Remember when Nebraska use to look scary! Weird watching the Nebraska in those tradition rich unis look bad and little! Colorado the same thing! I know Big 12 football is about finesse but Texas still looks like a Texas sized football team. These 2 teams tonight look like JV compared to the LSU, Florida, Georgia USC, OSU's of the world. They look like the mid MWC/WAC teams of UNLV Hawaii... CSU, BYU Utah and even Boise look stronger and more talented than two of the Big 12's premiers - especially Nebraska! How in the heck can they not recruit cornfed players to overwhelm a line and run the ball down a Mizzou style team? Eventually you get an ugly(playing) qb like FLA and you find yourself winning games that fit your style. This will never be Nebraska's style in my opinion. TCU would be cleaning red or gold clocks tonight. GMG

You are not kidding - probably 22K. Watching Nebraska and Mizzou is reminding me of that constant downpour - yet both team played way more crisp than what is on ESPN tonight. Betcha Army brings in about 26k. GMG

What? It's Thursday And No Score Prediction Thread?
NM Green replied to gangrene's topic in Mean Green Football
UNT 34 Louisiana 24 GMG -
I would love to see us score 34 points! If we do I believe we win because I bet the D rips back with a good performance and keeps La La to 24 or less. GMG

not so fast my friend. riley has yet to complete a season, knows how to communicate to the media, has leadership abilities and has the potential to develop. Romo loves hollywood, doesn't like pressure, has had many years to prove his worth and lacks leadership skills. Riley is not God but check this comment inabout 2 years when McGee is quarterbacking the Boys and UNT is hoping to compete for championships. Way premature. GMG

I guess my only observation is that strong 1AA teams are still more competitive against the big dogs than we have ever been since we use to line up against Texas, Tech, Rice back in the day. Texas State, App State, Georgia Southern still have reps of laying it out and going toe to toe. With that said I believe this team had better have an urgency button planted in their heads the month of October. They must somehow go down and get that game in Lafayette. Its a must. It won't be easy, moral victories don't count. Just get it done or this season is going to be a wash. They are probably not going to win at Troy, so they must steal the Ragin Cajun game and go 2-0 at home. I have absolutely no problem having that expectation and neither should our coaching staff. Just get it done! GMG

Wouldn't it be something if the lowly lobos would somehow nut it up and keep it close against tech! Dickey on the plains again, tech not the tech of 2008, New Mexico grind it up on the ground looking like UNT of old, Locksley on hot seat - not predicting, just saying... GMG

So the first weekend at home after a September run of fun and I turn on College Gameday to the epic tussle between Florida St and BC? Really? Memo to BC fans - you are only on TV and have gameday there because all of the other matchups are either not stellar or were tarnished. I would rather watch gameday in Miami or Berkley or heck how about Fort Worth! Too bad Big Bad Boise scheduled UC Davis this weekend or they may have snagged espun up to Idaho this weekend. UNLV on the road, no Mean Green to tune in or fly to - kinda having a mid-season withdrawal! GMG

Yeah a quick trip home even for a loss is better than a weekend in Vegas on a football weekend any fall:) I appreciate the tailgates and friends and hope a win will come - but competitive football, sunny days, rainy days, Greenbacker friends and beer all make for memorable emotional connections that last a lifetime. It's the best time of year - no trash talk - just fun - just tailgates - hope for wins! No beaching - it is the best time of year!!! GMG

Week # 4 Rankings - College Football News
NM Green replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
I know it's bold but we just played the hardest home game of the season and the team never quit! Those are good signals in my book. October will be sweet and November Rain to follow - as in Riley raining touchdowns because the system will be in sync and we finish the year strong! GMG -
U N T / Muts Bleacher Report - Primed For An Upset ?

A big time game for the Mean Green at Fouts Field! Doesn't that just feel good again:) GMG -
Dodge didn't want another 77-0 Oklahoma game or whatever that was - can you blame him? We have too many positives starting to roll and it doesn't make sense to get hurt and only losing by 20. This wasn't Vandy or Wake, this was the 4th ranked team in the country! Nothing we were going to do was going to be them at this stage in our game. Time to move on and get back on the W side. When we go 2-2 at the end of September we will be 4 wins away from bowl eligibility! Bring it Mean Green and let's go 1-0 in SBC play! GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!

No turning here! I am looking forward to a great game with great weather and a fantastic win next Saturday! I have suffered through 2 close second losses and the tide will turn soon:) Last night I went to the Hawaii vs UNLV game with another 10,000 crazy Hawaiian and Hawaii supporters! It was a blast but the Warriors fell with 40 seconds left, losing 34-33. Great game but I was like dang two last second falls! This is a great sign because we have plenty of awesome wins ahead beinning next Saturday! Ice the beer boys and girls:) GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!

I'm Liking Our Chances Vs. Middle Tennesse
NM Green replied to Will to Win's topic in Mean Green Football
We win next week and go 2-2 in September! Tough October ahead but we still a win Lafayette or Troy and we are in fantastic shape heading into November. The goal is 2-2 each month - 3-1 each month the rest of the way, sweet and we are bowling! GMG -
really? get the ribs and bbq sauce boys and girls - next week it is back on and on our way to New Orleans! GMG
-
GO MEAN GREEN LETS GO!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!
-
They will be waiting with their ears pinned back. I believe in the Mean Green but athletically Bama is going to overwhelm us. The key is to stay healthy and go 2-2 in September. I want to go bowling dang it! That is why last night hurt, but we will be on the cusp of bowl eligibilty in November. Bama is a different animal - if we were headed to Tuscon or Ames I would say hey, strut with that swagger into their house - Bama is tired of playing non-bcs teams close. I don't think we get Troy crushed, but not sure if we can win. Never say never - keep the faith! GMG
-
Nothing would have stayed dry last night! When the only complaint was a bummer 2 point conversion and nothing hot to drink at the snack bar - that is the sign of a great game in my mind:)! GMG

Totally worth the flight in and Sis said best game she had ever seen at UNT. She has followed UNT along with me for 20 years now but missed that crazy Nevada game in the rain, Utah State slugfest and the Miracle in the Desert. So she has seen a lot but had an absolute blast along with the other 5 in tow - great fan recruiting tool and all are headed back to the Middle game if goes as planned! So great time by all! Great effort! Great drama! Leaps forward for this program and somewhere down the line we will get that W back! The fun has just begun:) Back to Vegas with a smile and see everyone at the Tailgate in 2! GMG shock bama!

I think we get more snow than rain a year. We are up to a whopping 1.2 inches for the year! Yet bring on another golf course - we can steal water from Reno and Utah:) Our neighbors love us! Viva Las Vegas! GMG

New Restaurant On Fry Street
NM Green replied to Travis's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I wish them well but I have got to be honest - that ad chaps my arse. These business owners have to realize that everything communicates, and seeing a new bar steps from my University tout UT games is below standard. High standards motivate, and in the spirit of recovery I hope these owners realize that they have a golden opportunity to create loyal patrons. But they need to act quick and with excess otherwise my green dollars and others will go to the Pour House and other restaurants that truly support the Mean Green. Go Mean Green!!!!! -
Scott Hall was our Applewhite - tenacious - loved by the fans for his fight and competitive grit! Played above his perceived ability! Definitely HOF. GMG
