Backup North Texas running back transferring
foutsrouts replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
“We double the U.S. average for starting salaries out of college ($46,000-47,000 for Trinity grads compared to $24,000-25,000 for other schools’ grads).” Not sure exactly what he means by "other schools’ grads," but if that is an accurate average, I can certainly understand why graduates are having trouble paying back their student loans these days. Earning maybe 12 bucks an hour doesn't take you too far. Especially in a high cost area. -
I'm just hoping that their listed weights aren't 10 pounds (or more) heavier than reality.

Aqua is a little much.

So when does this thing end? Mac's back in the lead.

I just put him ahead by a nose.

Amazing that they knew something was wrong for 5 years, and simply assumed it was operational without doing so much as at least taking a glance at payables and receivables. Any private company with those kind of revenues needs to be audited regularly regardless. Not that compensation was the likely cause of this, but maybe next time they won't be so stingy and will pay their veteran controller more than 50K per year. I'd hate to see what they pay the rest of their accountants.

Time to revive "The Eyes of North Texas"

Nice, but we need a picture of a referee below the eagles head. -
An honest question regarding Benford and Johnny Jones
foutsrouts replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I just think that expectations for the program were quite a bit lower when Johnny took over, so most diehards were willing to wait out the "on the job training" that JJ seemed to have to go through himself. With higher expectations over the past few years, it's understandable that the same kind of patience given to JJ is not really going to be there for Benford. If there's no serious signs of overall improvement next season, I don't see how anybody could remain patient. -
I've been invited by an old high school buddy who happens to be a whorn with season ticket access, so I'll be sleeping with the enemy and keeping my wallet shut for the evening. On the other hand, my flapping mouth will probably have me sleeping on the street after we pull off the victory.

MGB: UNT post-spring depth chart, thoughts
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I know there's a lot of talent out there, but that has got to be one of the smallest "listed" defenses I've seen since the 1AA days. Of course size isn't everything, at least not in this context, but we've obviously got a lot of work to do over the next 4 months. God forbid, but a few key defensive injuries could mean putting some serious "smallness" on the field. -
6'8" works in a different sport. Not so much in this one. I was there in '88 and will be there once again. We can do it.

MGB: UNT men's basketball team parts ways with player
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Wow. All I have to do is look away for one day and another one bites the dust. Starting to think Benny has some kind of Napoleonic complex when it comes to the big guys. -
Oh. Sorry for just glancing at the thread and thinking it was just another smu vs. NT off-season thread. Sad to say, but after last night I don't really see arguing AAC vs. USA on a basketball thread at this point. Maybe in a year or two. Case closed.

Actually I think they were behind us for the better part of '87-'08. If we weren't at least ahead of them in '87 and '88 we've really got problems .

My opinion is based on the game at Tulsa a couple of years ago where I had very good seats. I know it's shortsighted, but I just can't get that performance out of my mind. If he's our starter I sure hope he has reinvented himself.

MGB: breaking news -- UNT lands JUCO forward Mohammed Ahmed
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Yes, other than his FT's his numbers are pretty impressive. Sure hope he's the kind of guy who can mesh quickly with the team. We need some firepower among other things. -
Kelvin Gaines leaving UNT for pro career
foutsrouts replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Not that I don't wish him success in his future endeavors, but somehow I think we donated more to him than he donated to us. On the other hand I can imagine that playing for Benny can be quite a sacrifice.- 56 replies

smu could care more. A whole lot more. -
I kind of suspected it. Hopefully it was caused by the curse of Mangrum.

Forrest Robinson Big East tourney game
foutsrouts replied to sparkmank's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Always liked the guy and saw him play out in Eastland before Denton. He has always been a shooter, and his length and agility can't be taught. BOL to him, and I hope he tears it up from here on out. Benny could had used him. -
Yes, Benford's pre-game Juarez lunch strategy is really paying off.

I'm actually kinda pumped for some reason. Regardless of the need to win an insane 5 in a row here, I guess this time of year brings back the memories and dreams of Hot Springs. Come on GREEN!

With our lack of shooting ability, we've got to find a way to get some points off the break. I can't believe we got zero yesterday and still won. Last chance for the guys to properly send Tulane packing to the American Airlines Conference.

I once interviewed a guy who worked at Lincoln Tech and graduated from Texas Tech. When he started saying "Tech this and Tech that" I became very confused.
