  1. You just threw a cold bucket of water in my face! Can you imagine 0-12! I mean it is hard to fathom how this fanbase will feel as we go to 0-7 ,0-8, 0-9, 0-10, 0-11, 0-12. I mean it has already felt like two seasons! WOW gmg! Please don't let that happen!
  2. That is how I feel from a distance. I have seen a different student energy than ever before. Had we gone 0-5 when I was in school there would be nobody in that stadium, there would have been 0 tailgating (which there wasn't any anyway), you wouldn't even know we had a home game. I have also never seen a more energetic Green Brigade, so I am hopeful about this vote. We are going to go from having the worst stadium in the SW to having one of the best in a few short years! The players will follow and teh record will improve. GMG
  3. don't much care for vito. I don't expect a cheerleader as he is not paid to be one, but talk about a flat piece of work. in fact many of the pieces i see from him are just flat out doom and gloom. i do my best to distance myself from doom and gloom people and his work does not enthuse me. gmg
  4. it just went blank on me. Is anybody else watching it online and is it working for you?
  5. It will be interesting to see. I have seen the Mean Green play Tulsa and Rice in person, LSU and FIU on the tube. This team's psyche is sooooooooooooooooooooo fragile that the second something goes wrong, like an easy touchdown or blocked punt, or fumble it's like this aura comes over them that shuts them down! That is what is so weird, because I have never seen a North Texas team fall apart even against crazy odds, and I have seen UNT as a solid D1AA. You mean to tell me that they are so ginger that they fall apart at the first sign of adversity! I have seen outmatched teams play hard through 4 quarters at A&M, in Austin, in Lubbock, in Colorado Springs, in Tempe, in Troy, in Death Valley, in Little Rock, in Boulder, in Norman, in Lafayette, in Monroe, in Waco, in New Orleans...This team looks like a high school squad going up against USC! I would love to think some things will change this week, but I don't have faith. You need strength, will, and fight to make that happen and this poor team lacks simple confidence. I sat here watching FAU and Troy thinking they are going to KILL US! Again, boys become men and I hope these young men choose to grow from this experience. Lord knows the MG Nation is undergoing something most of us have never been through before. At the end of the day if we get the stadium passed I will consider this season a success. Because if you can do that in this climate at this time in the transformation of the program, I have great hope for the future of NT football. I will see a charged up student fanbase believing in hope and for a better program down the line. That will be a much different fanbase than when I was in school 20 years ago! GMG
  6. See what happens when they let you out of Utah! Long live Zion:) GMG
  7. I never thought I would ever see in my 22 years as a Mean Green diehard: 1. UNT in a bowl game 2. UNT win a bowl game 3. UNT go to four consecutive bowl games 4. A 25 or whatever consecutive conference game streak by UNT 5. toothpaste green become the Mean Green color of choice 6. own a toothpaste North Texas tee shirt 7. See rice score 77 on the lean green and beat us down by 57 points 8. FIU score 42 and blow us out at home by 32 points 9. the Ragin Cajuns come into Fouts as 23 point favorite (no offense) But I also never seen a team look like a high school squad line up against a college looking team with athletes, muscle and speed. My Cajun friends you will have never seen anything like what you are about to witness on Saturday in Fouts. The name on the helmet and jersey still says North Texas, but that is where any semblence of the successful North Texas ends. Good luck to the Cajuns this season, enjoy Denton and get us while you can. Mean Green will be back one day! GMG
  8. I have the grill fired up and am having to control myself from throwing every bit of Mean Green gear and paraphanalia I have in it. I almost want to wash this chapter of mean green life from the brain - toothpaste green and all.
  9. The band is top notch this year and Bohemian Rhapsody is the best opening ever! Loving the Green Brigade this year! Most spirit in those students as a group in a long time if not ever. Well done! GMG
  10. Wouldn't that be something if on Sunday we wake up and sitting on top of the conference standings is the worst team in America! Of course by that time we will have been moved up the polls or down them gladly giving our spot to Idaho or Florida International! Better yet make that SMU! I will be channeling 2001 on Saturday and the beginning of another surprise in Mean Green Country! GMG
  11. That was a hell of a game and the Belt provided a great game for the Nation tonight. Is anyone else looking forward to that FAU Troy War that is on the horizon! FAU is going to play desperate and Troy is formidable period. This is going to be a fun race and hopefully we can snag an upset before the year is over. GMG
  12. gameplan - saving some flight fare for LaLa and maybe Troy but still getting to root on the Green with my ice cold tecate and bbq from a distance! beat the panters GMG
  13. Traveling pant suits unite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The stock market is plunging Rice is still scoring Cowboys stunk it up The sky is still falling Oh look the Mean Green play Saturday - all is good in the world:) Bring on Saturday so I can get this taste out of my mouth! GMG
  14. Even the 11th hour scramble to get an ad in the local rag is alarming. Where is the branding campaign? I went through that Business School and the talent is there. I just have not seen enough literature, marketing, campaigning, cheerleading to feel comfortable with this effort. The preview is everything and equally as important if not more important than the vote itself! Yet, we are arguing with each other 3 weeks out about the pros and cons of putting out an ad in the Daily! Look, I like the people in our leadership. I appreciate so much of what has been done to improve the gameday experience, take a bold step in hiring Dodge (fortune favors the bold), and all of the other nuances that have exploded since I was a student over 20 years ago! I sang Happy Birthday Dr. B on Saturday! I just expect first class, crisp, visionary efforts on all fronts. Decisions made in 2008 will be affecting Octobers in 2032 and 2033. The football team is a worry, but the stadium vote is a priority. Where is the business acumen, the marketing strategy, the plan to remove all doubt that this commitment and change will occur in 2008? We all need to chip in and get to work. 21 days is not much time and every person on that campus and on this board can make a contribution. Dodge - win; Fans - show up; Students - recruit; Athletic Dept. - coordinate - 2 home games before the vote provide huge opportunities! See everyone in October! GMG
  15. Seriously guys - under 30 in the first half! I can't see it! And I am not talking about a combined total! We will shoot out of the helmet and reel off 21 point, wait 20 because there is that extra point drama, but the Panthers will be golden with at least 28. We will be sucking wind trying to keep up until we just give up in a demoralizing fashion - hate to say it but this team only plays tough until it is competitive. It will not be competitive after the 3rd quarter based on what I have seen so far. Fast-forwarding past unt IU 48 #1 North Texas 27 gmg
  16. I have never felt closer to Armageddon than from where I sit today. I know the MEAN GREEN faithful and I have lived near volcanos - Volcanos have nothing on what is stirring below the Nation surface. I feel the torches are being drenched as I type. GMG - for the sake of our University get a W this weekend! Feel free to burn down Fouts, but save the cheerleaders save the world!
  17. At some point will these guys nut it up and will themselves into a competitive situation? It's like that adrenaline rush that eventually allows you to play above your head, talent and skill! You would think that time is coming for our guys but it doesn't even seem close. Maybe this weekend, because at this point they should be the dog in every game the rest of the year. gmg
  18. I was feeling compelled to apologize to the Rice fans for my University not giving them more of a game. Rice has been where we were before so I think they felt pretty sad for the mean green. did I really watch my university beat texas tech twice, oregon state, texas, cincy? its not a pretty place and hope is thin. gmg
  19. 4 years - look we are halfway through dodge's tenure with us - in 2009 we will be better or we will only have one more year to stomach. By this time next year if we are in the same position we can begin thinking about our next dream coach to lead us into the new stadium. right now I am not calling for dodge's head but this time next year and 70 to UAB or something like that and we can begin the interview process. mean green win either way! gmg
  20. Yesterday was the first time Vizza looked human to me - frustrated, error prone, upset, forceful. Poor kid was playing under amazing pressure these past couple of years and now with Riley looking over his shoulder it has to be gut wrenching on the inside to have a game like yesterday. I am sure Todd used the opportunity to reassure him and what a great teaching and learing opportunity was provided. Vizza is a good QB. I like him and want him to succeed personally. I have a feeling the team is going to come out with a vengence on saturday. It probably can't get here quick enough for the entire team. purr purr panthers - they are going to get a fight next week - maybe not a loss but a hell of a fight! "Are you gonna keep it strong, move along move along like I know you do!" GMG
  21. Look that is June Jones style of play, now Todd Dodge style of play. You can't or won't just turn off your style and turn on another. June Jones never did it when Hawaii was awful and there were 68 - 3 type scores at the hands of Boise on the blue turf. Hawaii also had an 0-12 season, something we may experience before Todd turns it around. When Hawaii was up they wouldn't or couldn't keep the ball on the ground to run the clock down. That is why I say we have made the commitment in full to this type of offense and play. We must take the humiliation and exhilaration and press on. GMG
  22. I am not the football expert but I can see that the lack of a pass rush is killing us. Only when the qb gets pressured do we even get them close to a 3rd down. Our defenders are not going to make a pic so go ahead and leave them exposed. I can't stand the pitch and catch and nobody fears our pass defenders. Bring the kitchen sink every time if they get the occasional TD in 2 plays instead of 6 plays then so be it. Maybe we disrupt the offense or jar a ball loose every game. That is our only hope in my opinion. GMG

    Sad

Its just painful because there were a lot of "new" fans in the stands yesterday - H-town and SE texas fans just waiting to jump on board. What did the teenager in front of me say to the rest of his family - big sis, mom, dad and other brother - "Next time we come watch North Texas can I wear a blue shirt?" Poor kid didn't even have a North Texas shirt but wore a Proper Green regular shirt to watch the game. I think the Dad was the grad and they made the exodus in the 3rd qrt - opportunity lost. GO MEAN GREEN!!!

    Sad

Were you there to witness Rice practically taking a knee the entire 4th quarter? The schedule - 2 weeks to prepare for Rice and that is what you put out on the field - intensity, emotion? Again be Relentless MGN there can be no more excuses and you had never ever ever quit as a member of my team. As the leaders of this program we had better demand excellence or we are not doing the program and those young men justice. And yes, I will be there in October and hopefully November even if we are staring at 0-12. But do not quit on my watch. GMG
  25. yeah this article pissed me off - it made it sound like he stepped into the mess instead of causing it! unbelievable. We must be relentless about this program and I am talking about everybody - Rick, Gretchen, the Nation, the Green Brigade (the best group I have ever seen at UNT by the way - thank you). World class brands are relentless about service, excellence and creating a magical experience for it's shareholders (owners!). We must demand improvement. Dodge must make statements about that product on the field. the players don't have time to or the priviledge of letting up. they must deliver or decide to not put on the name and the logo. they represent the greatest university in the world in my opinion and you had better take that responsibility seriously or be freed up to become a lumberjack or bearcat. that is all I can say - is be relentless mean green nation and DO NOT let up on this program - NEVER! GMG
