What Do I Want To See In The Last Two Games?
foutsrouts replied to eulessismore's topic in Mean Green Football
Let the healthy Juniors and Seniors play both ways (and ST's), and I don't think we would be any worse off at all than we are now. Sure hope Dodge knows what he's doing with his "play my recruits" strategy. Not making a whole lot of sense to me, but I'm still giving him until the middle of next season before I start really attacking the guy's strategy. Yesterday was just plain ugly once again. -
Lack of off season conditioning has something to do with it in my opinion. I hope this is one of many areas that Dodge will recognize and address over the coming nine months. If he doesn't, it may not matter much to him.

We're hidden inside the asterisk which should be next to LSU's 6-3 record. Strangely enough, LSU was probably our best game of the season.

What I Think Is Needed To Have A Better Team
foutsrouts replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
So why aren't guys like Rose and Glass getting significant time on the OL if that is one of our major problems? Glass is strong as an ox, and Rose ain't too bad either. I guess it's because they were recruited by the man in black? -
I don't know, try and bring the guy in to meet the team after the Arky State game and let them decide. Quality linemen don't always grow on trees around here. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3687122

I guess one answer would be that TCU is mainly a Texas school, and smu is largely comprised of natives of the Park Cities and people from the North and the East. Also, TCU people are just better all around human beings. Trust me on that. LOL!
-
Could be way overblown, but I know very little about the guy other than what the media put out. It is obviously a difficult subject. For example, when you hear a black man referring to a white man as a "white boy," would it be as bothersome as a white man referring to a black man as a "black boy?" Yes, I know my history, but in this day and age you just have to wonder.

Over. The Utes hang on. Maybe we should be happy that we have Knott, because the Frog's kicking game killed them. Hell of a defensive struggle.
-
TD Utah. 36 seconds left and UT leading by 3.
-
TCU missed another short FG and now it's up to Utah to drive for a TD to win with under 3 minutes left. 10-6.

Very strange that there is no regular tv locally for this game on a Thursday night. The MWC has not really been all that great for TCU as far as local coverage is concerned. Based in their success the last few years, if they were still in USA or even the WAC, I bet they would be getting more coverage. Don't get it.

A 32 team playoff would be nice for the fans, but I have my doubts that a 17 game college football season will ever happen for anyone.

New York Times Article About The Drug Article
foutsrouts replied to Green Dozer's topic in Mean Green Football
I remember seeing the film "REEFER Madness" back when I was around 12-13 years old and we kids sneaked out of the house and went to the River Oaks Theatre midnight movie in Houston. It was quite a shock to me as a kid, but back then in the 70's, it was kind of a cult film and joints were regularly passed row to row in the theatre with impunity. Times have changed. -
Vote Of Confidence In Patrick Cobbs
foutsrouts replied to UNT 90 Grad's topic in Mean Green Football
Anyone catch Cody Spencer fight off a block and make a nice open field special teams tackle for the Jets yesterday? He then proceded to get on his knees, raise up his arms, and scream at the top of his lungs. The microphones picked it up well. Couldn't watch the whole game and don't know if he got any PT at LB yesterday. -
Now, I'll Ask Again....who Can Greet The Team
foutsrouts replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Proud of you guys and gals that are going. Wish I could. -
Great win guys! I heard it on the radio and am currently watching the beginning of the second half. Definitely will stick around to see the incredible end. Could of been a little more convincing (LOL!) but I'll certainly take it. For the first time in a couple of years I will say; LOVE YA DEFENSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope this is the beginning of something very good around here!!

Believe me, I am not defending drug use or anyone that uses drugs no matter the drug, but I'm not sure that someone will be seriously impaired on a Saturday by taking a couple of pot hits on a Wednesday. I think that a lot of it depends on the extent of the drug use and the individual's physical makeup rather than what comes up on a drug test. A person could test positive for pot as a VERY casual user. Unfortunately for the pot heads of the world, the weakest illegal drug(s) is the one that stays in the system the longest. Again, not making excuses for these positive testers in any way, but when you're talking pot, I think the devil is in the details. Hell, I know that when I play a round of golf or shoot a couple of games of pool, I usually play better after a couple of beers. LOL!! Again, NOT DEFENDING DRUG USE OF ANY KIND, but it all depends on the details of what is going on here. I guess that only the insiders have any clue at all in that area at this point.
-
Sorry if I missed it, but did Dodge mention anything about testing himself and his entire coaching staff? If he's going to go beyond requirements and test the entire team, I think that he should step up and take the lead by testing himself and his staff regularly. Besides, most people would say that there are indications the staff in underperforming and we need to rule out drugs as part of the problem.

So you think that someone would literally believe that TD is the "Anti-Jock" sent here by the evil professors to destroy our athletic program? OK. Enough said. LOL!!
-
Sorry if I struck a nerve. It was just a mild attempt at humor in the middle of a pretty messy situation. I have a professor brother who was a multi-sport athlete in college, so I'm very aware that all professors are not anti-athletics.
-
Man, I'm starting to wonder if TD isn't the anti-jock, sent here by the liberal professors who are out to destroy anything and everything athletic. Didn't last year's story make the front page too?
-
Wow. I guess we can't talk much about the ganja gang down in Austin anymore. Based on the time frame of the tests, it sounds likely that they were using (whatever) during the season or at least during two a days. Don't want the guys doing any kind of drugs, but I sure hope this testing doesn't cause more harm than good. Can't help but wonder if the problem contributed to Dodge's 2-18 record here but who knows. Kind of makes you wonder about a lot of things including the timing of the release. Who knows.

I think we should come out and play simple smashmouth Dickeyball this week and surprise the hell out of WKY. It's likely our last chance to play a competitive game this year, and at the very least we could keep the score down if we don't fumble it away 20 times. Other than actually winning a football game, our goal should be to keep the clock running and our defense off of the field as much as possible. Our offense has had enough on the job training at Dodgeball for now. Dickeyball is the way to go. Snowball's chance?
-
No. I think we're in the 2-17 quiet period before people start screaming for other people's heads.
