  1. I'm still very optimistic about the future, but having heard only the 1st and 4th quarters of the game on the radio yesterday, I can't say that I was overly impressed with any aspect of our play. The seven turnovers sounds great, but only one score off of seven turnovers? That's got to be an NCAA record of some sort. Having said that, I'm still going to be an eternal optimist and say that we've now got most of the big boys out of the way and maybe we can salvage the season. Let's beat MT next week, and if we can really get pumped for the big home game with Navy and pull off the big upset, we could have a reasonable chance at 5-7. It would be nice to dream about 6-6, but that might be a little too much to ask at this point.
  2. "Fouts would be fine with me if we could just pick up all of the stands and drag them about 40 yards closer together. They're so damn far apart that it's almost like being in two separate stadiums. I would say that the original architect should be locked up for that oversight, but at this point in time he probably wouldn't even know the difference if he's still around." Hmmm...Did I really say that Fouts is looking good to me? Hell, I've got to show at least a little sentimentality toward the place since I'll have to change my handle when/if we finally build the new one. In all honesty, I don't think Fouts would be all that bad if it were built in a MUCH tighter configuration. Not big and beautiful, but not all that bad either. But since that ain't gonna happen, I guess it's all a moot point anyway.
  3. I have to admit that I'm kind of partial to older stadiums myself regardless of the sport. I got to see Wrigley and Fenway recently and really enjoyed the feel of history in those places. Fouts would be fine with me if we could just pick up all of the stands and drag them about 40 yards closer together. They're so damn far apart that it's almost like being in two separate stadiums. 4. To tell ya the truth, a little mediocrity doesn't really sound too bad right now. I'd take 6-6 in a heartbeat!
  5. Not a great all around game, but I'm willing to start giving us some slack as this is CLEARLY a year of retooling. As far as that locked down thread is concerned, we would EASILY whip SLC by a hundred points. Men against boys. It's a childish joke to say otherwise.
  6. Although I wouldn't rule out a couple of our LB's playing on the next level, I think that Jamo and Weathers have the best shot as far as Seniors are concerned. I would also give an underweight Chapman a MUCH better shot than Burress if we're talking Senior DE's. Quickness rules on the next level.
  7. Baylor U. is no longer affiliated with a medical school.
  8. Sounds like your average Okie to me.
  9. If the person you are talking about is who I think you're talking about, that's about as classless as I can think of for a person in that position. Pretty sad when people can't take a little constructive criticism. MOST criticism on this board comes from a love of our school and a desire to see, and possibly influence, positive change in what we may see at a particular time as a problem with our athletic programs. That's what this board is all about! Posting positives AND negatives! From what I recall, you have been pretty passive and constructive in your analysis of what has been going on with our defense this season. Probably a lot less critical than I. BOL, and we did enjoy "Boomer" tonight! Nice and loud!!
  10. Great win tonight and a totally dominating performance by our DL among others. I won't be complaining about our defense again anytime soon after that kind of game to game improvement. Since I generally like to complain about something, I really want to see us find a way to get Jamario more touches. His first quarter run showed me the Jamario acceleration of old, and I really don't like seeing Vizza get banged up so much this early in his career. Other than that, a great all around evening for the Mean Green! Great crowd also!!
  11. Bring in another LB. We have to have containment on the outside.
  12. Well at least they haven't yet figured out our connection to Utah State. They might make things sound even more insulting if they add that to our resume.
  13. It really is becoming noticeable how injury free we've been so far this year (knock on wood). Offensively, the spread offense can provide somewhat of an explanation, but we've been pretty healthy defensively and on special teams as well. Maybe the opposition is scoring so quickly that we don't have much opportunity for injury? Sorry, I just couldn't resist taking my weekly shot at the defense.
  14. Sick SOB's like that make me rethink any opposition to the death penalty that I may have. Death by frying pan would be appropriate for that POS.
  15. Lou would make a good Mean Green mascot when he gets angry.
  16. Well, with Monroe's big win maybe we'll get lucky and avoid the "pillowfight of the week" designation this Saturday? Hey, I'll take any positives I can get at this point!
  17. No, I think that you're being smart. I've been saying all season that we should be under center on occasion. We're a little to telegraphed when we ALWAYS come out of the shotgun. I bet that will eventually change and I'm hoping sooner rather than later.
  18. If we're slow and giving up too many big plays, then we need another LB out there! Mahan and Penson are both pretty quick. Pull Buress and add an extra LB! It ain't exactly rocket science is it?
  19. A return to the 3-4 would likely slow down some of those killer screens in my opinion. As far as Vizza is concerned, I don't think the young guy did too badly considering the situation. Some of his passes had a little more wobble on them than I would like, but he made some nice one's also. One or two of our receivers were a little inconsistent with their hands. In this offense, we've got to catch at least 90+ percent of the well thrown balls. We missed a few potentially big catches tonight.
  20. Well, I guess we will find out about one of those teams soon enough. Hey, I did (and still do) have serious questions about our bringing in all of this "high school help" on our coaching staff, but at this point I'm willing to sit back and give TD the season to show some improvement. We are obviously going through a season of experimentation here in Mean Green Country. Not thrilled with what I saw tonight, but not yet ready to bitch and scream too much and throw in the towel. I just hope that Dodge starts to recognize and rectify any mistakes that he has made here in his first year at this level. At zero and five, I guess that the only positive that I can turn to at this point is the upward trend in the quality of our recruits. I just hope that continues.
  21. NT 44 ULL 35 Ya can't expect Moreland to make all of his PAT's after missing those chip shots, and our D is still a bit on the porous side. I also think that one or two of our young receivers get in on the action in a big way today, and Jamario goes over a hundred with a couple of big runs.
  22. I guess you don't realize that his 9+ months and 4 games as DC are all we have to go on historically at THE COLLEGE LEVEL. Pretty obvious who the "a$$" is around here.
  23. What? This isn't the SL board. Please call him a winner when his team stops someone ON THE COLLEGE LEVEL!
  24. Not good for this year, but at least it gives the guy an extra year to develop to his full potential. If he can get healthy and work hard on his outside shot, he has a chance to be a major contributor down the road.
  25. Naw. If Vizza comes in and plays knockout QB, all he has to do is give Riley a redshirt and make Riley the guy his Junior and Senior years. Riley could be backup QB and a slot receiver his Freshman and Sophomore years. Blood ties run deep, but I doubt deep enough to basically sabotage his own team.
