I was trying to figure out how i could get a free ride from denton

I blindly follow the athletic director wherever he takes us. Because i cannot come up with an original thought about anything regarding scheduling, coaching hires, or overall administration of the athletic department. case in point, me and 14 other friends have decided to treat Saturday as if it were a 6th home game...... #itsallajoke

Texas A&M Paying UNT $1.25 Million for 2020 Game
flyonthewall replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes, since we have nothing else to talk about, let us worry about how or what bus line we are taking down to college station, are we staying at the Marriott, or the Westin, or motel 6? Who is riding in the Little Guys movers equipment truck? What day does it leave with the uniforms? Because if it leaves one hour too early, then our athletic director sucks. Are we flying Southwest Airlines to our games? American Airlines? These are all questions that make or break the success of our athletic program. I do know one thing, if people weren't paying for it, there would be no "whores". Besides the fact that in most areas, it is against the law, who is to say that it is really wrong? Service provided, money exchanged, bills paid. Talk to Byron Gross one day, you can find him in a week in the parking lot of Apogee. He will tell you they went down there with the intention of kicking UT's ass. He will tell about our safety who's only job that day was to line up Eric Metcalf and knock him into next week. He will tell you that in his mind "We kicked their ass!" "They knew we knocked the hell of of them". The kids line up expecting to win. If this is not true, then how did Portland State beat the Pirate last week at -31? -
The truth is, we are getting a hotel down there in some close promixity to ground zero, there will be a pre tail gate at the hotel bar, then uber or some such down to the stadium. Then after, rather than trying to ferry the whole crew back to denton, we are hoping for a victory party ala post game hod bowl and dining out at some high tone dallas establishment with all of our peasant wear on. You know, the stuff people wear that work for people that went to SMUT. Remember the old slogan, "UNT degrees work", and the counter claim of "UNT, where people went to school that work for people who went to SMU"? Then safely drive back home on Sunday morning with some degree of soberness and euphoria. That is the plan side note: congratulations mark miller on ulys knight spirit award. If anyone deserves it, you do. We were truly honored the year we received it. Also shout out to my wife, who is also included in the same press release.

We tried like heck to figure out a way to move our tailgate operation down there for this game. This would involve 8 10X10 tents, and 5 10X20 tents. We decided it just wasn't worth it, and are encouraging all of our group to participate in the university sponsored tailgate event. Put this in perspective, even if you buy a ticket, and pay the admission to the tailgate party, it is still way cheaper than traveling to any other away game. What would it look like if 500 to maybe even 2000 people in green were gathered in one place making hell of a lot of noise before the game. Then go into the stadium and a HOD type crowd full of green either halves or overwhelms their attendance. It would be a nightmare for them, then they lose the game. It would make up for the 3 major kick in the crotches we got last year. #1, Texas lay down #2 UAB football lay down #3 rice bitch slapping us in conference basketball tourny after we beat them twice in regular season. Show up, be loud and proud, and hope our boys kick their ass on the field!

Remind me of why it's impossible again
flyonthewall replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Football
So you get a dozen or so "big money guys" involved. You sell them a plan. You lay it out. It starts with building an athletics facility, then a practice facility. a dedicated soccer field, a women's softball facility on campus. You name the softball after one of those donors. You build a football stadium, partially on the backs of those donors. Then you have a golden egg laid in front of you in the name of Kuehne. He steps up for seven figures for the football stadium, after it is partially built. Then leads a committee that provides a dedicate practice facility for basketball, and much need upgrades to the super pit. I could go on and on. But it is not all crap with R.V. You guys want wins, every body wants wins. But the facts are, these facilities are going to help in producing wins. Professional coaches help in producing wins. Am I happy with the results from the quarterback position that THIS coaching staff has recruited? NO. Some of you think that some of us drink green Koolaide, only seeing the positives. Well guess what, you would be right. I am very proud of the last ten years and the advancements that have been made in North Texas athletics. I am proud of every cent I have donated and the visible tangible results that it has produced. Providing student athletes scholarships, world class facilities to compete in, practice in, etc. Every day I drive up to that football stadium it takes my breath away. I have said it before, nothing makes me prouder than seeing my fellow alums out there on game day. Looking over the top of the student section on the other side of that field, and seeing future alums out there doing what I did not have the opportunity to do when I was in school. This thing is bigger than me, it is bigger than Rick Villarreal, Dan McCarney, the current board of regents. This is a long term thing that we are trying to set up to enjoy for the 30 or 40 more years that I have to enjoy, that we all have to enjoy on this earth. One guy with all of his rants is not going to deter anyone off of the plan. To be excellent in coaching, competing, facilities, to give every coach the tools he or she needs to be successful, so that he or she can compete for the best recruits. Rant on. We are still going to keep building. -

not retiring. the bank had one made, and of course, Austin B. has built a larger super wok out of a tank head for breakfast tacos, fajitas etc. It is going to be off the chain. Access Bank, Northstar, and First United Bank are in the midst of an arms race for the biggest baddest smoking rig. Rumor has it that Access spent 50 to 60k on the new rig they built.

https://northtexan.unt.edu/content/ask-and-expert-david-anderson Edit, We will have 14 tents this year, new cookers, and a new t.v. I bought a slingbox so I can stream direct t.v. with a hotspot. It works pretty well. We expect between 150 to 200 each game. Who cares who is the best? Just need to keep it rolling.

It's not just UTSA accomplishing the impossible
flyonthewall replied to 10Eagle10's topic in Mean Green Football
t it really doesn't matter how many times he lies to us (better OOC opponents once we get the new stadium, Tulsa is the cause of everything evil with this year's schedule, or one of the many others told in his tenure), we just need to accept it and name something after him when he retires with 20 years of AD service at UNT without doing anything appreciable to advance the status of the athletics programs. you are just a negative ned, aren't you. Hush your mouth and be thankful that my personal friend RV (well, at least I view him that way, even if he doesn't necessarily view me that way) has done what he has done the last 14 years, whatever that may be, because this is UNT and we really shouldn't expect to compete with the likes of Toledo and W. Michigan. Also, Nevermind that he boldfaced lied to you about Tulsa being the reason for 5 home games this year. I mean, he has a tough job and sometimes he just has to blatantly lie to the fan base. I mean, it's what friends do. I get what is going on here, lobbing softballs in an attempt to get a reaction. -

There is no way they missed on this kid. E. K.'s grandson goes to liberty christian and he is very involved over there. Liberty is 11.8 miles from apogee, not 15. -
I really enjoyed that letter on the "opinion" page. I wanted to reach through the screen and say "well let me tell you something". North Texas is the largest employer in Denton by my guess, and the rant about taking away those jobs at Sack And Crap only for the purpose of more profits for the university was a joke. Whatever building we put there is going to employ someone, and my guess would be at the same or possibly a higher wage than was garnered and Sack and Save. Fireworks show was great as usual, and anyone there that didn't know they were in a football stadium where North Texas plays football isn't coming back for a game anyway. My only complaint would be the lack of traffic control out of the stadium, but hey, it was free, and you can't spend a lot of money for manpower when you are giving away the product. We just waited around for about 30 minutes visiting and we we got right out.

It is hard for me to believe that this coaching staff would not put the best possible player out there on September 12th. However, the sting driving down to Austin and watching us just lay an egg in the one year they dipped down just a little bit to give us a ray of hope of beating them is still relatively fresh. I believe as many here do that Andrew McNulty will begin this season as the starting quarterback. If I drive down to Dallas on September 12th, sit in the sun and see the same perfomance, it will be bedlam. I believe we can beat SMU with McNulty. I also believe that the job is his until he loses it, and I don't know if he can do anything to lose it.

Al Hurley set us back 20 years or more in football. He wanted to drop football. Al Hurley = evil academia. This is what the problem is, the dude that was president/ chancellor 6 presidents ago. Let's bring him up and rehash everything he did wrong. Mandy was a broke ass young fundraiser when she was here.

Why would anybody need to say something negative about Benford? What does it accomplish? What would it accomplish if he weren't here? There is an old saying, "praise in public, criticize in private". This is public, and sometimes in public it is just better to say nothing. I learned this the hard way with the Darrel Dickey days.
