  1. I have us at 9-4. The defense, young or not will come through in a big way, and the offense will score one hell of a lot of points. Mark this post. If you don't I'll be back to mark it for you. SBC champs again!
  2. Yeah, I was in Bowling Green last year and saw the construction of the south side in progress. It may not be saying much, but the north side of the stadium was already MUCH more impressive than either side of Fouts. I wasn't very impressed with the overall appearance of the school at all though. I didn't see any very large or architectually inpressive buildings, and it is kind of spread out all over the place. Amazing how we seem to just sit here and spin our stadium wheels, while much schools with much less football history gain traction.
  3. Just an off the wall thought which may have been mentioned before, but is it possible that we have a few commercial acres west of I-35 which could be sold off to help jumpstart this thing? This project simply has to happen, and I'm thinking that we need to consider ALL alternatives available in addition to student fees to get this thing rolling ASAP. Anyone with extensive knowledge of the site and its value have any comments?
  4. How do you know so much about his physical tools?
  5. You forgot to mention those crickets. I think we would sell out every game if it weren't for those pesky little critters.
  6. If we were playing regional "name" teams and winning in front of nice crowds, I don't think most people would notice the difference. Sure a few are always going to gripe about ugly toilets and pesky crickets, but I couldn't care less about things like that. It's the opponent, the crowd and the outcome that matter to me. Of course I want a new stadium and can't stand the fact that you need a telescope to see from side to side, but I could live with Fouts if we could just find a way to pack it with boisterous fans and win. I admit that's a lot to ask for based on our history and conference affiliation, but we are only talking about 5-6 games a year in the old lipstick painted pig.
  7. That's ridiculous. Success in athletics can plant the seed which leads to future success in academics down the road. It's a no-brainer that athletic success can lead to alumni donations and visibility that can be difficult to obtain in any other way. No one said we would be "Tier 1" overnight, but getting your school's name pasted all over television and newspapers in a positive light sure doesn't do any harm. It's an evolutionary process not an overnight affair. Btw, it's not a given that the law school will be part of UNT-Dallas. Missing out in the last legislative session may have been a blessing in disguise.
  8. I often have my doubts, but I'm still hopeful that it'll happen in the next five years. We've got to have it if we're going to raise our profile and make good things happen around here. There was an article in the Houston Chronicle the other day about how U of H and TT are competing with each other to become the next "Flagship" school in the state alongside Austin and College Station. If we are going to be mentioned in the same breath with those guys, at a minimum we have got to get the stadium, the law school, and a baseball program started ASAP. A lot to ask for in a short period of time, but I think it's possible that all three could become reality relatively soon.
  9. Maybe he can follow in the footsteps of one of our "suspendees." Anyone know if this guy is actually Desmond Chapman or a relative named Dasmon. It seems like he had a brother with a similar name. http://www.hcnonline.com/site/news.cfm?new...32228&rfi=6
  10. Have you taken him to The Lodge yet? It's an establishment run by the Rizos family, and I know for a fact that they would just love to provide some fine hospitality to one of their home boys.
  11. Here's his bio. Small town boy or not, would be an interesting pick up for '09. http://www.cubuffs.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SP...p;Q_SEASON=2007
  12. Not the giant banger we're all looking for, but would be a really nice pickup. It would be great if we could open up a pipeline of international talent toward Denton. He has got us listed us one of his three choices at the moment. http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/...cruitId%3d54863
  13. Very true. ESPECIALLY when you're talking something as serious as armed robbery. Sounds like somebody could of easily gotten killed in a restaurant takeover situation like that. Parked a hundred yards away or not, in the eyes of the law he's just as guilty of the crime as his two compadres. That is of course if he is guilty and knew what his buddies were up to. Based on his comment about his career being over, it kind of sounds like he did.
  14. Sad. Kind of shows you what running with the wrong crowd can do to you sometimes. Must be a slow news day in Denton to be worthy of that much ink. Ealey didn't have a small part in our little Dodgegate BS situation last year did he? .
  15. This ain't the NBA. A strong six foot six (or seven) guy that can board, play D, and hit some shots in the paint sounds very good to me to go along with Odafuwa (sp?). We may be a little on the short side defensively on occasion next year if you don't consider an improving Justin Howerton (which some people don't), but I think we'll be OK with our overall size down low. It would be great for a six nine to seven foot transfer to appear out of nowhere here, but if he doesn't, we still have five experienced inside guys "listed" at six seven or better which shouldn't leave us in too bad of shape. You don't always have to have a bunch of giants out there to win.
  16. Pooping Grounds would be appropriate.
  17. There are MANY worse D1 basketball venues than Autry and even Texas Hall. Especially Autry, which I've been to dozens of times and which really isn't all that bad considering their fan base. Ever been to a BBall game at Northwestern State? Talk about a Junior High bleacher scene. It's been a decade or so since I've been to Natchitoches, so forgive me if they have a new facility.
  18. Mixed feelings here. I was thinking that NCAA berths by UTA and NMSU would help our CBI cause a little bit, but unfortunately they both didn't happen.
  19. Just bring in a heavy duty industrial chopper and haul the north endzone stands acroos I-35. With a few adjustments, perfect for the behind the plate seats at the new baseball stadium. Scrap the south endzone seats and sell 'em to China.
  20. Why the hell would a school like Morgan State, with a similar record to ours, be an automatic NIT bid team? I know that our odds are extremely uphill for any post season play, but damn, we've got problems in Mean Green country if we can't get the nod over Morgan State for the CBI. P.S. I gave up on the NIT long ago.
  21. I veto that blog also. I think he's being a little too critical in his assessment at this point in time. Looking at the schedule, I think it's entirely possible that we could be 5-2 going into the Troy homecoming game. If we are, no telling what that kind of momentum could do for us. It's just too early to tell.
  22. Good luck Tina! You're probably the last surviving coach who was around when I was still living around campus. Hope things go well for you from here on out. BOL!!
  23. Nope. South Bama will be sitting in the stands wiht a sparse crowd on Tuesday night. In your defense, you had a few good points.
  24. Wow. Talk about a conference stuffed with parity. Take away Memphis and I think we matchup pretty well with Conference USA. The only disadvantage I see with MUTS win is that our odds of somehow sneaking into the CBI probably just went down a notch. Three post season teams out of The Sunbelt would be almost too much to ask for.
  25. So we have 113 post-season teams now. Too bad the NIT reduced their field last year or we would have 121. Would be great if we could squeeze in. Don't think our attendance will help us a lot, but maybe our location and market will. Here's a link about the new tourney. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=3110361
