Top Cusa candidates for AAC 2016 Expansion
foutsrouts replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
You could get banned from the board for a thought like that. RV costs too much to rent anyway. -
MGB news and notes: UTSA to host camp at DeSoto
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Not surprising that he crowned San Antonio as our biggest rival in CUSA, since he just happens to be a graduate from that place. I don't see them as being any more of a rival than LT, UTEP, or Rice. Maybe that's because I've known a lot of grads. from those 3 schools, but very few from UT-San Antonio. -
List: Nicknames More Clever than Hattiesburg Hustler
foutsrouts replied to Censored by Laurie's topic in Mean Green Football
Funny stuff. We really are a bunch of bad bad boys around here in the off season. If Littrell runs through this board, he's certainly got a better idea of what he's gotten himself into now. Seth, find a way to bring us back from death, and Tony, please be a coach instead of a phony! Sorry, couldn't resist one last lame rhyme. -

Being behind 24-14 in the third quarter before they blocked the punt for a TD is being competitive IMO. At least at North Texas. -

We had a pretty nice offense, and we were at least competitive against them, but they were clearly superior in the trenches. Same thing against Hattiesburg. -
Poll: North Texas fan opinions on move to C-USA?
foutsrouts replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Some truth to that. Some of our better conference mates seem to leave when we're in the neighborhood, and there's really no logical reason for that. It's really all about winning for us, and I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO tired of saying that. -

It would be just plain mean if I said The Bad Hire Liar, or The Fattie From Hattie, so I'm just not gonna go there.- 67 replies

MGB: Marshall invited to Seahawks rookie camp on tryout basis
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Too much kicking us when we're down. -
I'm done with having to visualize that lunacy, so only a small comment from me. Pedo State should have gotten at least double the smu death penalty.

There's infighting at Oklahoma over potential Big 12 expansion
foutsrouts replied to Greenrex's topic in Mean Green Football
Which is why we should beg and pray to get into the MWC. Of course all the praying in the world won't help unless we suddenly start winning. -
Roundtable: North Texas athletics 2015-2016 year in review
foutsrouts replied to Skipper's topic in Mean Green Football
"The way Dan McCarney handled his abrupt firing was the classiest moment I’ve ever been a part of in my short sports career. How many people in this world would, after abruptly receiving the pink slip 10 minutes after your most humiliating moment on the job, willingly walk out to a pool of reporters and colleagues and talk about it in the heat of the moment?" I'll gladly speak in front of a gang of pedophiles and cannibals for a couple of minutes if someone will drop a couple of million on me -
Very true. DD had the luxury of competing in what was basically a 1AA conference, but he certainly made the best of it in the early 2000's. Our dropoff in local recruit star status is very sad, and what makes it even more sad is that kids are so much more informed these days before signing that LOI. We've clearly got a reputation problem.

There's infighting at Oklahoma over potential Big 12 expansion
foutsrouts replied to Greenrex's topic in Mean Green Football
"Weitzenhoffer explained why the Big 12 stands to gain little in expanding to schools most commonly mentioned -- Boise State, BYU, UCF, Cincinnati,Connecticut, Houston, Memphis and South Florida, among others." With the exception of BYU, it's sad that we've been ahead of or on equal footing with all of those schools throughout most of our history. Especially since some of them didn't even have top level football programs (or any football program) while we did, and we just happen to reside in the heart of Big 12 country. Just to beat UNT90 to the punch, thanks RV. -

Cincy is known for good academics, while Memphis is not. What does Memphis have to offer other than past basketball history, Beale Street, and Darrell Dickey? Personally, I think UT will head west at the first opportunity. Easier for them to win out there. -
Updated Football Power Index (Pre-Season Rankings)
foutsrouts replied to Ben Gooding's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, disagreement is a part of life. I can easily see us at 2-0 when Butt Cookman gets on the bus headed out of town. After that it might not be so pretty, but 3-1 coming home to face Middle is not out of the question for me. We shall see, but I do admit to just having a green margarita with my luncheon fajitas. -

Cincy maybe, but Memphis would make them run for the hills. -

I just don't believe that we're going to be that bad. We didn't lose a lot, and we're bringing in a bunch of new stuff both in personnel and philosophy. The fact is that no one flipping knows, and if our defense somehow shows up, we may not be so bad at all.. -

Yes, we have fans, but sadly 90% of them are bandwagon fans. We saw that in the HOD Bowl. It's all up to Littrell & Co. at this point. -
MGB: Marshall invited to Seahawks rookie camp on tryout basis
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Very true. It's almost as if he's trying to convince 16-18 year olds who might be perusing our board that they have no chance at the next level if they come to North Texas. UTSA agenda? -
I don't get the crawling back part, since you were pretty much inked in as a starter, but best of luck to you in your new environment regardless. Hopefully you opened up a slot for a couple of other guys who will end up excelling at the position. Hope that you do end up coming back and supporting the Mean Green in a big way as an alumnus.

BOL to him. He's got the speed and size that they're looking for so it's up to him. The truth is the truth, but has Vito ever ended an article without an NT negative? "It’s an opportunity only a few UNT players have received through the years." Please define "few" and "through the years" next time. -
It wouldn't take much more than one individual to exceed the number of season tickets purchased to see the FU's, so I'd have to disagree with that. I think we would draw much better in the MWC even if you're comparing the draw of say AF, Boise, CSU, NM, and SDSU, to the draw of our only significant CUSA "attractions" in UTSA, UTEP, LT, Middle, and Rice. I guess the "UT's" have potential, but I haven't been impressed with their attendance draw thus far. It would be nice for once to be in a conference with some schools that are considered the top universities in their respective states. Granted they're smaller states for the most part, but most MWC members are still top dogs in their territories. It's all a moot old argument anyway, since I suspect we're a long way from even approaching their radar.

Only blind people who have to be in bed when the street lights come on would oppose the MWC.

MGB: UNT to receive $1.3 million for game at Missouri in 2021
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Apparently teams like Kansas State, Baylor, TCU, and TT preferred Fouts over Apogee.
