Personally, I haven't decided yet. I guess that'll have to be a post-season decision for me. I just hope that DT stays healthy, because it's looking like we don't have a snowball's chance to avoid 3-9 without him. 6-6 and it will be impossible to argue against his being the right guy. Oops! Probably wrong forum for this discussion. I do have a nice Mohair blanket though.

Interview with Williams and Edwards
foutsrouts replied to chrisfisher's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I was under the impression that Tony was scheduled to have a couple of SWAC games (Jackson/Grambling) to work his way into being a full-fledged MeanGreener before the LSU game. Hope that is correct. -
Finished the biography for ya.

Interview with Williams and Edwards
foutsrouts replied to chrisfisher's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Very nice. I'm particularly impressed with the attitude of Freshman Williams in that I really think he wants to get this program going big-time. Positive attitudes from these talented players can only lead to many, many, W's down the road. GO GREEN! -
Last I heard S. Mississippi's stadium only holds 36K. I saw it in mid-2005 and wasn't overly impressed, but I hear that it has been prettied up with suites and such since then.

Absolutely. At the very least it would get us away from the perception of being entry level, and with success on the field, it could possibly set us up for membership in our dream conference sometime down the road when things shake up again. That dream conference for me, would be some kind of a mix of regional and current Big 12 teams members. Nice first post btw.

Yep, and all of those foolish dingbats who questioned TD when he brought in all of his high school coaching buddies to run a D1A program his first year should be shot. No one should ever question authority, because they are the authority, and nothing can be done about it. The right thing to do is to quietly sit back and passively let the "smart people" run the show, because they are smarter and more ethical than the rest of us and never make mistakes. This is the philosophy which made our country great.

Or, is Osborn the next Seneca Wallace?
foutsrouts replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Football
Whatcha you talkin about. Riley is 6'1" 195. The McNeese roster says so, and that's gotta be fact! http://espn.go.com/college-football/team/roster/_/id/2377/mcneese-state-cowboys -
He wouldn't have had a prayer at beating out McNulty, so what's the difference.
-
Pretty clear that he has absolutely doghoused Osborn for whatever reason, so I think it's time to chant for Baine at the next home game. Baine actually did a pretty damned good job down the stretch last year, and I would very much prefer that the veteran get a chance to expand on his previous success. Is McNulty faster, tougher, more experienced, a better field general, or have a better arm than Baine? Me thinks not. Oh that's right, this year doesn't matter. We're rebuilding.

Unless Number 3 is physically or mentally deficient in some way, our Rivals 3 Star QB should at least see mopup duty. We certainly need this "special person" to get some reps in case our Number 2 future HOF'er gets injured, because it's pretty clear that our talented Number 1 is a bit injury prone. Since the chosen Number 2 has been chosen without ANY chance of reconsideration, I guess all we can do now is pray for the health of Number 1.

Personally, I think we should be having a QB controversy between DT and Osborn, while McNulty sits in the background and gets occasional mopup duty in games like last Saturday's. That's what we had last Spring, with the exception that McNulty wasn't even around to watch since he had proms and such to attend. But of course that will not be allowed to happen for reasons only known to Dan. -
Yes, it pissed me off driving all the way to Tulsa only to see us basically pack it in after the first quarter. Tulsa ain't bad, but that was no body bag game. Accepting defeat early in a game is not an attitude that I'm particularly fond of.

For those who haven't seen him play, I thought I would post a shortcut to his videos and such. Starting to look like the only way you'll get to see him on the field. Didn't recall that he was First Team 5A All State in Alabama as a Senior, even though he played in a run oriented offense. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2SUTOSRuPY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qn67TJQT2fo http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Brent-Osborn-116263

I don't really think the problem is his putting in one QB over another. I think it's more like why doesn't the other QB get a chance to show what he's got in a game that was clearly a blowout by the 4th quarter? I'm not really a "star" guy, but "the other QB" was a 3 star QB who happens to have a very successfull JC year in Mississippi under his belt, and was a close number two behind DT back in the Spring. What does McNulty have besides what he has shown thus far? Good practice skills I guess. But as you say, we just don't know. Btw, we all know that the QB is CLEARLY the most important position on the field these days, so I really don't see any problem with posters questioning what is going on with that position. I'm very happy that we hired McCarney to lead us out of the wilderness, but the guy is not God or even Moses. If our last "God" taught us anything, it should be that anyone that we hire is only human.
-
At least as long as I've been around football, what you say pretty much always seems to occur in those situations. I respect McCarney's abilities as a coach, so I'm guessing that Osborn is not getting a chance for one of two reasons. Either there is some kind of a personal off the field issue here, or, well, you can probably guess the other one. All speculation of course, so don't hold me to it if turns out to be some kind of a medical issue, or if it's later revealed that a boy named Brent once took his lunch money.
-
God forbid McNulty getting hurt, because DT is clearly going to be walking wounded for awhile, and we don't seem to feel any urgency at giving our third teamer any PT. Come to think of it, I guess we really won't know who our third teamer actually is until the opportunity presents itself.

That someone has a new best friend?
-
That sux. The guy really has a nose for the football. Hope it's not too serious.
-
He will probably pull a Riley and have two years left at a Georgia Southern or somewhere. Kind of a shame to throw the guy away without giving him a chance to really show what he can do. Especially considering that just last Spring he looked to me to have a 40+ per cent chance of being our starting QB this season. Not at least seeing him at garbage time last night was just plain strange.
-
Geez...this is a message board and people ought to be able to express their opinions w/o being called idiots. Personally, I don't think blind faith has any business in the coaching business, and that coaches, and any other leader for that matter, should be questioned when they make decisions that appear to many to be questionable. On a positive note, I do think that McNulty looked improved last night. Especially when you consider that he probably has less overall experience at the position than any college QB in America.

Why no couches and bottles? -
Great to hear. Sounds like the kind of player we need for defense, rebounding, and shot blocking to help take us deep into the tourney against the big boys. A budding Hakeem Junior? Sounds like he has some of the traits Olajuwon had when he first got off the plane in Houston. Guess it doesn't hurt to dream of another Dream.

Got room for yet another OU quitter?
foutsrouts replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Football
Says he saw special teams action in 11 games in 2010. I'm guessing he would only have two years left after sitting out. Can he catch the ball? If not, maybe he would be up for the idea of converting to a DE. Looks like he played some pretty good D in high school. Go for it!. -
Me likes. I realize that some people have to chase around kids on Saturday afternoons, but I would guess that the majority of potential attendees are students/other adults who have events and such that they would like to attend before 9:00 -10:00 or later on a Saturday night. I would also venture to guess that a lot of students have to work on Saturday nights in the restaurant/entertainment industry, so an even earlier start might be better for them. It's definitely a balancing act, but way too many people seem to be leaving 6:00 games way too early.
