  1. I think I predicted 8, so I'm feeling pretty good.
  2. Your xenophobia will end up biting you in the butt one of these days SS. When you grow up a bit, I hope you wake up some day and realize that staying as far away as possible from the people in the "big city" that frighten you so much is a bit on the paranoid side. Enjoy your life in seclusion until then. Good luck with all of that.
  3. Naw, I think she's just really heavy on the obnoxious and very light on the facts. She'll likely say it's a bit after spending a few hours on Google, but the knowledge and experience factor just isn't there yet. Maybe she'll figure a few things out after we visit Rice next year.
  4. Stop making stuff up. I never even implied that Houston was an awesome place to live, and I've lived there a lot more than you have, LATELY. Pathetic. Bye bye. Finally.
  5. LOL!! You're funny! Yes, River Oaks has emptied out and property values have gone to absolute Hell there. That is truly hilarious. Katy? HA HA! Enough with you. I can see that you're the type who will argue with facts until Hell freezes over, if the facts are contrary to your deeply ingrained opinions. Bye bye.
  6. You must be confusing Houston with Chicago or somewhere, because there are no projects anywhere near Rice. My best old high school buddy is married to an MD Anderson doctor, and we spent the weekend with them at their house only a few hundred yards from Rice stadium just a couple of weeks ago. No gunfire too be heard anywhere. Btw, I spend about 25-30% of my life in the Houston area these days (including The Woodlands/Conroe), so I'm not speaking from inexperience.
  7. Yes, Rice is much more of a national school which caters to high achievers. Kind of like the Harvard of the South/Southwest. SMU is more of a rich kid's school where academics may matter, but it doesn't compare to Rice. I would think Tulane falls somewhere in between.
  8. What? Are you sure you've ever been to Houston? I was born and raised in Houston, and Rice sits in West U., which is a high dollar area almost akin to River Oaks, which btw sits around 4 or 5 miles directly to the north. U of H is the one that sits IN the ghetto/barrio or whatever you want to term it. West University may be only a half dozen miles from a major downtown area (as is Highland Park), but it is far from low dollar.
  9. I've heard that they do have a satellite campus in Spain known as Spanish Rice.
  10. A rich guy or two and a big old stadium.
  11. More like we'll hit 'em so hard that we'll come back with a new athletic supporter.
  12. GreenandMean 48 SouthMissState 14
  13. Let's beat up big-time on South Mississippi State. Brett Farve ain't out there anymore last time I checked.
  14. Just make sure USM gets the memo.
  15. Apparently so, since neither were exactly life-long fitness freaks. When I was a kid, my cousin was an assistant under Bum, and I went to a cookout at my cousins house in Sugar Land which Bum and Adams both attended. One of the things that impressed me most was the quantity of food on Bum's plate. RIP.
  16. Yes, we're old school and I'm okay with that. I have no lust for "exciting" Dodgeball. Been there done that.
  17. Beat USM and then Rice on Halloween to go 6-3, and I'll be upset if we don't get front page coverage on Friday the 1st. Of course if we are competing with game 7 of the World Series the night of the Rice game, attendance and coverage could get ugly.
  18. Yes, people have jumped on him for every mistake, when in reality, all college (or otherwise) QB's make mistakes. We've got a top 50 QB, and I'm actually almost insulting him by saying that. That being said, I really want to see the other guys get a chance if the scoreboard gives the opportunity.
  19. It's all good, and shaping up even better. Can't wait for the Rice game.
  20. Yes, it's funny how rapidly some people's opinions change. I see it as a wait and see thing for the time being.
  21. Actually, for those who read the old fashioned newspaper, it has been surprisingly good this year. Big fonts, and better than the Frog's coverage this Sunday. At least in my edition. The front page coverage the other day was nice too. I always want more, but I'm basically OK with it at this point.
  22. We don't want to underestimate them. I haven't seen them play this year (or last), but they've traditionally been very tough at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball ever since the Brett Favre era. On the flip side, I hope we can take it to them early so that we could possibly see some serious backup time before we hit the big stretch run of the season. I have my doubts with conservative Mac running the show, but I'd love a big lead early, with the second half seeing some young guys on our side getting some serious PT. Especially on offense including the QB's.
  23. Zach and Brelan should both be All-Americans at some level. If we win enough games while they continue their level of play, I think they will be.
  24. We need 3 more for a definite bowl. I'm thinking we beat that number.
