  1. Hickory Wins! Now it's time for our Mean Green to do the same! Come on dudes! Let's do it!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Can't make it to the WKU game, but I'm trying to work out flying into Mobile instead of Atlanta for some business in Columbus, Georgia. As long as we win on Sunday, I hope to catch the semi's as well as the final.
  3. Yeah, personally I'm glad that we have it tough right off the bat. It'll show what we're made of, and we shall see what we have to make it happen again this year. Winning close on the road (or anywhere) has been rare for us this year, and I'm hoping that we will have a little extra boost of confidence fron here on out after Saturday's road win. Let's do it!!
  4. My first thoughts exactly. Pretty in pink I guess. Is Quoner a cartographer?
  5. So I guess, if all remains the same, that we would host Monroe at home if Little Rock doesn't give us a break and lose a game. Not a bad tuneup based on our last meeting. Since the NIT is clearly out of the question after our conference record collapse (sorry), I guess hosting the first round would be our last chance to see the Mean Green outside of Mobile. Not all bad I guess. I just hope that we can avoid playing BOTH WKU AND South Bama in the tourney. If things work out correctly, I'm hoping to make Bama for the semis.
  6. The "althleticism" I was referring to was mainly his obvious quickness, but I sure wasn't aware that Sturns can barely dunk. Also, I could probably name a few 6'4" guys in the NBA that have trouble dunking, but it might get into politically incorrect territory. I also think that most of the talk involving Sturns is based on him making a nice paycheck on the next level rather than exclusively in the NBA.
  7. I agree. Baseball in particular is so mandatory here that it is almost sickening that we have no program. There would be an immediate influx of talent from this talent rich area that could easily see us field a regionally competitive program here within 3-5 years. RV has GOT to find a way to juggle things to get us a baseball program ASAP!!
  8. Donnell Hayden was a talented transfer, and even though they were well balanced, it's hard not to mention someone from last year's team (and hopefully this year's) since they went dancing. Since he put in four good years I'll go with Calvin Watson.
  9. Forward? I've always agreed that Sturns would be much better off not playing at the point, but at his size and with his skills I wouldn't look for him at forward. I also wouldn't completely rule out his chances on the next level. The NBA will be a difficult row to hoe for him, but you cannot teach the athleticism and speed that he possesses. I wish him the best of luck and hope that he can get his game under control well enough to find success. Quite a few guys with lesser skills have found a way to acheive that dream and you just never know.
  10. Great game and great overall win. The crowd wasn't very impressive, but at times got into it. Since I like to complain about something, I wish Dennis would have been left in to get his 40, and Howerton would of got more minutes since Wooden is definitely on the gimpy side. I also agree that Josh looked a little out of it again tonight, but I'm very confident that he'll be back. Overall, we are looking good going into the home stretch.
  11. I guess that makes us better than the Aggies and anyone that they have beaten this year. The road to the final four begins tonight!!
  12. You beat me to it. Word for word.
  13. I'll gladly apologize after you apologize for your spelliing.
  14. Stick the kid on a bus to Stillwater. I'll chip in for the fare.
  15. Mangrum was recruited by Baylor, TCU, Smu, Tulsa and Stephen F. I think he committed to us pretty early in the game. I agree that he needs to work on his outside shot. Could be the weakest part of his game. Just a guess, but he was so dominant in high school that he may not have developed it as well as he could have. Anyone know how well he's recovering from his surgeries?
  16. That could be one of the reasons why some people tend to overlook Magrum. Also, he has over two and a half years before he even starts his senior season which gives him quite a bit of time to develop. I hope we get to find out just how much he can develop, and I also think that loyalty should at least play a small part in Mangrum's retention since we weren't exactly his only option coming out of Howe. Btw, didn't you recently say in another thread that you were "under-impressed" with Flemings abilities? Although I would like us to find a way to get Flemings in here, with serious grade problems and questionable D1 abilities, I'm not so sure I'd be too quick to pull the plug on a three year Mangrum for a two year (maybe) Flemings.
  17. I'd hate to lose Mangrum and would be surprised if he weren't renewed. If he can get healthy and work hard on his 3's, I kind of think that he could be a nice contributor over the next 3 seasons.
  18. If JJ thinks he's worth the chance I agree. I wouldn't mind either if we could find a way to bring along his three point shooting Lithuanian friend. I've always thought that we should be keeping an eye out more for international talent. Unfortunately, we've got to find a big post guy in a major way, and I doubt that we can find the schollys to accomodate them all.
  19. Yeah, JJ may have some tough decisions to make as far as PT is concerned here down the stretch. Also, we can't forget about losing a couple of other 6'4"/6'5" very athletic defenders from last year's team in Young and Sturns. Sturns may have had some offensive liabilities last year especially when playing from the point, but he could be pretty effective at times in disrupting the opposition's rhythm. We have some nice firepower this year in Dennis and White, but I guess we'll just have to deal with being a bit smaller and less experienced on the perimeter than last year's team.
  20. Probably whatever he can muster.
  21. Bad loss. We've got to get healthy all around and also get the Wooden/Dennis scoring combo at full force to have a chance at matching last year's performance. We just don't have the three bigger guys defensively on the perimeter this year, and I'm starting to think that the only way that this can be overcome here down the stretch is to find the right combo to seriously outscore the opposition. I guess that the other option on the defensive side would be to give TT and McCoy a lot more PT. I would really love to have a chance at a bye from the West, but if Wooden isn't feeling right I say sit him until he does. Sure can't complain about Bell's numbers tonight. I hope JJ can figure this out PDQ because this is getting pretty serious.
  22. Cowards knew that we have been in a recent schedule shuffle but wimped out on calling us. Tired of getting butt whippings from the boys from Denton I guess.
  23. Sounds like the same number as last game. Hope that's not just a generic number that we're spitting out these days. Great win. I was kind of getting down a bit on our win possibilities with around five minutes left. I had to leave for dinner near the end here in Houston and we're not broadcast on the Conroe WORD radio station down here anymore. I'll surely be there for the HUGE WKY game next week!
  24. Let us not forget the Lucy, Fred and Ethel chants. What kind of noise did Ricky make anyway? Bababaloo or something like that?
