  1. It does sometimes seem as if we plan it that way. I mean, can't we get somewhere close to the same paycheck at Arizona State as we get at LSU? I don't mind playing Texas because they definitely have their off years and I want to finally knock the MoFo's off, but playing LSU or Bama more than once every couple of decades makes little sense to me.
  2. If we mostly steer clear of the SEC (exc. Vandy, the Mississippi's, and A&M) and OU I'm OK with most big money games. It's just too hard to catch teams like Alabama, LSU, Florida, and OU in a down year. I wouldn't mind us scheduling a couple of PAC 12 games, since most of those teams are down as much as they are up.
  3. They might not end up with any better options. Maybe I'll go have a four martini lunch and rethink the situation.
  4. Somehow I don't think he likes us. Hope we pummel 'em annually. I do have to admit that I'm not real fond of the addition of the football newbies to the conference myself. It undoubtably lowers the perception of the conference in many people's minds.
  5. I would say that I had no idea Mississippi allowed gay marriage, but I think that would be inappropriate for this forum. Comparable to a high school or Delta State's stadium? Ridiculous! Either that guy is simply talking smack to the new kids on the block, or he and his partner have some serious problems. I thought at the beginning he was talking Fouts, and maybe he was at first but didn't want to admit his error after seeing pictures of Apogee.
  6. That's just gotta hurt.
  7. If he has got the skills to excel at this level, I'm not worried about his size at all as long as he's legitimately around six feet. Of course those speed numbers could be an issue if the higher number is close to being accurate.,
  8. With that size and speed, his potential at DE is also intriguing. Which ever one the guy wants to play is OK by me.
  9. Football: University of SM = ALL LIES!!! Hell, that didn't even require a tee!
  10. I like getting local area guys with potential. We've been lacking in that area a bit in recent years.
  11. Adding a fake degree to your resume is much different than simply embellishing your resume. A pretty hefty percentage of people have used resume verbage in regard to past positions that make them sound as if they had higher level responsibilities and such, but adding a non-existent degree to your resume is more than a little over the top. Not the smartest thing to do either, because it's very easy to get caught these days. I wish the guy the best, but I think we dodged a major bullet here. Not only could his hiring have resulted in some big-time negative press, but we could very well have had some pretty serious problems in the player personnel area. It could have been embarassing for a bunch of people if we had to start this new coaching staff thing all over again.
  12. Great QB, and I wish him the best. Happy to hear things are looking good.
  13. I guess it's possible that we discovered it during the head coach vetting process and neglected to bring it up. Who knows. Certainly not me.
  14. Nice track numbers. Could turn out to be special. http://phs.parisisd.net/page/18089_2
  15. Pretty impressive numbers. Depending on the circumstances of the "alleged crime," he's certainly worthy of a hard look. I like the powerlifter/sprinter combination. Having a brother in the area could help our chances. Interesting that he would be a 22 year old Soph. when he would become eligible in Sept. '13.
  16. I know that obtaining official transcripts requires a little more hoop jumping, but I've been under the impression that confirming actual degrees is pretty much a slam dunk these days most everywhere. Hope things work out well for him.
  17. "1. Doug McDermott - Creighton Like the No. 1 guard (Isaiah Canaan), McDermott really needs no introduction. He's not simply one of the best at the mid-major level, he's one of the best in all of college basketball. " I can't stand the "Mid-Major" tag. It is clearly an effort by the "monied BCS football schools" to provide separation between themselves and the "non-monied BCS football (or non-football) schools" in the sport of basketball. The national media sux for promoting this. At the very least, basketball should be more like baseball where all top division schools are pretty much considered equal.Btw, nice pub for TM regardless.
  18. Other than Rice, all schools in the old SWC were reasonably easy to get into in those days. I know a guy who got into Baylor with an SAT well under 800 back in the early 80's. The guy was probably quite a bit smarter than his test scores reflected, but 8:00 Saturday morning was generally not the best time of the week for this particular guy to be showing off his academic prowess.
  19. It would be interesting to see that comparison by 2 Deep.
  20. Nice post Evan. That letter illustrates how keeping history alive is one way to show the uninformed that we are much more than just a former 1AA team trying to move up to big boy football.
  21. You're right. It really was the perfect storm, and that storm was pointed right at Denton.
