds - Safeway Bowl and a bag of groceries is classic! GMG
  23. There are no wrong moves in life and I respect someone who wants the challenge a heck of a lot more than someone who makes a move and has remorse. Repackage, redefine and make it work! GMG
  24. The late eighties were frustrating but in hindsight gave us some great moments - big wins, fantastic showings against the big boys and some great rivalries with SWT, Arkie State, NLU, SHSU, ACU. The frustrating part came in the playoffs when we couldn't win a game - down to Marshall, down to Boise State I think. We had the horses but couldn't land the right playoff matchupps. GMG
  25. I have examined this type of system up close after following Hawaii closely this decade. Like Hawaii I think we are going to have up and down years with this being a natural down year. It wasn't until June Jones' last two years that there was consistency under Colt Brennan. They would win 9 and the next year win 4, then win 10, then win 5. We may get consistency once Riley gets to Denton but unless you get the right players to funnel into this system we may experience ups and downs. This system is tough to disguise - a high risk/reward situation. GMG
