  1. The Phony Express is going down. It will forever be known as The Massacre on Mockingbird.
  2. Yeah, 2 of our 3 starting QB's last year had zero other D1 (FBS) offers. Unusual recruiting tactics for the most important position on the field to say the least.
  3. Don't we even get a little microdot on the map for Denton, or have they decided that our campus is thoroughly Longhorn Country too? What's the deal with the TCU Sherman - Denison island anyway? I've spent a good bit of time around there and don't recall any Frog Mania.
  4. Whew, for a second there I thought Mac was bringing in another one. All I can say is that a QB with a below average arm and pretty good mobility can still be very good at this level, but only if he has the right supporting cast to go along with really having what it takes above the shoulders. We shall find out soon enough whether or not this is his breakout year.
  5. We're going to be in deep pony dung if we can't score big. Plodding three and outs isn't going to cut it.
  6. True, but the difference in basketball attendance now at Moody is like night and day. On the other hand a lot of those in attendance at those games appear to be local Dallas basketball fans rather than alums. Wish we could get Denton locals to do likewise if we ever have a quality hoops team again.
  7. I suspect that most of the frustrations are directed more at Mac's overall QB recruiting/management tendencies rather than strictly at the Bogie situation. Mac has been here for a while now, and failures in that area have become fairly obvious. You're probably right that now might not be the best time to complain about water under the bridge, but there's really not a lot to talk about until tonight's kickoff when most will likely turn their attention to the punies. Maybe we should direct the betching at whoever gave us this damned opening off week.
  8. Plus I hear he's a half inch taller.
  9. I think we have a policy of not accepting 6 foot quarterbacks unless they're from the frozen North.
  10. Surprising on the defensive side. Two late career defensive transfers, one of whom has never seen the field, and the other with limited playing time who has never really been mentioned as a possible starter. I thought McNulty was going to be a lock on the offensive side, but I'm surprised that there is no Carlos Harris.
  11. Wow, it all starts in 5 minutes. Thanks for the heads up.
  12. To give Smith an extra week of practice to not move into the starting QB position.
  13. I basically did that (diplomatically) to a sociology professor who dissed our university both academically and athletically more than once in the classroom. At the end of the semester the jerk burned me with a C, but I appealed and ended up with the B that I deserved. Don't these people realize that they are only putting down themselves when they put down the university where they are employed? Same goes for NT students who wear UT shirts around campus.
  14. It's probably much easier when you schedule half of your future OOC games against the same two schools 27 years in advance.
  15. Naw, Eastern Washington has a long established program. We only want brand new programs freshly removed from D2 like Incarnate Word.
  16. Probably true from our vantage point, but the "big boys" probably see us and The Belt in pretty much the same light. With all of the P5 win opportunities for CUSA this season, hopefully the conference can at least begin to make its mark over the next few weeks.
  17. 8-5, partly because no one else picked it, and partly because I think it's doable if we get MUCH improved QB play one way or another.
  18. I guess some things are best kept secret. Kind of like telling a hot gal that you carry a small endowment before asking for her phone number.
  19. I guess that some programs are quick at playbook education and choose talent over seniority. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/13552682/everett-golson-named-florida-state-seminoles-starting-qb-2015-season
  20. Except that prior to last year, Mac hasn't shown a great propensity to give his backup QB's much work. Unless of course the backup's name begins with Mc.
  21. They don't travel to visit us north of Texas Stadium, so I guess JerryWorld would qualify.
  22. Nice to see the Jordan Murray moving up. I thought he might end up being a long-term project.
  23. I agree. Even many on this board have been taking in the pundits negativity by saying that we're going to be really bad. I'm not so sure about that, and we'll obviously know a lot more by the end of the Rice game. 4-8 is behind us and it's a new season.
  24. We had a lot of draft dodgers that year and no one thought we could even field a team.
  25. I think that most around here have made it pretty clear that they want lower level P5 teams in Apogee. Not Alabama or Georgia, who wouldn't come here anyway for the foreseeable future. We are scheduling pretty far down the road now, so TCU/Baylor/Missouri or even Okie State at Apogee in the 2020's wouldn't frighten me much. I'm not going to go out on a limb and say that "we won't always be sub-P5," but I am betting that teams like Baylor and TCU won't always be at the top of the heap. Things change.
