Let's Hire Boise State's Offensive Coordinator
NM Green replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm with Kram here in that we shouldn't speculate until the time has come. I was watching them talk about the boise coach last night and dang i want todd to succeed because all the pieces are there for us to cement the foundation if he can get this team to win. He is little like Rick V in that it is taking longer than desired and in coaching you don't have the luxury of time. Then I saw an interview with wandstedt and he finally turned the Panthers into a BE power but it took time. Dodge has 1 more year to show amazing progress. We should have seem glimmers of hope thus far and going 0-5 in gut wrenching defeats is not hope. We should have lucked into at least 1 of those wins but we didn't. the only reason Fran and Steve look attractive is because they have assembled beasts before. that is what we must get if Dodge is not our guy for long term. the tcu d coordinator is not a bad idea because the bloodline is solid. Either way Dodge has a beautiful job in a great market with a brand new house on the way. The UNT head coaching job is much more attractive today than it has been in decades! It must be coveted and not underestimated. The Transformation of UNT has begun and we and who we do business with must respect all that UNT is and will become. The season starts today! Beat the red wolves! GMG!!! -
Let's Hire Boise State's Offensive Coordinator

Just say no to boise coaches - they don't win outside of the bronconation. It's like drafting a Duke player into the NBA - they rarely translate into studs in a different setting. Franchione or Kragthorpe if no solid improvement in year 4. GMG -
I was referring to the emotional state of the program and it's fans - not the leaders of the team. No comparison between dodge the coach and hawkins the coach. But they and we are in similar modes as to how we feel right now - do you invest or cut the line? Rebuild or infuse more trust. My friend who is a buff fan has the same questions and saturday frustrations we do - they dislike the son one moment and the coach even more the next. its just a weird situation for both programs with the coach/son relationships, losing losing losing and fanbases lost, unsure of what to do, what they can do (support don't support) and are ready to explode! GMG

the coaching similarities/situations are eerie. CO fan is not happy and as frustrated as us! GMG

Really? Boy it sux to only have 2 wins:) I went round and round with some canadiens last night that can't believe our country's opposition to universal health care. He found out I was from Texas and boy did I do our state proud. The Texas spirit is about freedom - UNT is about freedom on roids. Those co-workers have an interesting road ahead of them if they think this is unacceptable! Good grief - get us to 3 please! GMG

i'll be there because I bought the plane ticket after the WKU game! My goal is to have one more fun crazy time with all the greenbloods who are living alongside me through this bloodcurdling year. it will be a special environment and fun until they start running it down our throats. GMG

I'll be there! 24 years of watching the Mean Green and THE DAY is drawing near! GMG

Just When You Thought Our College Football Irrelevance
NM Green replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree that watching smu win the new orleans bowl this year will suck; however, i will say that the message of non-commital will be sent after next year. We have backed ourselves into a rock and a hard place and must live with dodge 1 more year. of course at that point smu will probably be competing for a bcs game and tcu will have another 10 win season - so we might improve or see the light at the end of the tunnel but we will be part of the dfw irrelevance smu has been for decades. grv p.s. - doesn't mean the coaching search and interviewing process cannot begin behind the scenes now. -
I'm Still Not Freaking Out.

my concern with dodge and our fanbase is that there is no sense of urgency or burning platform. this team, athletic dept and fanbase need to be standing on a burning platform initiating change and execution. this is not happening anywhere and that pisses me off! if you have high standards and expectations, surround yourself with winners, you often succeed. you sccrew up you are out of here. there had to be year 1 year 2 year 3 goals and someone please tell me that these goals are being reviewed, actions are evaluated and accountability ensues. if that is not our athletic department today then top leadership needs to go. I had a meeting tihs week with a casino owner who asked why this employee was still here and she did was fail to offer features and benefits on a reservation call. he said if she doesn't get written up, the manager gets written up, if the manager doesn't get written up the director gets written up, if the director doesn't get written up the vice president gets written up - he calmly said - someone is getting written up for poor performance! I knew what I needed to do after that meeting - why doesn't this staff? GRV -
Remember when the Army game looked exciting and a must see! could this groundbreaking situation be happening in a more dire state? what a shame - we didn't have to be here - but here we are - a crossroads: a tragic past and an unknown future. GRV

Dear Florida International Stadium Announcer Guy!

oh my gosh - i have never heard a job like that it was unbelievably brutal -
dodge keeps saying we have 4 more games we have 3 more games we have 2 games we have a new coach! shucks didn't hear that one, yet:) i don't care how much you love our school - you are embarrasing us saturday after saturday GRV
-
we are in an episode of Mean Green Saw - a torture chamber with no food, drink and wins! grv
-
groundbreaking the highlight next week - will not embarrass self by inviting friends. this blind support is gruesome that you are asking us to continue to provide. i'm so disgusted - not shocked just saddened beyond belief. mtsu and lala on tv today had tragic support in the stands and mtsu is cruising to a bowl! If UNT had that record and was in that state our crowds would be out of control. go get a real coach who has won it at the college level - no more experiments. grv

is this the worst 2 game stretch in like 25 years? a stench in fouts last week - a tragic announcer - a blown loss - i don't feel sorry for this team or coaching staff - save it - this team and our university football program is a joke -
you are right - dodge should be fired in the parking lot
-
how can you say - don't care any louder
-
what about all that running that dunbar was going to be able to do! my stomach is turning! GMG
-
Do you really want any distractions at this point if you are TCU? Isn't Utah enough? Ain't nobody picking the Utes to come in and even play a game on Saturday. This is starting to remind me of the BYU drama a few years ago or was the Indianapolis Colts - someone worrying a lot about the color socks they were wearing with the uni - went out and got beat down. Don't think it will happen on Saturday but the traditionalist have got to be grabbing their stomachs now. GMG

Why Is Rv Immune From The Firing Line?
NM Green replied to SteaminWillieBeamin's topic in Mean Green Football
I applaud Rick V for this hire of Dodge because it was risky as he**ll! I mean talk about thinking out of the box and getting huge pub the first 2 seasons! But I know Rick bleeds Green now and he is frustrated as heck like we are. I love the fact he feels our pain unlike Helwig did. Helwig didn't even care about UNT at the end and Rick V is determined to turn this ship around. He has not been perfect but I love a risk taker and he has taken us through the good and bad. Most importantly what we will see at 11:00am in less than 2 weeks has made me appreciate his time at UNT forever! Thank you Rick and GMG! -
I was thinking about the loss to UNT too. You know that was a nail just as it would have been for Dodge had we lost to the red blobs. GMG
-
With all due respect I wanted to see Tune get a shot just to mix it up on Saturday because without any threat of the deep ball this team is doomed! Riley has to improve in that area or we will be like those bad Tech teams that got figured out and shut down - 6 points of frustration but a suntan on Saturday. GMG
-
why was the "expecting to win" comment so disturbing? I am just curious because I am missing the agregiousness in the statement and would like clarification. I would hope he was expecting to win. It was ULM and they are stout on D, but they are still ULM and as a fan I sure expected them to win. ULM played a practically perfect game. I kept waiting for that break or to cause a break and nothin ever came our way - frustrating! GMG

That was one of the worst games I have ever seen in my 23 years of following Mean Green football and it was because it was home. Talk about uninspired play. Our guys looked like they were sleepwalking. Again have not seen before my eyes the Mean Green win in like 4 years or something like that. I keep picking the non-western kentucky game - darn me! The tailgating lot was empty compared to Sep & Oct games. I showed up 15 mins before game time and landed a $10 slot. Even the attendants looked bored and sad they had to take my money. Gosh the juice is off this situation. I don't even think SLC people are showing up anymore. So glad my tailgate friends decided not to go because the whole event reminded of that crazy Tuesday night affair a few years back against Troy. Remember how random that game seemed? At least we won 21-0 if my memory serves me right. Oh well - now I go for the Green Brigade and to see some old friends. See you at the groudbreaking and Army - 1 more tragic fireworks show followed by the best Green Brigade closing song ever! GMG
