UNLV two deep - Team Preview and thoughts...
foutsrouts replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I see a conservative ball control/clock management game from us against these guys. And no, I didn't just make that strategy up. -
If I call 911, any chance of getting into negotiations on those free city employee bowl tickets? I need a couple of more for out of town guests. TIA.

Small church schools seem to be Benford's specialty, so maybe we have an outside shot at this.

I thought BB went FBS/FBS/JC/NT in an accelerated manner. God forbid, because I still have hope for the guy here, but are you saying that a move to Northern Colorado or somewhere for two years is out of the question? Two years here, or two years FCS is the way I've been reading it. If there is only a one year FCS possibility, I would think that his chances of staying here are a bit higher. -
Yeah, Northwood and The Word Incarnate are universally known as being tough on the boards. I guess we'll have to wait and see what Wayland and Central do to us.

I'm glad I forgot that we had a game yesterday. I'm sure that I'll forget about the next one too.

I played that old country club a few times years ago on Loop 12 just east of 45. Place always flooded. -

Hard to pin it down, but "so long McNeese State" was a good one. Baylor was great too, since I have a bunch of Baylor relatives. -
Insanity. But then again pro athletes have salaries that are even more insane. I know they can't use Permanent Fund proceeds "directly" for this, but when is someone going to challenge the constitutionality of their receiving 2/3rd's of the fund? Seems like the Aggies would challenge at some point since they only receive half as much as Texas.

I wasn't even aware that the season had already begun. Are we in Northwood's conference now?

"The University of North Texas is located in Denton, near the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex between Oklahoma and Texas on Interstate 35." Wow, I never even noticed that our campus is located under the I-35 Red River bridge.

I agree. A slower plodding team from the Big 10 may very well had been a better matchup for us. So how are we gonna feel if UNLV kicks our butts? A lot worse than a Michigan I suspect, and UNLV has the quick strike offense to make a run at that. I also don't believe that baby steps are mandatory in moving up in the football pecking order of the world.

Anyone notice all the votes that Rice got in the polls this week? That could have been us, for those who thought we wouldn't get any votes even at 10-3. With a BIG victory over MS State along with the right teams losing, they've got an outside shot at a Top 25 ranking. Interesting to see that both Mac and Sumlin voted Rice in the Top 25.

I have no problem with the opponent, but I do hate the idea of our guys playing in front of 25k instead of the 45k that a couple of our potential Big 10 opponents might have drawn. It is what it is and all we can do is our best to get the crowd out. I just hope the weather cooperates, because my last two Cotton Bowl bowl experiences were freakin' colder than this weekends weather.

If no one ever complained and there was no one here but cheerleaders, this board would be so boring that even the cheerleaders would stop posting and go away. Without something to argue about you've got nothing but our old friend Mister Apathy.

It's certainly the most irritating.

So is the HOD game basically becoming CUSA's new Liberty Bowl game beginning next year?

UNT in a New Year's Day Bowl game, really!

Good thoughts. I have no idea how many employees are at NT these days, but it would be great if they were STRONGLY encouraged to attend the game. That goes for all our home games next year as well. Tapping every source for putting butts in the seats would be a very good thing. -
Tailgating at the Cotton Bowl @ Fair Park

Here are the different locations and such. http://www.dart.org/maps/locationslist.asp As far as safety is concerned, they rolled one up in The Bronx the other day, so ya never know. -
I think I see more whining from people accusing people of whining, than I see whining from people complaining about our bowl opponent. I see nothing wrong with a one day wish for a bigger name opponent, as a bigger name opponent would had likely given us a higher probability to make a big splash with a victory on New Year's Day. No big deal, and I suspect that the "whining" about our opponent will be gone by tomorrow. Everyone will no doubt move on to the task of dealing with UNLV sooner rather than later.

I'll be giving a few to marginal fans as Christmas presents whether they like it or not. And they better show or else!

I'm about to head out for the 2nd half. Only because my parents are without power not too far away, and I need to help them get a car out of the garage. Besides, Central Florida needs some boo birds on their side being so far from home and all. I'll be wearing my green.
