  1. Yes, and barring an unexpectedly fantastic recruiting class, the frustrating thing is that we aren't going to know much of anything for another 9-10 months. It's going to be a very long off season. Especially since we already pretty much know what we've got in men's basketball.
  2. Another reason to conceal carry if you're an out and about type of person. Since last spring I've been charged by a Pit Bull (good), a Rottweiler (bad), and had a gun pointed at my head while i was caught in the middle of an armed robbery (ugly). Kinda makes you think.
  3. So who even hinted that police departments are overly militarized, and I thought it was the far far left who were generally complaining about this phenomena? I believe that it was lefty Obama who recently announced a federal cutoff of military gear to local police departments. Also, do you have any proof that "very few" war veterans have been involved in police shootings, or is that simply a guess on your part? My guess would be that all of this negative stuff can somehow be connected to RV.
  4. Slo mo storming. Hopefully RV was nice enough to provide gumbo for all post-storm. At least for the "17" in attendance.
  5. Unlikely to happen for obvious reasons. Maybe I missed it, but I'm yet to notice a White Lives Matter movement. This was a very sad incident, but we all have to recognize that a certain percentage of people out there are potentially loose cannons who cannot control themselves when exposed to drugs/alcohol, adversity, or whatever. I do think that our militarized police forces across the country are a little too quick to shoot first and ask questions later these days, but every situation is different and cops have to protect their own lives. IMO, a lot of what is going on nationwide is related to the mindset of some of our ex-military guys who went through hell overseas and are now patrolling our streets. I'm not trying to bash our brave military in any way, but there also seemed to be a similar police mentality after Vietnam, and those guys back in the late 70's into the 80's era didn't have to deal with our current terrorism situation. Nor did they have big brother watching them in the form of surveillance technology. It's a tough job and I'm glad I don't have to do it.
  6. Didn't even know we had a game. That tells the story on how far my interest in this program has fallen. We'll probably make Nichols State look like Golden State.
  7. I agree. Regardless of the SFA joke potential. Sad thing. I've never fired a taser, and am wondering how practical they are in the winter from distance when most of the time people are wearing jackets/coats at night.
  8. Hope we're not doing a rewind.
  9. They can call us Denton Tech as far as I'm concerned at this point. At least that would provide me with some separation.
  10. Isn't doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result termed insanity? Walk away from the game and save our sanity Benny. Maybe we need to banner my second sentence.
  11. People are leaving the room. We better win, and win quick!
  12. Ringing his bell apparently.
  13. Our new OC hire just got a plug on Channel 11 news. Nice. His name recognition should help out with the local media.
  14. I'm very pleased with the regional ties, family legacy, and his overall success in the game of football, but I have to play a little devil's advocate and say that he's easily one of the least experienced OC's that I've ever seen hired at a D1 school. A young staff can be an exciting thing and hopefully good for recruiting, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see if this is a home run hire or otherwise. I just hope that we go with a little more proven experience with the rest of the staff. God forbid that we end up with the majority of our staff bogged down in an extended "TD-like" learning curve. Having said that, welcome aboard Graham, and get out there and find us some big-time aerial game tools ASAP!
  15. I'm assuming that all of the "unknowns'' must have been wearing full body burkas, so therefore their identities are unknown.
  16. I wouldn't vote for Trump either, because I think he's a loose cannon who could even turn out to be borderline psychotic. That's not to say that I don't agree with some of his more moderate thoughts, and does anyone really believe that we haven't already been surveilling certain mosques since 9/11 and likely before? Considering the competition and the current climate, he could very well win the nomination, but I don't see him as being electable in the general election due to his turning off too many moderates. Of course that could all change with a few more major terrorist events.
  17. I don't think the sonnet was really intended as anything close to a mission statement for the country as a whole, since its eventual inclusion on the statue was really the result of one wealthy woman's efforts to have it placed on the statue in honor of her deceased poet friend who wrote it in a fund raising effort. Now it may have evolved into something more in the minds of many, but even the statue itself was not intended to have anything to do with immigration. As far as huddled masses are concerned, the world is full of huddled masses, and if we open our gates to all we will burst at the seams. This country has far too many problems on the horizon to be so short-sighted IMO. Especially when we're talking about potentially adding to this seemingly never ending terrorism problem. The Wild West has been settled and it's time to think about solving our own problems. It will be a lot more than 10,000 if Obama has his way.
  18. Probably not a bad idea. http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/04/us/michigan-boy-mauled-to-death/index.html We got charged by one just last week while hiking by a lake, but luckily he turned out to be a tail wagging sweetie. We pet him for awhile until his ahole owner finally showed up to take him away.
  19. Maybe not in Syria, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if they employ more than one sympathizer in that field right here in the old USA. Even more likely in Europe and the Middle East for that matter. Who needs a microbiologist anyway if the lunatic has a sack of rat poison and 10 bucks for a meal at his/her local buffet.
  20. Yes, guns are probably less lethal than other killing alternatives out there like bombs, viruses, and poisons. I'm actually kind of surprised that we haven't seen one of those latter two alternatives employed somewhere by now.
  21. I think I'm coming down with a mean case of apathy.
  22. I would prefer an established HC myself like Fritz, but I'm afraid that our options are fairly limited here with all of these openings. Let us not blow it and end up with a position coach from Podunk State.
  23. But are even .00000008% of say Southern Baptists into that kind of thing? Canada won't even allow people with 20 year old misdemeanor DWI convictions to visit their country as tourists, but we're supposed to allow 8% bombers to LIVE in ours? Something's just not right there. Glad to see that France is finally stepping up to the plate of reality.
  24. Hope it works for him. His deteriorating health and Flannigan were likely a large part of his not so happy departure from Denton. Can we get a coach with a healthy heart who avoids the smokes and buffets this time around? Same goes for AD.
