What the heck is the context of this anyway. 90 has a reputation of hating anything that this current athletic administration does. Old guy anthony has the reputation that his whole life revolves around the next time he gets to have a craft beer while eating excellent food being cooked outdoors. So by being saying "big donors are being manipulated" why don't you just come out and say "north texas biggest donors are stupid, they have no passion for winning, and they accept mediocrity". Because being stupid, not caring about winning, and accepting mediocrity is exactly how most of us gained the ability and resources to be big donors. Well thank goodness our big donors are dumbasses, because otherwise we would all be drinking beer on a wooden deck looking over a track to watch football, 5 times a year. This is my problem with you, you are saying the whole thing is a failure, and by doing so you insult everyone involved in trying keep this boulder moving forward. Carry on. I feel like when I rebutt unt90 on anything, I am stuck in a late 70's episode of point counterpoint on Saturday night live. He gleans out every negative thing that happens around here and just freakin pounds it, ignoring every good thing that happens around here. This post here says it all. Rick Villarreal continually lies to his fan base to make his job easier. The purpose of this is so that he can develop the reputation around the country of being a complete liar. That way non of his peers in the business can ever trust anything that he says. He also especially likes to tell lies to donors. He lies to them about what there money is going to be used for, this way it makes it easier to tell more lies when he needs more money for other projects. This is why the largest donors at North Texas donated money to build and athletic center, then decided it was a good idea to help with the football stadium, oh and then a family decided to help build a softball complex and put their name on it, and then a group of donors with a prominent dallas lawyer decided we needed a jumbotron in the pit..............All to help a big fat liar. Does anyone think that last year about this time the Texas Christian University Horny toads were happy with the direction of their program? What was their record last year? They damned near if not for some bad luck and some bad defense at the end of the Baylor game walked into the 4 team tournament this year. We should all tap the brakes a little on football.... Basketball.......another story.

I agree with everything you say here. The quarterback play this year, the handling of the best talent we had at the position, all a train wreck. Would have been better off starting mcnulty every game.

This notion that "big donors" do not care about winning, or accept losing is ridiculous. The notion that there is no "plan" in place is ridiculous. Right now the plan is football is Dan McCarney's plan, and he had us playing on new years day a year ago. Its not a high school plan, its not a college plan, its Dan McCarney's plan. Bill Parcels once said two things that really hold true here. #1. You can't just call 1-800-quarterback. and #2. You are what you are. A good football team doesn't go 4-8 against this schedule that we had this year. Fix problem #1, and #2 should fall in place nicely.

No on one and done. There are two basic types of donations here. You can help fund capital projects, ie football stadiums, baseball stadiums basically anything facility related. The second type is an annual contribution to student athlete scholarships, ie mean green club. After our capital contribution to the stadium, we have done both. I still get no better feeling than sitting in the stadium before a game, looking over the back of the visitors side, and seeing the tailgating going on by students up on the hill. (after cooking for six hours myself and feeding roughly 200 people per game) I also never feel worse than after a loss. To answer the question above. North Texas does a lot wrong. We have a flawed system that appoints our ultimate leaders. We have some great regents that care a lot about this place, but some I question their dedication to make the hard decisions. Our development department is out there listing in the wind, waiting for some direction. Our football team won 4 games this year, that is not what expectations are. But this is our place. Your place. It needs to be lifted up. We need more fans. We can't get more fans by only public bashing of everything that goes on here. Excuse me for being positive guy. I will continue to find positives in everything that we do. I will continue to try to get new people involved and to events. And.......the above will be about the most negative thing you will see me say on an internet board, even though there has been some screaming, yelling and dog cussing going on in suite 13 and at my home address. We praise in public, we criticize in private. I know what your answer is to this, and I respect it. Please recount the 16 year thing. I don't think that happens for three more years. Hired April 4th 2001. Please tell me a way right now to replace the high six figure payouts at both of those games? We are trying to roll a boulder here. I quit traveling to those "games" until Texas this year. It is just brutal to take. Went to the Indiana game because I thought it was winnable. Kicked in the crotch again. It is not fun. We are going to schedule a lower tier school because that is what the football coach wants. Next year is an extraordinary event. It could not be helped. I have not heard one person make "excuses". The answer is "it is what it is". I am curious to see how this UAB thing works out. Because that is going to f up a lot of things for not just us going forward.

Everybody likes to lose, I mean the board of regents, they just ignore it. The President, he doesn't care. The culture around here is just so bad people will donate Hundreds of thousands of dollars and not be disappointed at all when we lose.
