Let's freak the world and have the banner circle Neyland in Knoxville. It would certainly garner national attention just from the laughs.
-
Agreed. Just don't think we should rule it out before repeating our mistakes.
-
You mean like you when you wanted Mac and TD? Let's just repeat this all over again shall we? Wake up, and putting RV's name in every post is obviously getting you nowhere.
-
So RV stuffs the envelopes himself?
-
Great to hear. The guy always had the physical gifts and just could turn out to be a late bloomer. It would be pretty crazy if he ended up making it and not Tony.

Everitt Withers Bio and College Gameday Footage

If the girl comes with the deal I'm definitely all for it. -
So let's just go hire someone with a name, just because he has a name, and repeat this buyout crap over and over again. The more I think about it the more I lean toward offering Canales, and it has zero to do with one win over a team from San Antonio. I want someone who actually gives a damn about this school.

Listening to the first half on the way to the smu game, I didn't sense a whole lot of chemistry between the two guys, but that seems to have definitely changed for the better. Not saying that I don't miss George at all, but the transition now seems to be relatively seamless. Great radio voice and we're lucky to have him.

DRC Monday column: Canales providing spark again

I agree. He seems to be a very likable guy. I guess recruiting talent is something that he will have to prove (possibly), since our recruiting has been pretty close to the bottom during his fairly long tenure around here. -
Maybe we can all meet in the Sack & Save parking lot after the season and settle this Bottom 10 thing once and for all. If we fully trusted any coach that we bring in around here we could easily win an insanity plea.

Those stats are pretty much how I would rank the conferences overall off of the top of my head. I've always liked the MWC idea myself, but I'm a bit biased since I tend to be western oriented, and would love to see us regularly play in places like Colorado and Nevada.

Who Should Be The Next Head Coach @UNT
foutsrouts replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't know about Dooley, but I wouldn't mind the old school AD/HC approach myself. If he has the right support, it tends to breed school loyalty. Save a few bucks too. -
I agree. Sometimes our best option is sitting there staring us in the face, and we get so stupidly greedy that we can't even see what's in front of us. It has certainly happened to me with women more than once in my life. My concerns about him are more related to recruiting rather than field/player generalship. The idea is no doubt worthy of consideration IMO.

Well, he is right on this one. I thought the damn clock was broken with the stupidity of the decision. We've made enough dumb decisions around here as it is.
-
A bad UTEP team gets well over 20K even against Incarnate Word. Boise and Houston don't do too bad either just to name a couple.

What's the deal with the "$5 Fill-Ups" every time I type road bummers? LOL.
-
You're right. We were up in the club area from the get go, and I was starting to think that we must not have any students at our school. When the band went down for the half, there was no one over there but a few $5 Fill-Ups. Pathetic.
-
Agreed, but I don't think we need a guy here now who likes the job just because of a million bucks and low pressure. I think we just had someone along those lines, and we now need someone who is aggressively brave and hungry to win. The reason we are flying a banner tomorrow, is probably because that most of us have zero confidence in the guy who will be doing the vetting for the position. We shall see.

Why the UNT HC salary range is a reflection of our ambition
foutsrouts replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes, we are now at a crucial juncture. Dodge could have been a major winner here, but it was just not to be. There was an overall uptick in enthusiasm for the program when he arrived, and we didn't take advantage of it by not bringing in the supporting cast that we needed for success. The next guy needs to be the complete package. I'm anxiously awaiting the pared down list of those who are interested in this feast or famine opportunity. -
I'll take wins in any way, shape, or form, but having spectacular seasons is the path to consistency. Beating big name teams like a Florida during a winning season would wake up the recruiting pipeline in a big way. You would think that the odds Gods would shine on us one of these days, but I guess we'll just have to wait on that one. And wait, and wait, and wait....

Being Punter U. is rarely a good thing. Since Toby Gowin and before, we've always tended to give them too much real time experience.
-
Too Northwestern and too contracted. Good guy though.
-
A big question is does he want to live back here in Texas for his later years? He's old enough to where the graveyard issue shouldn't be as much of a factor. I like him.
-
Not to be lecturing or anything along those lines, but in the middle of his sorrow, I sure hope that DaMarcus takes this as a wake up call to get his books and his game in order to try and avoid the scene that likely got his brother. I have brothers myself, and I've had worries in that area also over the years. Deepest condolences.
-
I like him as a person too. Hope he finds the right gig for himself. Just too stubborn to be a FBS HC in this era IMO. We all have to learn to accept change as time goes by.
