Middle Tennessee Schedules Series With Mizzou
foutsrouts replied to James329's topic in Mean Green Football
You left out: UTSA - K.State, Colorado State, Arizona State, Baylor and of course: NT - Army, smu I envy all of our conference mates OOC schedules. If smu would start bringing more than a minivan full of fans to Denton I would be a little happier. -

OK, OK!! But just out of curiosity, how do other teams in our conference (and other G5's) with similar attendance numbers manage to pull it off? TIA. -

Have to concur on that one. Ridiculous, especially considering the connections. -
In my book, NO person in ANY office has an exemption from disrespect based upon their actions. I'm not a Bush hater, so I'm not referring to Bush in this context. I certainly voted for him enough times.

If the 100 fans that Rice brings are more than our alleged rival UTSA brings then our rivalry is in trouble. Oh, I'll go with UTEP in the hope that the game actually means something. It'll be half empty otherwise.

Boise St. more morally grounded than Baylor?

Looks terrible to me too. I just hope we get more truly factual stuff on this soon. -
Due to the speed of the game, tackle on either side can be a tough position to take on with zero experience out of high school. Hope we get it worked out, because McNulty is going to need all of the protection on the edge that he can get.

He's not a real Texan just like 90% of the people at smu, so I'm sure he feels at home there. Besides, his wife would likely betch slap him if he showed a lack of enthusiasm for the punies.

TCU was actually consistently pretty pathetic from 1960 up into the late 90's. Only three minor bowl games for them (all losses) between 1960 and 1997 before Patterson arrived on the scene. Almost hard to believe how bad they were considering their teams of recent years. http://www.jhowell.net/cf/scores/TexasChristian.htm

Too early to consider San Antonio a true rival. Unless I guess someone is from San Antonio and hangs a lot with UTSA grads

I agree. I like our back 7 and particularly the depth in most areas there. Unlike some, I'm still concerned about our defensive tackle situation. We've got a lot of bodies, but the truly big and potentially bad guys are mostly young and inexperienced. What big Abbey did a couple of years ago was a bit underrated, in that he he got great penetration, drew doubles, and was generally a disruptive force out there. We need someone to step up in the middle in a big way. I wish Sir Calvin was looking like that guy, but I just haven't been feeling that thus far.

The roommate decided to be the coward when it came time to perjure himself, but they should still charge him with lying on the police report, especially if this was indeed the reason for the cops not following up on this. -

Great to have a CEO who actually sees the green light to greatness. -
I'm pretty confident that we will win. They certainly won't be as bad as last season, but neither will we.

Dajon Williams transfers to Texas A&M Commerce

That thought got me checking out NFL'ers from both of our schools, and I'm wondering what anyone remembers about http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/W/WebbJM20.htm this guy. If he actually hit the field here, I must be having a serious brainfart to not remember a 6' 7" 335 pound current NFL tackle who was allegedly on our roster so recently. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/schools/notexas/ -

!80 days county time and 10 years probation. Waco is again protecting Waco, and protecting Baylor is protecting Waco. Not that I enjoy seeing people fry in prison, but if this guy was a non-athlete working at the local gas station in Mclennan County he would be locked away for life. This is Waco, and Briles will likely slip away scot-free for his football greedy part in all of this. http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/2015/08/former-baylor-de-sam-ukwuachu-found-guilty-of-rape-in-waco-court.html/ Among other things, allegedly choking and punching your "girlfriend" in the head is probably more than just one violent outburst. -

Here's the Texas Monthly article for those who missed it. Briles and Co. obviously were just hoping it would go away. http://www.texasmonthly.com/article/silence-at-baylor/ -

I know of a similar situation in Waco a few years ago where it was paid off and brushed under the rug. Makes you wonder just how many there really are that go unreported. -

He'll probably end up being the next Wade Wilson coming out of Commerce. BOL to him. -
Another crappy thing about this crap schedule
foutsrouts replied to UNT90's topic in Mean Green Football
The ONLY positive I can dig out of our schedule is that we open relatively soft, which will hopefully give all of the new guys time to adjust as well as build momentum for the rough part of the season. Four of the first five games should be very winnable, and if we could somehow pull off a miracle win in Iowa, in my dreamworld we would be 5-0 facing a big Thursday face off with W. Kentucky at Apogee. Of course we will need to be much improved for this dream to have a snowball's chance of happening. 4-1 at that point wouldn't exactly break my heart either. -
Along with Jimmerson's ridiculous charge, what's this crap with the Denton PD arresting people for disregarding a traffic control device or speeding 46 in a 30? I see that stuff every time I look in their police blotter. Are they trying to fill up empty bed space or what?

"The situation causes some to call into question the wisdom of investing more than $100 million in athletic facilities at a school known for its music program with a student body that was largely raised as fans of in-state national powers Texas and Texas A&M." Crappy way to end the preview whether there's any truth to it or not.

I'm going more with the optimistic crowd and saying around 10,000 in Green, around 10,000 that will be a combination of Dallas giveaways along with those in Red, plus something around the usual 10,000 or more ghosts that regularly haunt Gerald J. Ford Stadium to get us to an announced crowd of around 30,000.
