  1. Hey! I deserve a serious break on that! I said "top to bottom", and most great college teams over the years have had more than a couple of spares on the bench, and that includes last year's UK team. Please don't speculate on our alleged "spares" btw, because there ain't many on this team. Some young guys who have yet to prove themselves, but not a lot of spares. Just messing with you, but this team is seriously loaded with some very successful former high school players. We'll just have to wait and see how this transfers to 2012/13 and beyond.
  2. WOW! Don't know how I missed this until now. This really helps to close a potential hole in our overall game. This may be the most stacked college team from top to bottom that I've seen in a long time. If ever. Coach is going to have some tough decisions to make, but somehow I think that is a problem that he doesn't mind having one bit.
  3. I wouldn't TOTALLY rule it out, but he clearly needs more work based on what we saw last season. Both he and JW have potential NBA bodies, but I suspect they are both going to need a couple of years or more to develop several different aspects of their games. Now if we go something like Final Four and one of these guys somehow totally lights it up throughout the tourney then I guess you never know.
  4. Hate to break it to ya, but unless the rules have recently changed, the 5 year (unless you go to OU or TU) time clock begins once you initially enroll in college whether you play or not. Hope the rules have changed and I somehow missed it. We might could use you at DB if you can get that 20 yard dash time down a touch.
  5. Explain to me how you managed the eligibility deal and maybe I'll join you.
  6. Hmmm, could/would Mac squeeze out a one year FB scholly for him and let him walk on the BB team? Any golf schollies available? Just fantasizing here.
  7. A starting lineup rosterbation would also be of interest if he does in fact come here. I can't even venture a guess as loaded as we would be.
  8. Nice to see TM picked over McAdoo btw.
  9. I guess it has something to do with the fact that there are three Plumlee brothers who play for Duke. Still don't quite get the reference though.
  10. Yep, glad he's back, but I was hoping that he might slide into the OLB 2-Deep with Will Wright moving back to Safety if need be. We've just got to avoid that injury bug this year.
  11. I hope he comes back. I (and my BB coach brother) drove a bunch of miles to see him play in HS, and I really like the guy's potential. He's a very good athlete, and I hope things work out well for him regardless. Big guys don't grow on trees.
  12. So what was the deal with Robinson?
  13. I like the quote, but there should have been a "yet" in there somewhere. Thanks for the update.
  14. "Benson quickly shored up the Sun Belt adding South Alabama this season as well as Georgia State and Texas State beginning in '13." Somehow I think that the entrance of S. Alabama was already planned, so I really don't think that the genius of Karl Benson should be given all the credit.
  15. Top flight FB players are great, but they tend to be much more hit and miss than top flight BB players. We're very fortunate, because I have little doubt that he's going to be the biggest impact player in any sport to pass through the MG Nation thus far. Hell, he may already be after only 2/3rd's of a season. No offense meant by that to Mean Joe, Abner, and a couple of other guys, but in this information age hype and publicity tend to fly to the four corners of the Earth.
  16. If the "skill position" guys come through on offense, I think this team has the potential to score a whole lot of points. Defensively we have just got to avoid injuries in a big way, as well as have a couple of nice surprises at the DB positions. I'm cautiously optimistic.
  17. Blame the old dudes. I'm guessing that it will go away in time, but the fact is that most of our "national success" occurred when we were known as NTSU. Excepting the fairly recent N.O. Bowl run of course. I suspect that this will finally start to go away for good after this upcoming athletic year.
  18. You're just an idiot. No person on this board is going to take the time to actually read your posts anymore so just go away. Truly pathetic. Quit clogging the board with nothingness.
  19. The drug problem is worse than I thought.
  20. ???? I think you are confused as usual. YOU are obviously scared to death of US! If you weren't, you wouldn't feel the need to hang out on our board and bash us on a regular basis. Why don't you just go back to your lying cheating home of the death penalty and leave us alone. Your spanking will come soon enough.
  21. If several of these new OL guys are redshirted, our current Sophomores to be will be Seniors by the time these 2013 guys hit the field as RS Freshmen. I like the idea. Kind of reminds me of the old days at Nebraska, when their 5th year Senior hogs in the trenches were tossing their defensive opponents all over the field year after year. Mac's originally from that part of the world and maybe that's how he's thinking here.
  22. Give that guy a RS and a weightroom and he could very well turn out to be a real monster for us. Looks to have a good motor on him, and he certainly looks impressive on the field as a Junior. Mac & Co. sure are stacking the OL for the future.
  23. The 2012 team has yet to prove itself so I'm not going to answer the question in regard to what team is/was the best definitively, but I have a hard time believing that this is not the best team ON PAPER to ever suit up at North Texas. OVERALL, athletes are physically bigger, stronger, and more polished these days, and I just couldn't see that '88 team or even the Lyons led teams competing with these guys. These thoughts are a complete generalization, because I know that there were many athletes from yesteryear who could not only compete in today's game, but could tear it up with the training and nutritional advantages that many players get these days. About the only advantage I see for the players back in the day, is that they were damn tough dudes overall. BTW, I go back to the late Blakeley teams, and my first NT BB game to witness was Depaul
  24. We're just a hair away from being in the middle third, so I wouldn't say that our SOS is really on the weak side. That's especially true when you consider that the strength of your conference mates is by far the most important factor in that calculation.
