Its time to Fire RV, Canales and maybe Mac
foutsrouts replied to KingDL1's topic in Mean Green Football
My thought was that if we DON'T exhaust or even use backups at an 0-5 point after a Portland loss (IOW's stick with AM exclusively), then something really crazy is going on here, and we should find a way to reassign Mac. In a reassignment we don't necessarily get stuck with the term of his contract. It depends on whether or not he is in demand and wants to work as an assistant elsewhere, or whether he wants to stick around Denton in a diminished role for the term of his contract. I agree it's a gamble, but going down the tubes at 0-12 is not something that this program can afford at this point IMO. Let us hope that it doesn't come to that. -

I wouldn't count on a Portland win unless there's a QB change. If no change at 0-5, I say reassign Mac and do the Chico thing again. I know I'm dreaming, but hopefully Mac would still want to assistant coach somewhere and mitigate our losses. If Mac sticks exclusively with the status quo under center after a Portland loss, I would honestly start to be concerned about the guy. -
Do we really know that for a fact, or do we know that simply because Mac says so? Nothing personal against the guy, but I don't think McNulty should have ever been given a scholarship in the first place, and we all know he wouldn't have even been looked at had there been no relationship. I don't remember that far back, but there had to be better options out there if Mac was recruiting QB's objectively. There just had to be. Hopefully McNulty had a high fever or something last Saturday and the new and improved version will show up this week as the next Tom Brady.

I suspect he'll still be here next fall even if we go 0-12 with McNulty at the helm, but I know for sure that I won't be in the stands. Rice and Portland are most likely my last two games this year unless changes are made. Well, I might come back and picket with a "Just Say No To Nepotism" sign or something along those lines.

Did us proud.

No doubt.

Tips to attending and enjoying a home UNT game?
foutsrouts replied to DukeNukem's topic in Mean Green Football
Numb your head with tequila, roam the tailgating areas, and buy your Rice tickets at the stadium. That simple. Welcome aboard. -
Based on his overall personality, I'm afraid that Mac will now circle the wagons and stubbornly refuse to make the obvious move. That thought makes me very sad. I voted no myself because the jury is still out. I'm very skeptical of a not guilty verdict, but I'm still holding out hope. At least for a few more weeks.

MGB: Carlos Harris comes to defense of McNulty
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Loyalty and friendship are wonderful things, but unfortunately reality is often not such an easy and wonderful thing to face. Fans and supporters of this program in general do matter. A lot. -
They'll be bloodbaths because we can't score any points in our current situation. Our defense and special teams show promise, but they will no doubt become disillusioned if this crap continues on the offensive side of the ball. I'm done with my cathartic bitchin' for the time being. You all have a nice Sunday, and Go Texans/Cowboys!

Yes, but most of those successful conservative offenses are at places like Alabama, where they restock their trenches and RB's with the best players in the country year after year. They can get by with bus drivers. Can we or any other G5 team in the country consistently win without QB wizardry of some sort? I doubt it.
-
True, but there is certainly some evidence that Smith could get the job done. Do we really think that McNulty could put up anything close to Smith's numbers at Butler CC? Smith is worth a shot sooner rather than later IMO before this thing completely goes to hell. Almost sounds like I'm talking about Dajon of last year, but they're two very different individuals. Mac needs to wake up.

I kind of doubt there's an old man in this fan base who wouldn't make a quarterback change next week, but maybe I'm just getting seriously senile. Maybe another Grey Goose shot will bring me back down to earth. Oh well, on to the hell called Rice. Geez.....
-
Give the freaking 4 star recruit a chance before his 23 (25+) game shot is over. And no, I'm not talking about Berglund. This isn't 1984 when the QB is only a cog in the machine Mac.
-
Please. If they had no connection AM would likely simply be a student in Iowa City or somewhere right now. Denial can only be taken so far.
-
Yet Greer will likely still be number 2 simply because he is "tall". Utter stupidity IMO. Give the six footers not from Iowa a chance before this season is all over. Deja vu.
-
Sorry, but AM would likely not start on any 3/4A team in Texas without a family connection even at this point. He is simply not an FBS QB in my book. I'm pissed, because we had several opportunities to put points on the board early if we had only had an FBS QB in there. Thanks a lot Mac. Great job by the defense btw. Without your great effort we would have lost by 50.

UTSA vs Kansas St. @ 11 CST FS1
foutsrouts replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
A pack of quality QB's in this league. Let's just hope it rubs off on us, and that our DB's make a good showing today. -

Bogie looking sharp once again, but tough failure on 4th and goal. Jacksonville State over Auburn at the half? I know it's before early, but anyone else detecting a bit of parity this season? -
Contain him and we win.
-
A third of the state must be jumping off of buildings like crazy tonight. We should go half mast because of this humiliation.
-
I guess we would have been better off bringing Washington State in for homecoming, but apparently we don't do such things.

Selling Ford Tempos for a living is the best that you can do with your degree? Sad.

Portland State over Washington State 17-10 in the 4th. Poor Leach. Where's Nichols when you need 'em.
