Mini was a recipient of a charitable contribution when he got offered here, so it's hard to really blame him for his performance on the field. Never heard of a QB from half way across the country being offered a free ride at a school in Texas when he had no other offers period. Beating the proverbial dead horse once again, but maybe Mac will wiggle out a charitable deduction from it all.

Basically, nobody wanted Dajon just like nobody wanted McNulty. I certainly don't believe exclusively in the "Stars" system for recruiting, but it does have some validity. I'm just afraid that we'll never get to see what this 4 Star guy with some very successful post-HS experience can do. Btw, we all know that Means and Greer weren't exactly lighting up the recruiting boards across the country either, so I guess this is just the MO of our coaching staff. Depressing.
-
I truly don't believe he will get the chance this year. Greer might, but not Smith barring a rash of injuries. If McNulty really is the best we've got, it shines an even worse light on this staff, as a guy who is basically a walk on QB (with a scholly) is the best that they could possibly find in year five of their "rebuilding program". The quarterback position just doesn't seem to be taken seriously around here these days.

The football Gods will likely give us a cold and drizzly rain to make them feel right at home.

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else think that Big Mac's Monday night shows sound more like he's in his 1st or 2nd year rather that his 5th?
-
Mac gets an all expenses paid trip home, and his favorite team gets to start the season 4-0.

Pete Beathard would likely burn our secondary for 500 yards at this point.
-
Except for the fact that we require an explosive game from the position to win, and he is probably not capable of supplying that explosion. Same will probably hold true next week.
-
Our staff put him there, so yes. If someone offered me a spot on the olympic sprint team I would surely take it regardless of the humiliation.
-
MicroMac is surely waiting in the wings. Time to head off to Denton into the MiniStorm.

Sounds like we need to build a relationship with this guy before somebody else does. If his measurables are reasonably close to accurate, looks like he's got the size, speed, strength, and probably small town toughness to have a shot at being a playmaker for us. Digging up small town talent no matter where it's located obviously needs to be a major priority for us.

MGB weekly prediction: UNT will pull the stunner
foutsrouts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
"The Mean Green face a brutal schedule this year and will play back-to-back games on the road against Iowa and Southern Miss after hosing Rice." Wow, that's what I call optimism. -
He just must have been one of those super duper freshmen.

Nice. So can we now afford to cancel a body bag game? -

Rice 1 NT 0 Mac forfeits after Mini breaks his pinky toe in warmups. -
We're already pretty much doing that at several positions now, so we'll probably get there soon enough.
-
But if he were instructed to keep the ball his chances of injury would go way up, and an injured Mini means Mac would have no choice but to go with a different option at the QB position. OK, my last beating of this particular horse until Saturday.

Rice looking for bounce-back win against UNT
foutsrouts replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Not exactly groundbreaking news, but if we fail at our ball control offense it could REALLY get ugly. Somebody has got to step up at RB and find a way to churn out first downs while burning clock. Without the threat of a vertical passing game that's going to be tough. -
Varied, but mostly positive. We were trying to recover from a high school coach who basically brought in his entire high school staff to join him you know.
