  1. I agree. They'll try and duplicate Austin. I'd prefer to give DW a shot, but it won't happen.
  2. Especially on the QB's and WR's, since they didn't end up with a single blemish on them. Instead of green, maybe next time they should come in a flaming pink.
  3. I have kind of mixed feelings on the subject, but if we don't market ourselves as UNT on a national level, then people on a national level will never know us as UNT. It would basically have to be forced upon those outside of the region like with UTEP, USC, USF and so forth. One thing I'm not real fond of seeing is "No Texas" or even "N Texas" on a stadium/TV scoreboard. It seems to cheapen the image a bit to me.
  4. It may be a slight stretch in hoping for greatness, but at least the guy has been either playing or working within a college football program for 2 full years since high school. As far as being around the college game, he's not a total rookie in the experience department. Let us hope that he pulls through. Really looking forward to Saturday. Sunday too, since I'm catching the BU/smu game on the way back from Austin.
  5. “Stay at home? What do you mean, staying at home? Bedford said. “ "What do you mean we have 8,000 or 9,000 tickets left?" Sadly, we'll be hearing something similar from a similarly named guy come November. Sorry, just couldn't resist.
  6. I agree. The "market" excuse for adding teams to a conference can sometimes be very lame.
  7. Pegram plows in on 4th and goal as time expires. The extra point wins it 28-27, but only after several made up penalties push us back 35 yards.
  8. Abbe and Abbe. It would just make me feel more comfortable having two DL line busters in there. Other than Abbe and Abbe, I'll go with Trice and Sarge. Both were great at leading us into battle.
  9. http://www.weather.com/weather/wxdetail4/USTX0057 Better pack the ponchos.
  10. Sadly, blood won't show up too well on those things.
  11. I wasn't a tornado myself until I hit 5, so maybe we've got that stealth thing working again.
  12. Yeah, I've never believed in running it up. Especially against a brand new coach.
  13. I hope he ends up winning the Heisman here, but apparently no one but NT saw that potential coming out of HS. He has got one more year than Greer (and probably ahead of Means), so maybe that future is still in the cards.
  14. Nice write-up. Very happy about the decision. He will help us best utilize the pass protecting abilities of our deep and experienced OL, and will hopefully give us a chance to spread out the D and win in Austin. I'm a very happy camper. Also nice to have a guy backing him up who knows the offense so well in McNulty.
  15. Nice job Carlos. Way to represent the Green!
  16. TCU was pretty much a 40 year doormat before they began their close to 15 year Wacky, CUSA, MWC run with Patterson. We'll see how things shake out in their new stomping grounds. As far as the MWC is concerned, I'd like to see the terms before definitively throwing out my hot sports opinion. I do believe that it would at least be a partial step up in national recognition, and I do love it out west, but the natural regional rivalries we're working on right now aren't too bad. If we took a fellow Texas team or two with us I'd probably be inclined to go for it.
  17. So does this mean that the 2000 tons of alums do actually care?
  18. I think both will likely play, but I'll be shocked if it's not AM starting out. I'm guessing that the staff sees more "bus driver" stability (and mobility) from AM, especially since he has been here for so much longer. IMO we need the bigger arm threat against UT that Greer provides.
  19. So sad that Diaz lost his 700K salary and wasn't able to provide for his family for a couple of months. I sure hope that both he and Mack were able to qualify for food stamps after their terminations.
  20. His grandpappy Genghis was one bad dude. Nice addition.
  21. I'll go with Greer. I like his arm strength, and also think that his movement and overall footwork may be a little underrated. He could very well prove to be a pleasant surprise downfield with our excellent OL protecting him in the pocket. Of course he will actually need to see the field for any of this to have a chance of happening. My sincere apologies for cheating on the non-QB theme of the thread.
  22. DT was a very solid FBS QB. His efficiency rating was a little above average (61st?), and w/o a couple of tipped pick sixes he would had been more like Top 50. He may not have been an Elway or an Aikman, but he did a very nice job and is an all-time NT great. Hell, if I remember correctly he was rated only a couple of slots behind the "great" Garrett Gilbert last season, whom many had as the number 1 rated QB in the country coming out of HS. He provided a lot of intangibles, and was he even responsible for a fumbled T/O last season? I'd be surprised if there wasn't one somewhere, but I don't remember it.
  23. Are you a natural born pinata?
