  1. ok, fair enough. I guess I am still a little frustrated that because of politics a group of us had to come up with money to completely renovate a building across campus for a dedicated basketball practice facility when right across the street was a perfectly good gym floor that could have been "given" to basketball. I have been told, and I could be wrong on this number, that there are 32 gym courts on campus counting those in the rec. center. I wouldn't have hurt to give the old snake pit back to basketball and the donated money could have gone elsewhere, like building a baseball field. Just one example. And I guess Coach McCarney is Rawlins hire and Benford will be RV's hire....... And its not all about athletics, that's just what I support
  2. Why? I know he was good, but why all this greatness? The stadium was already under construction, the business building was already in the works, emerald eagle program already in place. Besides just being a great guy, what did he do besides steer a ship. I will check back later for the abuse I am about to endure, and please I am saying he did a great job steering, but I have not personally seen evidence of anything besides keeping the ship going in the right direction.
  3. And there was the javelin guy that got a bronze in 72 it think. He also was the gatorade guy when the first gatorade bath happened, and signed MIchael Jordan to the gatorade deal. Bill Shmidt I believe was him name, buy I could be wrong on the name.
  4. He def. will not have a drink with you. Other than that he loves sports and would do anything to help make things better.
  5. At the conference basketball tournament last year in Hot Springs I was sitting next to V. Lane. There were two kids sitting behind us and to our right. They were acting kind of rowdy and making some noise. They both had a beer in their hands. V. Lane looked at me and said this exactly "Alcohol has no place in intercollegiate athletics." I knew right then that until he retired or was replaced, the discussion on beer sales at the game was moot point. Well now we have a new president, and a new person to pitch this to. So we will see what happens with it. Beer sales will help bring in the average Dentonite. I have lived here all of my life and I believe this to be true.
  6. I agree with Andrew. It's not just the questionable calls, they stopped the game twice and killed any momentum that we had. If southern miss is the best team in cusa, then we have a chance. Tj Taylor is the real deal, and he will just keep getting better.
  7. I just talked to doctor. His kneecap was dislocated and he came back and finished. The kid is just awesome
  8. Hah hah hah, I'm not coming down off this Cloud. Apparently Duke didn't get the memo either. Not a good day for aggie
  9. God is shining on the mean green for two days! Fffff all the haters!! I know it is just one game, but aggie just got their arse whipped!
  10. Thanks for the warning.
  11. think how much you could have made if you had bet me......
  12. I actually remember you opening your mouth like a baby bird begging for the crown....................
  13. And And And We have a chance to hang a banner in the new stadium that says "2014 Heart of Dallas Bowl Champions". I will trade that this year for Michigan or Boston College or Syracuse. As we stay competitive we will get better named opponents, but we have to earn that. Future recruits will see that banner "Bowl Champions", they will not remember who we played.
  14. popping in......repeat the question please. I will either say "I don't know" or answer it as honestly as I can.
  15. Jerry (Gerry?) fords group bought plains capital bank. The same guy their stadium is named after, so yeah, one could draw the assumption that smu has their hands all over this bowl. never less relax, we are going bowling.
  16. This one is for unt90. My bar is set so low that anything better than getting crushed by 20 will be an accomplishment.
  17. a breath of fresh air? more like a breath of hot air, and yes it is a pleasure knowing his daughter. As for him, he is the youngest crumudgeon I have ever met, but what the heck, I'll take him.
  18. Not only have I talked my wife into Memphis, we have purchased 4 tickets to the Zach Brown band on the 28th. So #3moreinarow and hope not to dial up stubhub.......
  19. If i can't find a USA Today at the corner gas station in front of IHOP on the corner of AVE E and 35 ON THE SATURDAY MORNING OF GAME DAY.............. Then my second choice for starting the fire on my smoker is the FREEAAKKKING Dallas Morning News!
  20. why wouldnt something be done?
  21. Reactionary coaching. I agree no substitution plan. I agree Players not executing what they practice. I agree I did not see reactionary coaching Monday. I did see a substitution plan. I did see execution. I am very concerned about our point guards reckless play and seeming inability to take care of the ball, with the exception of Alzee, who played very well on both ends of the court. We need to tighten up our turnovers, shoot free throws better, (although 70% at OU was acceptable). It is very important for this team that Gaines and Taylor get healthy, in that order. If we had another effective big in there against OU, it would have helped. It is very hard to win on the road against "better" conference schools. When we cut the lead to four, we were called for fouls immediatly as they entered the front court, and our guys were hammered going back the other way with swallowed whistles. (which gave ou "stops") I have been to many away games and this seems to always happen. It happened to our girls last year at Oklahoma. All of the sudden the lead was back to nine. I really believe that at our place we had a good chance to win that game with the players we had on the floor. Last years team fell way below expectations. This team could exceed expectations.
  22. This is where you are wrong. Pressure from alumni was not why dodge was fired. Dodge was fired because he didn't win enough football games. Thank goodness when Coach McCarney was hired we had a president who didn't mind if the football coach made more than him, which was not the case when Dodge was hired. He came from an institution that hired John Calipari. If Benford gets fired, it will be because he didn't win basketball games. Plain and simple. Your rants basically accuse everyone with any financial wherewithal of being stupid, stubborn and selfish. You have said that the board of regents cares nothing about athletics if I remember correctly. There are three current and former regents that have donated 7 figures to athletics. Your rants contradicts everything we are trying to do. We meaning you, we meaning everyone that is trying to do whatever part they can to make this program successful, wether that means donating money, time or support. Kick and scream all you want, but I am telling you, if it makes you feel better because that is what you are doing whatever. But Benford will not be fired because of your kicking and screaming, he will be fired because of the obvious, he didn't win. I have said it before, I see no reason for this public berating of our institution and the people that are hired to serve it, and indirectly the people that are doing everything in their power to make it better. meaning donors. The basketball players that are reading this forum don't need to see it, recruits don't need to see it, I just don't get it.
  23. I would be shocked if Toolame beats San Antonio of Univerisity of Texas. But.... I was shocked that toolame beat ECU. Ball must have really bounced in their favor just like against us.
  24. I was told that season tickets would be available about an hour ago.
  25. Do the math. 3 million raised for basketball. how much is it stated that the video boards cost? How much to remodel the practice facility. There is a lot of space between those numbers and 3 million.
