I'm in with the player coach thing. It worked pretty well for Bill Russell.

Breaking news — Looks like Jeffery Wilson is a go
foutsrouts replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Happy about this. With a senior, a junior, and 2 sophomores coming back at the position, it might be nice if he sat out next year, but whatever works. Glad to see a quality RB prospect in this class other than Ivery, who I suspect will play all over the place. Welcome aboard!- 36 replies

Xavier Washington on Channel 21 Right Now
foutsrouts replied to foutsrouts's topic in Mean Green Football
The top area players at every position were scheduled to appear in the Channel 21 (television) studios for interviews last Monday night at 7:00 PM. There was a player announced at the last minute as a no-show, and his name was Xavier Washington. Your guess is as good as mine as to why he didn't show, and I hope that clarified things. -
Breaking news -- UNT lands QB Caleb Chumley
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
My thoughts exactly. I sure hope he's the next RG3, but I can't say I'm totally convinced that his winning the starting job is a given. I guess I just need to see more evidence to overcome the fact that we were his only FBS offer. -
He's obviously living his dream, and I'm happy for him regardless. Unless he steals our recruits of course.

Xavier Washington on Channel 21 Right Now

Oops. The no-show is Xavier. -
Top area players segment. Sounds like one of the 4 DL's didn't show. Hope it isn't Xavier.

Beating a team that beat NC does say something. We've got a lot of individual talent, but can we put it together well enough to play consistently good b-ball as we approach the stretch run of the season. I'm definitely starting to get interested enough to make the one on Saturday. As another poster indicated, I hope Benny is beginning to see the light.

In more ways than one.

Looks like a strong kid that could develop. I spent parts of three summers as a kid playing baseball near China Spring, so I guess I'm partial toward the area. Walk on?

I realize he has had some recent health issues, but God willing, he is a guy who seems to take care of himself so he could live for a VERY long time. I'm happy that we're getting this taken care of now, but a lifetime contract seems to be going a little overboard at this point. On the other hand I do hope that he's our HC for many more years.

Off Season Discussion: Greatest Memory of the 2013-14 Season?

The trophy presentation. -
A 2nd or 3rd teamer with some experience can be a valuable asset. I just hope that DW turns out to be the immediate superstar that many are projecting. Spring is going to be interesting.

Sad to see, but I don't blame him a bit. It would be painful from the "what could have been" perspective, but I hope he tears it up at Northern Colorado and ends up in the NFL. BOL.

It's not uncommon. Ray McCallum at U of H comes to mind as a similar situation. He had 3 years left on his contract @ 350k and was reassigned within the athletic department. He chose to leave the 350k per year behind and become an assistant at Oklahoma. http://www.chron.com/sports/college-basketball-men/article/UH-basketball-coach-McCallum-reassigned-1967014.php http://www.soonersports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=31000&ATCLID=208397264

How do you lose money selling watered down beer at stadium prices?

Reassignment OFF the court are my thoughts as well. He's not a kid anymore, and if he wants to sit on his hands for 3 more years just to collect big paychecks then so be it, but that could very well be a career-ender for him. I suspect he could find a pretty good assistant position fairly quickly if he chose to do so. On the other hand, if the wheels TOTALLY fall off on this season those quality assistant offers could get scarce.

This guy seems to think that the game stays on January 1st. http://stholeary.quora.com/The-2014-15-Bowl-Schedule-Will-Look-Like

Grading every college football team's season (USAToday)
foutsrouts replied to jperg2's topic in Mean Green Football
Nice to see that we beat two A's and an A-, and that our two most unfortunate losses were to an A and a B+. -
Wow, I'm just impressed that this thread has hit 12 pages. Kinda tells you what some winning football can do to create a little overall interest. I'll try to shake off my Benforditis and make the next one.

I'll have to say the center position. Not only did we see excellent all-around blocking from the RS Freshman Kirby, but did we even see a fumbled exchange between Kirby and DT? I'd be surprised if we didn't, but I don't recall one offhand. Everything in that area just seemed to flow so smoothly all season.

I believe that Roy Bishop out of San Angelo was also a DD Top 100 high school signee back in '01.

I kind of thought we would get a Mac respect vote or two with his being so well known around the country. Very nice.
