Oh well, we didn't make it easy for them. I'm encouraged by everything other than our shooting percentage tonight, but that will come around in time. Glad to see Alzee and Franklin take big steps forward. Jordan Williams showed some great flashes as well.

Nice hustle. I think we've got a chance to take it to the wire.

Yes, way too much jacking 'em up. He doesn't even wait for his teammates half the time , which is as good as a turnover.

I have a bunch of out of town relatives in town this weekend, so if anyone has a couple of extras I bet I could put them to good use.
-
We've beat 'em down there before and we can do it again. At least we're not being outsized this game since they aren't really big at all, and a bunch of our guys have played in that building before in high school championship games. We need a big wakeup game defensively from Hogans or at least one of our big guys. Go Green!

From what you'll are saying, I hope he's Darrell Green and "The Smurfs" all rolled into one.

Yeah, that really bummed me when we lost Patton. My main concern this year was who's going to be putting the ball in the hole with regularity, and I had kind of penciled Patton in as the go to guy. At least until mid-December, and now it's starting to look like we're REALLY going to be asking a lot this year from Mr.' Mid-December.

Just looked at the stats, and didn't see the game, but UTA had FIFTY-FOUR points in the paint? If they had killed us on offensive rebounds or had a ton of fast break points it might tell the story, but it sounds more like they were just attacking the bucket at will. Any comments on that from someone who saw the game? All I can say is that I hope we see more of Niko. I saw the first three "games", and he looks to be pretty polished all-around compared to some of our other big guys. He may not be advertised as a great defender, but at least he has good size and seems to move well.

If No CUSA/MWC We Take The Hit & Start A New Conference
foutsrouts replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
TSU would never leave the SWAC, but not a bad idea though. Would be nice if Rice and Tulane decided they were tired of the CUSA travel (and losing) and hooked up with the new conference. At least we would have an old SWC member that way. UTEP's another nice thought, but I doubt it. -
Last I checked, Holmen listed at 6'8", Zo listed at 6'7", Hogans listed at 6'7", and I think that's stretching it a bit unless at least 2 of those 3 have suddenly grown. That's pretty short when you consider that only Hogans is a proven commodity down low, and he has not exactly been devoid of injuries through his carreer. If they can somehow stay healthy and improve throughout the season, I think they're big and tough enough to get the job done. Especially with the addition of TM.

UNT BB Top 30 Recruiting Class?
foutsrouts replied to bleedgreen4ever's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Yes, playing against 14-18 year olds can be quite different than playing against 18-23 year olds. Sometimes it just takes time. That is especially true when you're talking about so much youth and so few proven veterans on the same team. -
We have some tough guys in the paint, but our veteran big guys are pretty much on the short side, and aren't really what I would call great offensive players. Most of our young size seems to want to play the 2-Guard. At least for the moment.
-
When did UTA take up football? Damn, glad I couldn't make this one even though I'm in Tarrant County. Not that they're doing much better, but sounds like we need to go with the few veterans we have for awhile. Young guns just don't got it yet.

I'm a victim of stadium discrimination.

CSU Coach on Mountain West Recruiting in Texas
foutsrouts replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Hello Coach Fairchild! If you've forgotten who we are, we did once face off in a Bowl game! Don't know why we don't have them scheduled instead of a K. State or an LSU. They've been down for awhile now, wouldn't likely complain about a home & home, and they've got a name people around here have heard of. Ft. Collins isn't that bad of a drive either. -
Good post. The stadium is where it is, and although getting to and from may not be as easy as Fouts was for some, it's still nothing that cannot be overcome. Hopefully solutions will evolve over time that simplify things.

The stupidity here is that this thread has lasted so long. You really need to take your complaints and frustrations to RV. I'm sure that with your ingenuity added to the mix, the two of you could sit down and fix this situation in a heartbeat. Where have you been hiding all these years?

9/1 @ LSU 9/8 VS. Texas Southern 9/15 @ Kansas State 10/5 @ Houston N/A @ ULM N/A vs. Troy N/A @ WKU N/A vs. FIU N/A @ MTSU N/A vs. ASU N/A @ FAU N/A vs. ULL Three weeks between K. State and Houston games, and the TSU game is the only game at Apogee until late Oct. against Troy? Hope that's not right.
-
I suspect that it does to a certain extent, because we do have plenty of fat, lazy, cheap, aged, and child dragging people in this world (no offense intended), who think of Apogee as more of a challenge to deal with than Fouts. There's nothing we can do about it other than the pedestrian bridge and whatever else we can think of to ease the burden, so I guess that's just the way it is. Of course we could always just move back to Fouts.

I'm OK with most any AQ team but the top 2/3's of the SEC and OU. As long as they're a school that will at least give us a 2 for 1. LSU, Bama, and OU in particular get old. Texas is OK every once in awhile, because I'm hoping we can catch them when we're up and they're down. Time to rally the troops Dan, because we got them not too far down the road.

My ex-boss used to date Jocelyn, and he doesn't hesitate to pull out some pretty nice revealing pictures to prove it. She didn't look too bad last time I saw her. I had forgotten about that old Bowling for Dollars thing. Verne looks a little different these day.

Hmmm...sounds like we may have borrowed the Ponycounter while they were out of town for the weekend. Maybe it was just because the crowd was quieter than usual, but it sure didn't seem like 17K to me. We've got to do something about filling that conspicuous Wing, because if it's going to sit there empty every game, I would rather that it just fly away. Hope a LEGIT promotion for the finale gets announced on Monday.

Mean Green 62 Pillpoppers 3 We're due one of those.
-
Wow. Sounds like a couple of people around here need to get a room to figure things out. As far as the game was concerned, I thought we were the best team overall, but it is just going to take a few games to get it together. We'll get there soon enough, and I'm not just talking about one month from now.

You're The NT Promotion's Person: What Would U Do:
foutsrouts replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
A massive air drop of propaganda materials on the campus at high noon every day this week, followed by a ground assault featuring all gomeangreen.com members. That ought to grab a little attention.
