Jumping on and off the ship does not do the program any good. We have a leader here who makes calculated decisions based on many factors. For the life of me, I cannot understand why the support of the basketball team is not better. But this is how it is in Denton. We just have to keep adding people and keep building, there is no other way. Our athletic director understands the consequences of going backwards in football, that is we we didn't didn't get caught off guard and we are going to the aac. There are so many moving parts right now. NIL, transfer portal.... I admire the patience to not get trigger happy and to understand how this is going to all play out. I will say this over and over again, because it bears repeating. The money we donate to the mean green scholarship fund directly impacts young people getting an education that they otherwise cannot afford. The actual tickets to the football game are a small part of my outlay to North Texas Athletics. If one kid graduates and moves on to greater things, then it is all worth it. I want to win as much as the next person, I travel to away games, I have followed this thing over a cliff on many occasions, only to be let down, but I sleep at night knowing that there are countless people that have finished degrees, started companies, started families that my donation money have helped. I am not stopping. I am going to do my part to the best of my ability, and I have faith that when the leadership in this university thinks it is time to make hard decisions, they will. Anyone who has ever been in business has hired and fired people. It is not easy. As for now, we have a very special group playing and coaching basketball. Best to enjoy that while it last, because there is a very strong possibility that it is fleeting.....

Seth is here to stay we need to accept it

I think he needs two years of sustained success to get hired away. Find an above average quarterback and that is not far fetched. You are correct.... -

Ok. To address why there might be some patience. First throw lovelace out. He is a business man and will not stand in the way if North Texas decides it is time to part ways with Coach Litrell. There are two examples of why patience and continuity could be the correct answer. #1 Gary Patterson. In 2004 he went 5-6 and 3-5 in conference. In year 4..... Then backed that up the next year with a 11-1 season and ranked 11th in the a.p. poll. Many on this board have stated multiple times that we are a quarterback away from being really good. #2 I'm not going to look it up, but many Michigan fans have been clamoring for firing Harbaugh prior to this season. If the a.d. there would have had a hair trigger, would they be sitting today in the top 4 playing for a National Championship? The bowl game record stinks. I agree with that. But this is not a 6-7 team that was on a downward trajectory toward the end of the season. This is a 6-7 team that because of undisciplined play, lost a game to Liberty that it should have won, then the lights came on and ran off 5 in a row, one game against a decent utep squad and then utsa. If the team was "lost", then that would have never happened regardless of talent. I am not disagreeing with you guys about anything you are saying, I am just presenting the other side as I see it. The quarterback thing is baffling, going all the way back to McCarney days and the shit show after Derek Thompson graduated. Andrew McNulty is a great guy and I see him at all or almost all of our home games, but he wasn't a very good quarterback. One thing that both Coach Dickey and Coach Dodge always had was a quarterback that operated well in their system. I can't understand why we can't go out and find a kid with the "it" factor. Doesn't have to be tall, needs a servicable arm and just by god knows how to win? Anyway, one last thing, in all the years I have been supporting this institution, I have never once threatened to stop being a donor. Sometimes it feels like I am bashing my head up against the wall. This tailgate thing that we do has turned in to a four day process, starting Thursday and ending on Sunday when we clean up and sanitize all equipment. But I am not quitting. I have faith that the leadership in this university will continue to make the correct decisions to put our kids in the best place possible to succeed. That means facilities, new conference, education.....all of it. On a whole, I am confident that my donations are helping. We provide young people with an opportunity to get an education that many of them could not afford otherwise. Now, its on to the Rice Owls. Its basketball season and we are damn good!!!! This is awesome. Now that the arduous task of the national search for a volleyball coach is completed, maybe we can all settle down and enjoy what is shaping up to be an awesome basketball season.....

Can somebody tell me how the game went in a few brief words please? When I got to my seat after cleaning up it was midway through the first quarter. We were ahead. As soon as I sat down for the first time since 7 a.m. I fell asleep. I dreamed we won.......

Our tailgate team is part of this pregame party. There has been a lot of planning as to how we are going to feed and drink 5000 people. Lets just say I think the "group of alumni cooking" are going to pull it off. As for us, we are going to have a "Western Son Vodka bloody mary bar" Free to all until we run out of course, and we have a sh** ton of vodka. As well as our usual bbq in expanded quantities. I would love to metaphorically leave Frisco in ashes. GO MEAN GREEN!!!!!!!

Wichita State paid us 70K for that butt whipping
flyonthewall replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I feel like they should have done some research into recent history. Us, we advanced to round of 32 in the NCAA TOURNAMENT LAST YEAR!!!!!! We are the back to back defending conference champions. them, they lost to drake in the ncaa tournament last year as an 11 seed and a "first four" participant. If they thought for a second that this game was going to be a cakewalk then they were just well, delusional. Hopefully this game will teach their team what it takes to win against possibly the best defensive team in college basketball. Much like us playing Buffalo, Kansas, Miami, Drake....Oh yeah, the same Drake that beat them in the tourney last year. Look at our record the last two years at this point. Last year 5-5 and the year before, 4-6. Nowhere close to this and we have played better opponents this year. We are getting better every game. This is setting up to be a great week of Mean Green Athletics. Now, Who's next?!!!!!! -
Yes. Just got to Oklahoma city. Stopped to eat in Bricktown...... My favorite was the air that went out if the crowd with every free throw t.p. made. It was awesome!!!

When can we financially get out of SL contract
flyonthewall replied to p_phelps's topic in Mean Green Football
Why does it matter to you guys what Littrell makes. If he were making 750k a year he would still be underperforming right now based on any metrics. The good news on top of the bad performance is we now have an administration that will foot the bill for the best and brightest, rather than being the low cost provider. We can now be the employer of choice on our level, with facilities and coaching salaries. There is a cost to doing business, and we are no longer the poorest at our level.- 32 replies

C-USA Tournament ticket refund
flyonthewall replied to MeanGreen_MBA's topic in Mean Green Basketball
What do you want them to say? I expect something like this.... You have the opportunity to either a. ask for a full refund b. apply the total to future ticket purchases c. apply the total to donations to the mean green scholarship fund (formally known as mean green club)... Go Eagles! reprise......ITS ALL A JOKE...... This all started when UNT90 came to that last home game with Kuehne. I mean publicly profess your going to TCU games and your reward is center court floor at the biggest game in the PIT in like forever???? Side note...No one has seen Kuehne or 90 since......
