  1. You may have something there.
  2. Begrudge and complain? Dude (or dudette) you've obviously got a problem, because I didn't begrudge or complain about anything. I simply stated facts. Btw, are the Cougars so broke now that they cannot even afford their own message board? I guess that explains your presence and attitude. You win. UH is obviously dead broke relative to all of the schools that you idolize.
  3. Back in the 90's, Moores gave UH the largest donation ever in the history of a U.S. public university, and you probably wouldn't even have an athletic program if it weren't for the Robertsons/Cullens. You all haven't done too badly in the bigwig donation department over the years. Btw, McClain was certainly the lead donor for Baylor's new stadium, but a couple of other guys along with the city footed about a third of the bill, which is more than the entire cost of Apogee.
  4. The Robertson and Moores families haven't exactly provided U of H with chicken feed either. We have a couple of very nice high dollar donors, but nothing like the wealthy donors that have thrown megabucks at U of H over the years. Hopefully this will somehow eventually change with the huge Metroplex growth toward Denton.
  5. On top of that, we started out as a private school ourselves 25 years before little newbie smu even held their first classes. Unlike them, we decided to grow rather than hang with small privates.
  6. You would think that $25 worth per person per visit would have filled their stomachs, since Walmart doesn't generally prosecute for small amounts. I guess they were absent that day in shoplifting school.
  7. If Smith totally outclasses Mini in August and Mac still finds an excuse to start Mini and bench Smith, then I think that Mac loses this team and even 3-4 wins would be unlikely. I surely hope that Mac is not willing to take it that far.
  8. No doubt. I was born and raised there, and Houston hasn't been anywhere close to a Cougar town since the ancient days of Phi Slamma Jamma. I do give them credit for improved attendance and scheduling since moving back to campus though. I remember sitting through many a game in The Dome, watching good Cougar teams, where pretty much the only sound in the stadium was the QB calling the count and air raid sirens.
  9. I've probably been to around 20 games there over the years, and I'm not sure I'd consider it the "best" game day experience in Texas, but I no doubt consider it the weirdest game day experience in Texas if not the whole country. Everybody should do it once, and what better way to do it than an NT victory. Shutting them up can be a pretty enjoyable thing.
  10. Ever since I blew off online gambling, I really can't think of any college team outside of Denton.
  11. Because speed seems to be the main issue, 25 plus pounds and the DL sounds like the way to go. Since you say he's pretty lean, that should be doable in a year or two.
  12. Bottom line is that we still have no experienced rim protector, and this guy was probably the best shot at pulling one in. Same ole same ole.
  13. Yes, and we all know that Apogee will be our stadium until either the sun burns up or the feminization of America ends the game entirely. His legacy has been secured.
  14. I like it. We've got a pretty good group of talented young receivers to chase down his throws, and getting a QB on the field that was actually wanted by major programs out of high school would be a nice change around here. Besides, it wouldn't surprise the Hell out of me if we have another QB not show up this August. Where would that leave us then? Cisco or not, very impressive numbers. Why only 7 games? Any lingering injury issues?
  15. My apologies for breaking into someone else's dialogue, so I'll just briefly say that I'm not sure that I agree with a lot of that. Did anyone besides Mac really want AM as a scholarship QB? Anyone? And weren't there other potentially viable options in every instance where Mac placed AM on the top shelf? Personally, I would have let DW try and play through his issues last season, and this is coming from someone who was a DW skeptic from the beginning. I sure hope that AM skeptics (including myself) are proven wrong this season, because I strongly suspect that he is almost unmovable from the position.
  16. A neighborhood kid (average athlete at best) that I played multiple sports with from early grade school to high school ended up being our starting running back his senior year to the dismay of practically everyone. Guess what. Our coach and his dad were teammates and buddies at A&M. We won 3 games only because of a stellar defense. That kind of stuff will routinely go on in kiddie ball until the end of time, but it has no place where the participants are old enough to own a razor.
  17. Sad, but not surprised at all. The details will be interesting if we ever get to hear them publicly.
  18. Can we ditch the blue?
  19. Yep. Glad I didn't graduate from a step-child school. At least we've got a little independence going for us.
  20. The couple of hundred bikers in the Waco jail are probably entering through Gate 3 as we speak.
  21. How Mac couldn't help in pulling off at least a 2 for 1 with Iowa is beyond me. I'd certainly rather play them as a road money game than an SEC team, but other teams in our conference somehow seem to be able to schedule home games of that caliber at least every once in awhile. Seems that our scheduling strategy for the foreseeable future is Smu, Army, bodybag, and reverse bodybag. Guess we have to live with that until that ancient "sleeping giant" finally awakens. I'm starting to suspect that the old giant is going to sleep away my entire lifetime.
  22. If the OL comes through well enough, we've definitely (IMO) got enough pieces on offense to score enough points to win quite a few games this year. Without a solid QB with big play potential under center, I retract my previous statement.
  23. Pathetic numbers. It probably didn't help much that we lost some of our "name schools" to the AAC.
  24. Best news I've heard all day. Now on to learning the offense.
