I like having a business man at the helm right now. I see improvement on the promotions front and desire to lure fans with offerings and fresh options. Get that influencer on board and have them pummel the campus to draw up interest. Have them roam the tailgate to capture fun stories and shots. Students and Alumni, like Johnny on Jesse Watters Primetime. This department needs to be run like a professional sports team. Just a few ideas: Denton Guyer Giveaway Day Denton High Giveaway Day how many high schools do we have? the Guyer and Denton jersey could integrate their logos sports name or colors and reflect SOW or Mean Green. Happy Hour 90 minutes before kickoff on the social deck. FAU did this with a great cheap beer price before kickoff. Texas Rangers has $4 Karbach drafts on weekends and discounted Ranger Waters on Mariachi Mondays. DTX t-shirt day. A cool integrated shirt with UNT and DTX. A ploy to draw Denton fans to the games for personalized gear. It’s high time Denton starts wearing and playing up that pride we share from knowing how that quirky town rocks. Music night. A stylish hat you would see on some lounge act performers. Of course promoting our UNT music heritage or a Grammy hat. Not a ball cap necessarily maybe a beret. Mason Fine bobble head night. Do this when we draw UTSA home next year. Denton Teachers night offering a slick ball cap and integrating the DATCU logo. Anything E-games - jersey or shirt with big SOW and proper sponsor. One of the biggest draws at Texas Ranger promotional nights. For the ultimate and due to our partnership, Cowboy night. Mean Green jersey on silver with the Star and SOW prominently displayed. Oh and these promotional items could be a one time charge or add on for season ticket holders. $40 might include that beret and end zone ticket. Season ticket holders could add the hat for $25. They do view Texas State as their rival but They do not like us. And they’ve had the upper hand in football, us in basketball. It’s more organic every year. I really want us to get them this year in the dome. Lots of football ahead. GMG

This is very interesting with these 2. They seem lukewarm to the MWC teams and really haven’t gained steamed with the 12. It’s early but if the AAC continues to perform they could potentially be lured. We play in and near the markets their brethren went to. Strengthen the AAC. GMG

Last year I found these games entertaining. This year they are just frustrating. I say they because this is one of many I feel will come. We tightened up defense in the second half last year. If we do that today we might win. But if we lose this game I will feel like it’s a giveaway. Frustrating. Stops and points hits. Stops and points please. GMG

First, if they’re not wearing Mean Green anymore I just don’t care. Second, when these teams get upset, walloped, play stale whatever they do, it is in the most prime time of slots. They put it together when the pressure is off. We’ve never stumbled upon a Traylor or hired a Coker. We get Diet Coke boy while that school in south Texas gets proven winners and stud upstarts. I know our attendance would be better if we didn’t have such crazy fall downs when people are dialed and the stakes are high. I liked the video introducing himself to us. I personally loved his belief that UNT must meet the workforce needs of our dynamic market. The region is popping and being the largest research institution in North Texas, UNT must step up and supply, contribute. I truly hope this lifts the caliber of recruit and reputation of our esteemed University. Our students must be equipped to compete with the Longhorns and Aggies on the state, national and global stage. Mix in some sports success and this will be an interesting new day in wonderful DTX. Man that Army game is amazing. Highly recommend the planning to attend that game. Spend the night in NYC and ferry up the Hudson to West Point on the party barge. So awesome! Love this lineup! GMG

What I do like is that Morris is doing this his way on his terms. He will own our success or failure. Yesterday he mentioned that at WSU they really got clicking in year 3. Year 2 was an improvement and year three they were competing for the Pac 12 title. I’m hopeful and glad he is making himself accountable. GMG

I had a flow of optimism this morning too. Strange but it came about thinking about college football showing up in a few short weeks. Thinking about roadies to plan and the launch of a Mean Green bourbon maybe got me excited too. Now Texas State being touted as a playoff dark horse. There is barely any energy and expectations around the Mean Green ‘24. Meaning if we beat Tech and or Wyoming in September and take care of SFA and Tulsa, we could have a glow into Halloween month. I still don’t know about SoBama but September still has some possibility to smile. GMG

Hit the Irishmen pub on Boca Raton Blvd. It’s a blast after the game. Perfect plan to stay in Fort Lauderdale and drive up. Hit Takato’s for a fun, awesome sushi experience in Conrad Fort Lauderdale. Overlooking the beach. Sweet. GMG

Thank you for what you do. Grassroots organization is easy to support and feels great. Plus power groups on roadies allows for solid meetups in bars pre and post game. Good chance to meet opposing fans and start building relationships with our conference mates. GMG

Whatever the look they be giving out at our sports teams let’s show up with some numbers. SFA night was last week and the purple showed up in good numbers and this year they got a jersey. The jersey read Jacks on the back. Cool with their purple and white hat from last year. I told them to show up in Denton in gear in a few short weeks. A Mean Green sprawled across the back of a baseball jersey in 2025 would be sweet. GMG

It’s just a constant recruiting season. Constant and continuous. Was chatting with an OU fan and they lost Dillon Gabriel to Oregon. So it happens to all teams every level. They have serious unknowns entering the SEC. I don’t know why but I think Morris could be good at luring key talent. But his results need to show in 2024. GMG
