I would love to run with the west coast G5 powers but I can’t fault our University for not blindly wandering into a new league with what looks like weak leadership and no firm media deal. I’m skittish after Judy. I like our current media access and time zone positioning. We have assets. Show us the media deal. We will contemplate. You gain access to massive North Texas. I really have no problem waiting to see what the PAC media deal is. First, that commish of the PAC doesn’t seem strong. The MWC commissioner is a fireball and she conveys strength and vision. The PAC woman seems to be learning as she goes. All these delayed announcements are not making the PAC look more interesting. They’re making it look more lost to desperate. The deal may indeed be worth the effort to sell ourselves as a valuable candidate. But no need to do that without knowing what we are trying to join. GMG

Been following the Mountain West for decades and you could act like San Diego State or UNLV. As a former UNLV season ticket holder I loathe SDSU but admire them today. They built an identity, established it on the national stage, nourished it and they keep coming back. UNLV meanwhile has floundered. A once proud program stuck in disillusion. The Rebels could be special again with a steady program and leadership but they have gone all over the board looking to reset. Been trying to reset for decades. I was hoping Krueger would work out but again they look lost. We have an identity and will benefit from nourishing it. I like the direction Jared went with Robinson. Keep being a thorn in our conference mates arse and best Memphis soon. It’s Green it’s good. GMG

I have learned over the career journey that we hold a lot more keys and power than people want us to believe. Ross could have said, “Wren I’ll make my decision after UNT’s season is over. I am staying focused, staying the course, my team and University deserve this. Was wren really gonna go get anyone else? Hell I wouldn’t have even interviewed until my current goal was accomplished or unattainable. Then I have a full clear mind to weigh everything even negotiate a stronger deal. I only personally realized this after I’ve been pressured in the business world to act fast or risk losing. When you are solid with a lot to offer they wait. We hold a lot more power than we know. A championship by this team would have elevated each players and coaches profiles immensely. Wren played Ross and crew like the more seasoned business man he is. Now GTFONT. I’m excited about Robinson. I would love to see a coach embrace Denton Texas USA too. Robinson seems thoughtful, strategic, steady and strong. Will this translate into wins, who knows. But a coach that arrives with skins on the wall, affirms his excitement for my University and his opportunity, has my attention and support. Show some love to the Community and get the alumni and locals excited, we’ll build you a statue. Opportunity rocks. GMG

There’s only one major high profile program left to make a national mark and I think we will have a special season. Undefeated, a possibility, probability low. Big win season, fun and championship promise deep into the season I could see happening. Potential goals: Playoffs. AAC Championship. Strong Bowl marquee matchup. New Mexico Bowl or similar. I’m going with AAC Championship goal with a good season being a marquee bowl matchup. We must progress, so minimum is a lower profile bowl win. GMG

This really is the version of the All You Can Eat section at Globe Life Field with limitations. You raise the ticket price for this special a few bucks and get the crowds. You could even make the serving boats and boxes smaller and offer smaller drink sizes to gain back costs. It’s smart. I still think you have promo days too like Mean Joe Green bobble head game, Mason Fine statue day, DATCU stadium replica day, UNT Music Appreciation day with artists performing on the concourses, Art Major Alley with a walking gallery that changes out art each game. We have so much to celebrate about our awesome institution. Just need the creative types on staff to organize the uniquely Denton events. Feel free to go really crazy and have Hispanic Heritage Night on a September game and have delicious Latin snack stations around the stadium. I went to the Real Salt Lake vs FC Dallas game in Utah last month, and the Latino snack stations were packed with all kinds of condiment stations, jugs of lime juice to splash onto salty snacks, hot sauces for the chicarrone bags. It was awesome. Have strolling mariachis play on the concourse, on the Hill, during staged sets on the video board and watch the crowd go crazy. Something you won’t see in Ford or Amon Carter. I’m telling you the non committed UNT fans in the surrounding area are there for the luring. Are primed for the indoctrination. GMG

F. Come on Jared you have to be on top of this! Be relentless about your highly visible incredibly important slice of the university. You know business you know marketing. You know naysayers and roadblocks. You know it’s more than a coach that receives incredible recognition. It’s risk taking. It’s looking fear in the face because once you do that fear disappears. It’s gone. Demand the best for your athletics and people will fill your stadiums and arena. Get in their face tell them what you need and get this university the Athletic profile it deserves and has earned. GMG

Let people whine. Let the emotions roll. Got to move through it to get to it. After the week we’ve had we can feel however we want to. And we still almost played for a Championship. GMG

Life moves at the speed of this Administration. Some are still stuck on luncheon gate, meanwhile we’ve hired a new leader and will battle to play for the Championship tomorrow. It moves fast hold on. I heard so many talking heads dissing UNT deservedly so about the NIT game, yet those same talking heads never show up in Denton for a real game. So I don’t hear them. UNT needs to do better, fans and critics need to do better. The team needs to rest up and get ready to acquire some rings and hardware. Beat UCI! GMG

I don’t know why I feel good about this hire. Perhaps it’s: 1. Jared excels in the boardroom. He will make decisions that have us scratching our head but business knows good business. He obviously has been scoping out Robinson. 2. I like how Robinson has charged up the fanbase. Our announcement, our pride, our top tier mid major program, walking around with the mojo we have earned. 3. I started wondering if other programs were snooping on Robinson and I bet there were. We got him he chose us. I love our legacy with GM and Hodge. The identity has been carved time to build on it. Let’s all leave Denton and this fun season with some awesome vibes. Beat the Eaters. We bought through the UNT allotment last time and it was very smooth. Plan on taking the ferry up from lower Manhattan. It’s the best absolutely the best. GMG

I don’t know. I’ve been enjoying this run knowing sports is cyclical. A 6 year run is great anywhere and at North Texas it’s as rare as a cool July day in Texas. It’s time to finish this season strong and bring home more hardware. We’re still playing hoops in North Texas in April. I think we’ll attract some talented leaders and players. It might not be GM and Hodge good at the front or it could be. Look at Utah State who kept the success train rolling. New Mexico and Colorado State have crazy turnover too and are facing fast rebuilds for their still hungry fanbases. Add UNT to that list. There are some good job openings for rising talent. Denton, Albuquerque and Fort Collins all open at the same time, well not the Rams anymore. I am not that down on Jared on the hiring front because he is more business man than marketing mogul. A good quality in businessmen is an eye for talent. He knows what has been built here. I doubt we ever have a Superpiss embarrassment again like we did this week. Go to work. Get the guy. Keep growing the brand. Check out UCSD, Grand Canyon, Waco and Lubbock please. We are North Texas. We are built with grit for challenge. Win it all baby. GMG

I bet no way to keep it in the bag. This is like McNeese’s coach to NC State. Play it out and everyone know where he is going next. Plays up the hot hire angle too especially when we keep on winning. Now I think we win the NIT. GMG P.S. - I can’t wait until we are in the Big 12 where it will be harder for programs not in the Big or SEC to steal our coaches.

Solution. Build a state of the art 6,000 seat arena prioritized for athletics on the Frisco campus and get sports city USA, Frisco involved. Frisco is ripe to turn Mean Green. That city will embrace family entertainment and fun things to do across the year. At the watch party at Wings Over Frisco I swear some of the tables were made up of UNT Frisco students. They were scooping up the pennants and cooling towels couldn’t believe they were free. It was so cool to see students excited to rep their University. All you need to do is replace 4,500 Denton diehards with 5,000 Frisco family residents, students, and the same traveling alumni. Who do we lose the Denton campus students. It would suck on that front but you could get 5,000 regulars in Frisco in a 6,000 seat arena with some crafty marketing to a hungry city environment. Make UNT basketball Frisco’s team. Radical yea. Deserved yea. Prioritized absolutely. GMG

Yeah that dude can recruit and got some running studs to Jonesboro. They play a fun relentless style of ball. It was a good test for our boys before they head to Stilly. GMG

It was funny because as I was bouncing around a Buffalo Wild Wings in Salt Lake City, I watched the screen to see if their Hail Mary went in. The tv guy lost the shot and we missed the final second. My only comfort was still seeing the crowd going crazy and the team storming the court. But weirder things have happened this is March Madness. A delicious win. Beat Okie State! GMG
