  1. What happened? Did we move Ramon to defense?
  2. Not good at all. Btw, the last 100 point game I recall was when Houston blew out Tulsa 100 to 6 back in the late 60's. Hope Akorn doesn't have that in mind today.
  3. "Funny how so many people read only what they want to read." How true!!
  4. How stupid does he think we are? Now he's trying to blame the ineptitude on everyone but himself and Ramon Flannigan. Our HC ond OC are both former quarterbacks, yet they seem to have no clue as to how to attack a defense. Are they just plain stubborn or are they too blind to see that every week we are facing S. Mississippi's defense all over again? At least there was one positive in the article. Even though it took them three games to see the obvious, it appears that they have finally figured out who the starting quarerback should be. We'll see how long they leave him in the game this time.
  5. Too bad he's not an offensive coordinator.
  6. I wonder how long it has been since Akorn was picked by 17.5 points over anyone. Doesn't show a lot of respect for us. If we can score 10-15 points I think we'll cover. Unfortunately, that's a big if.
  7. Incredible statistic. Flannigan has got to go based on that stat alone, and since DD/Flannigan are apparently attached at the hip, I guess that means DD has to go too. Let them work their magic elsewhere.
  8. Hey if he's willing to take the 90% salary cut sign him up!
  9. The really sad thing about our 3 point offensive performance is that we have (in my opinion) one of the better stables of WR's in the country in Quinn, Jackson, Nwigwe and Muzzy. On top of that, assuming that Jamario hasn't plain and simply lost it, we have one of the best RB's in the country. I also think that we have some pretty solid talent at QB in Woody Wilson. So basically this means that we either have an absolutely pitiful OL and/or we have an absolutely pitiful coaching staff. You be the judge.
  10. I've been pretty quiet about firing DD in the past, but I'm really starting to agree that it may be time for some new blood regardless of this season's outcome. The SBC titles certainly were great accomplishments, and I have seen many positive things out of our athletic department over the past few years, but I've seen very little progress out of our coaching staff other than those SBC titles. Recruitment, assistant coaching hires (other than possibly Bleil), personnel decisions, offensive creativity, PLAY CALLING, and overall enthusiasm from the staff seem to be stagnant at best. I don't care if we have to go into the high school ranks, I want a coach with a positive "can do" attitude who exudes enthusiasm and believes that we can beat anybody and get to the next level. I'm tired of the "little old North Texas" defeatest attitude which I believe still permeates our coaching staff. Positive thinking often leads to positive results and I just don't think we have that here. I'm not trying to trash Dickey because I believe that he has some positives and definitely helped us win those SBC titles, but I just don't think he's the guy to take us to the promised land of Division 1A football. Just my opinion and maybe he'll prove me wrong, but he's had 8.25 years to turn this thing around 180 degrees and he hasn't gotten us there yet. Hopefully Akron will somehow prove to be a turning point.
  11. Games like this make we want to ask when basketball season starts. Why do Dickey/Flannigan have to try and prove that we can play smash mouth football against OOC teams? What was wrong with our game plan against SMU and why couldn't we follow something fairly similar to that plan against Tulsa? Was the two headed monster named Dickey/Flannigan picked on as a child and now feels the need to try and prove how tough and strong he is by going straight at the heart of the opponent's defense? Not very smart if you ask me. Hope the smell of tires wakes them up and helps them come to their senses before we get zipped next week. I think Akron will set the tone for the entire season.
  12. Sure the SMU win was nice, but I'm convinced that DD can't coach at our level and win OOC games. He needs to be in a BCS conference where they can recruit offensive linemen that can handle his never ending power offensive game. He and Flanigan just can't get it through there heads that you have to run an offense to fit the personnel that you are able to recruit. A smash mouth offense MAY work for us in the Belt, but against other D1 conferences it is just not working.
  13. I just don't understand our offensive coaching philosophy. We mixed up the play callling pretty well in the first two games, and then they suddenly decide that we need to get back to the same old predictable up-the-middle crap. I don't know if this BS is primarily Flanigan's or Dickey's fault, but this is getting ridiculous. It's like every team we play devotes all of their defensive preparation to studying our S. Miss game in the N.O. Bowl. Just attack the middle with everything you've got and our offense will be rendered helpless. Works nearly every time. Pitiful. Btw, nice job overall by our defense. Just wish we could support them on the offensive side of the ball.
  14. I would love to drive up to Tulsa but am stuck in the Houston area over the weekend. Anyone know if 88.3 in the Houston area is broadcasting our games again this year? My brother down in Houston checked it out last weekend and they were covering a high school game. TIA.
  15. According to the roster, we lose Pruitt, Graves, Early, Carter, Ransom, and Starks on defense. A couple of pretty significant losses, but it really is amazing how young our defense is. Bodes VERY well for the future. Also, I too would like to get a look at Stickler and see if he has what it takes to be a starter at WR. With Quinn, Muzzy, and Nwigwe being seniors, we may soon have major needs at that position. I still think that we should start developing Meager at wideout. He's a sophomore with good hands and speed, and with Tune coming in next year, we will hopefully be set at QB for the next few years.
  16. "Badly"
  17. Since half of you pampered momma's boys are foreigners (not from Texas), that's not very likely. Besides, don't you fellas only work for your parents or in the fashion and cosmetics industries?
  18. If our D plays like they're capable of, and by that I mean they HIT with a vengeance, and Jamario gets untracked, I think we're in for a big-time foutsrouts. North Texas 38 University Park 10
  19. I think the traitors should be shot, and if that's considered cruel and unusual punishment these days, they should at least be flogged.
  20. I guess that means you don't want Phillips?
  21. Little PC from little North Texas State. The ignorance is getting a bit old.
  22. If they don't get kicked out of school first, I say kick those three morons off the squad. I don't care if their husband or brother just scored a touchdown, there is no excuse for flashing a hook em horns sign. Based on the fact that they could not get into the school of their choice, they are obviously admitting to being less than intelligent. They probably just slipped in at North Texas on probationary status.
  23. Offense: F (C+ with Wilson) Defense: D+ (DL and fairly good pass coverage gives em the +, a lot of weak tackling and penalties give em the D) Special Teams: C+ (no muffed snaps or returns for TD's gives em the +, weak tackling gives em the C) Coaching: F+ (they get the + for showing up)
  24. Personally, I haven't been real vocal about dumping Dickey (yet), but I do think that we need to dump the system. We continue to try and play power ball when we are obviously only capable of recruiting "Sunbelt type" power players. Why can we not compete in most OOC games? I think it's because we haven't been able to match the power of most OOC teams! Sure we can play power ball in the Belt, but is winning the Belt our only goal? I don't think so. I know it's not going to happen with Dickey/Flannigan at the helm, but I think that we currently have the personnel to run the spread offense. With Wilson at QB, a stable of fast and capable receivers, a fairly quick offensively line, and Jamario as the lone back, I think that we already have what it takes to run some version of the spread. Not only would it be easier to recruit quality players to fit the new system, but I bet the excitement of a wide open offense would put many more butts in the seats. Too bad that our personnel on the sidelines disagrees. But then again maybe winning the Belt is their only concern.
  25. You're right. I'd like to blame it all on Flannigan's play calling, but the buck stops with Dickey. We have a lot of offensive talent on this team, but they somehow found a way to waste it and come up with only one drive in 60 minutes of football. The opening drive of the second half was beautiful. Tough opponent or not, why could they not even come close to duplicating that drive later in the game, or for that matter, why could they come up with NOTHING in the first half? Coaching. Plain and simply coaching.
