As soon as we finish plugging up the talent pipeline which for several decades has been leaving Texas by way of I-35 North, that little outpost will finally dry up and have to make it all on their own. I think we've recently made the first step in the right direction.

If my memory serves me correctly, we were Big West Conference mates with that crappy football school called Boise State 10 years ago. LOL!! What bitter losers! Let's give those has beens a game next Fall!

Buchanan From Gilmer,tx, Any Word On Him?

Ridiculous comment. Keep trying and maybe someday North Texas will admit you. Bitterness will get you nowhere. -
Anyone who has seen over 500 NT basketball games has certainly got me beat by many miles and I go back to the NT vs DePaul game. If they were all home games, that would be pretty close to 35 years of attending every game. Pretty impressive attendance.

Excellante! I've been waiting for the RB recruits to show their faces! Both have great potential.

Now it's time for a bigtime RB, QB, and a little more BIG help on the lines.

What Changes Do You Want To See After Season...

But you're missing that Tic's players didn't stick. We don't need a repeat of that. Give the guy a few weeks before a new coach you seeks! -
What Changes Do You Want To See After Season...

I say give the guy the season before even talking about doing an el dumpo ala DD. He's shown pretty impressive recruiting abilities as of late, and I'd hate to lose the guys that he has coming in here next season. I just hope that he has learned something from the DD situation and is willing to shore up any coaching deficiencies that he may have with quality assistants. Failure to recognize that was a major reason for DD's speedy demise. -
Let us not forget the possibility of the PAC-10 expanding from the MWC/WAC for playoff purposes, the MWC expanding from the top tier of the WAC for playoff purposes, and the remaining WAC members (our former Belt/Big West mates) being left out in the cold. I guess you could argue that if we were in the WAC we could possibly be part of that MWC expansion as the Froggies traveling partner, but I think that's probably unlikely at this point. I would love to throw caution to the wind and beg the WAC for admission TODAY, but the prudent move at this point is probably to see what happens over the next year or two. Let's just try and win some games over the next couple of years and maybe lady luck will finally land in our corner. Enough of this thread for me.

Yep. Coach Parker was in the movie.

I was here for the Big West and I don't think that any attendance increases since moving to the SBC were related to fan interest in our SBC brothers in any way. We didn't win in the Big West and we did win in the SBC. I do agree that the bowl tie in helped revive interest here in a big way, but I don't exactly see hordes of our opposing SBC fans packing Fouts on a regular basis. Besides, the Big West (football) was basically a smaller version of the SBC of a couple of years ago.

Good guy. Glad he's back in Tejas.

Pull Bell! 36 MINUTES, 1-7, 3 points, 2 boards, 2 assists, and 3 turnovers. See what some of the other guys can do. I wish I was joking, but I KNOW I can do better than that! And all I play these days is church league ball!

And to think that I drove all the way to Miami, Ok for this. Kind of sad.

In past years we have been able to lay some of the blame for our situation on UT-Austin's and SMU(T)'s efforts to block our attempts at progression and "keep us in our place", but I think we now have only our collective selves to blame. It will obviously take time, but every supporter needs to make every effort to actually go out and support, as well as do their best to influence others to do the same. Among many other things, we now have numbers and an exceptional location to our advantage, as well as an administration that seems to have a pretty good idea on what direction to steer the ship. With GB, RV, and TD at the helm, we may just be at the beginning of rapid and positive change. If I hadn't lost my crystal ball I could give a better definition of "rapid and positive change." As far as conference affiliation is concerned, I've never been a big fan of the SBC myself. I definitely wanted us to take the plunge when the opportunity presented itself a couple of years ago, but I'm kind of taking a bit of a wait and see attitude for the moment. If it can be done correctly then I think by all means we should go for it TODAY, but for the moment I'm thinking that maybe we should give Dodgeball a year or two to see how things pan out for the program as well as for the overall conference landscape. All my humble opinion of course. BTW, where does your Daddy eat dinner? I need to put those places on my ignore list!

Thanks. I'll take my umbrella and won't forget to gas up and grab a snack for the trip before I leave Denton.

Since we're in such a regional conference it can't be too far of a drive. I'll pull out my map and figure out what time I have to leave.

There's not much doubt that people tend to equate you with the crowd that you hang out with. This is why many people on a national level tend to think of us as some little upstart school with very little history just like many of our brothers in the SBC. Too bad when you consider that we've been playing football in Texas with some success for nearly one hundred years.

Dickey doesn't strike me as much of a snowboarding partner, but winter sports and mountain scenery are about the only draws I can think of that they have over us. Come to think of it, not a bad draw if you're a mountain person. Luckily most top Texas football recruits don't fall into that category.
