More than that at 8-5.

Take out the complaining, realignment, and BS posts and this board would be a graveyard. I guess we just have to decide if we want the status quo or the graveyard, because I don't see X's and O's talk taking over anytime soon.

I was OK with the move as well. Just too many Ranger game watching parties and such. I think Homecoming games should be day games anyway. A bright Fall afternoon just adds to the overall atmosphere. As far as recent attendance numbers are concerned, seems like recent Homecomings were helped out by the Dodge frenzy which didn't really seem to completely fizzle out until '09. Also, I'm guessing that the numbers for DD's last two years were helped by the positive hangover from the N.O. Bowl run. Regardless, I was sure happy that I wasn't greeted by another FAU type crowd. That would've been ugly.

Heckling behind the visitor bench.

Careful now. He's vicious AND brutal. -
People really should work on spelling and grammar issues before submitting authoritative posts related to academic elitism. Somehow, it just doesn't look right when they don't. Sorry, just couldn't resist.

First Year Head Coach Wins Again At Ark St
foutsrouts replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
I guess we really are kinda moronic to put so much blood, sweat, and tears into what a group of 20 year olds do out on the field 12 (or 13) times a year. But strangely enough, I'll likely continue to be moronic until I'm six feet under. -
Osborn has played in three games and has 127 passing yards and two of UNT’s six touchdown passes on the season. “Brent is our No. 3,” McCarney said. “He has been No. 3 all along. He is still practicing and working hard.” Hmmm. Strange that I can find Osborn listed as No. 2 on the depth chart pretty much all along. Certainly up to the recent Tulsa game which I attended. Go figure.

Great, great player, and he really kicked some butt as a TE for us. I suspect that he will find his way into the NFL HOF because he definitely deserves it. A lot of people don't recognize the contributions of a great offensive lineman since they relatively rarely have their names called, but he is truly special. Great career so far Mr.Waters!

Lafayette paper: 100,000 expected for tailgating today
foutsrouts replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Wow! 100k? Maybe I shoulda put this one on my roadtrip list. A little winning can go a long way. We need to take the wind out of their sails beginning first quarter. -
It's Official: Katz reporting plan to add UH and SMU
foutsrouts replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
No bitchin and screaming here if we get some kind of a CUSA/MWC invite. We get better, work our way up, and then we get an invite to the Big 12 down the road. It's where we naturally belong anyway, and probably where we would be today if it were not for the debacle(s) of the late 70's early 80's. Unfortunately, it's just going to take time, but ANY move up now is MUCH better than more stagnation. Let us hope and pray that an invite comes our way. -
Did Wyoming get hosed in favor of San Jose? Otherwise, I like the idea. Looks like the middle class is the first to create their 16 member Superconference plus 1. I hate being in the underclass.

AP Source: Big East to Invite Boise St, 3 Others
foutsrouts replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Assuming Big East stability (LOL), it looks like it's coming down to two teams out of Houston, smu, Temple, and possibly ECU to get them to their magic number of 12. This is getting strange. Geography means virtually nothing anymore. -
Always is a very long time. ONCE we start winning; especially OOC games, others will respect us, and that respect will be forcibly shoved down smu's collective golden throats.

My thoughts exactly. I was thinking that I either inadvertantly logged in to the UTSA board, or that someone really has a woody for them. If we play that SA powerhouse down the road, we play that SA powerhouse down the road. Let us beat Louisiana first.

Is It Time For North Texas To Sell Beer At Apogee?
foutsrouts replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Nickle beer night...yeehaaaaaaa! Seriously, yes. Whatever works to get people to walk in and stay. No re-entry should mean beer sales, because no re-entry is clearly hurting attendance IMO. http://kool.radio.com/2011/08/09/about-one-in-six-college-football-stadiums-will-sell-beer-this-year-twice-as-many-as-a-decade-ago/ -
If that's all that matters, smu lost 82 games between 2001 and 2010, while we lost only 79. Guess that makes them no better than us. Where's that Big East bid possibility for North Texas!

Next Saturday Oct. 22nd - world series
foutsrouts replied to TheColonyEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
We could always move the game to Thanksgiving weekend since we both have open dates. The Cowboys and Horns/Aggs seem to get away with it, but I guess we're just not quite there yet. -

Yes. Time for the retractable roof. -
How about a couple of Top Twenty "D1A" rankings, a few "D1A" Bowls, and some scattered success (yes limited, but at least we played them) against the so called "big schools"? I don't mind at all scheduling those two schools on occasion, but I think that it should be done very gradually rather than jumping into bed with them like they're a couple of hot naked women. We've been doing this for a hundred years or so, while one of them just donned their first pair of shoulder pads, and even though the other has been playing for a long time at a lower level, they're just now beginning to take their first shot at upper level football. Checkered or not, let's not sell ourselves short on our comparative histories. I think we should just go slowly here, see what happens with them, see what happens with us, and go from there. Just my humble opinion.

If we were to be LaLa, we would probably have to pick up and move to Louisiana and start talking funny. But if we are to stay here in Texas, yes FIU would have the tiebreaker over us with head to head, but I guess there is a reasonable possibility that there would be a three way tie or that FIU could lose another one.

MWC - How Important Is it To Get Back Into Texas ?
foutsrouts replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes, get that foot in the door to getting back to the safety of the good ole Southland. Before you know it, Sam, Stephen, Mirabeau and the rest of the old gang will come a calling. -
A JUGS catching machine at an earlier age probably could have done the trick. Best of luck in whatever you do from here on out Mr. Stratford.
-
To tell ya the truth, since the two teams we have beaten are 0-10 against FBS competition, I'm a little surprised that the spread is not higher. This is a HUGE game for us.
