  1. How can our head coach regularly not show up for a scheduled coach's show? I mean, do we have to be high school in every aspect of the program? Ridiculous! I thought that part of his pay package was based on a weekly radio show? Unbelievable!
  2. How about "BG" for Big George and we can play a Bee Gees song everytime he gets a slam or a block? Ew,Ew,Ew,Ew stayin alive, staying alive.............
  3. Yeah, other than the Dickey bowl years, I guess the closest thing that we have had to a golden age around here was the late 50's, late 60's, and the late 70's. The 1AA late 80's weren't too bad either. We had some good years back then and beat some pretty good opponents. For some reason we played our best in the second half of decades back then. Somehow it doesn't appear that Dodge will revive that tradition this decade.
  4. Wow. We've actually beat two of those ten teams over the past couple of decades. Three if you count the '88 thievery in Austin. I've got a Mean Green cup in my hand at this very moment, and I may have to break down and start singing the UNT fight song.
  5. Why don't we just bring back Matt Simon? He'll likely work for cheap, and this team just might be more suited to playing games in grocery store parking lots. At least Dodge's JC recruits might enjoy the grocery store access during halftime.
  6. If Dodge goes, and it's beginning to look inevitable, I want an experienced head coach if we can find one worth hiring. DeLoach might be OK on an interim basis if Dodge goes during the season, but I've had enough of the experiments.
  7. We win! On an incredible last second extra point.
  8. It has been my understanding that an expungement order in Texas requires EVERY agency in Texas to destroy every shred of evidence related to an arrest including fingerprints and mugshots. It is as if the arrest never occurred. Even the FBI generally (but not always) complys with the expungement order. Also, anyone has access to arrest records if they are not expunged. They are public record. I've checked for employee arrest records at the county courthouse in the past, but now you can easily do it online or better yet through companies like Publicdata.com. If Rucker gets deferred adjudication, he can eventually get the records blocked from disclosure, but I don't think they can be totally expunged.
  9. I agree. The best player on our team right now is a walk on. If we had ten of him we would be in a lot better shape. As far as the big boys are concerned, let's go out and find us some local fatboys and mold 'em into 4th and 5th year linemen!
  10. I was only there for the second half, but it didn't look to be quite a thousand to me. I even did a little counting.
  11. The expungement of an arrest record is no where near that difficult to obtain. I have an attorney in the family who does expungements all the time for felonies and misdemeanors. It's in the statutes and all you need is a willing judge. Personally, I think they should be automatic after a certain period of time when there is no conviction. I mean, it is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, and in the information age that we live in why should a person's life be screwed with if they were not proven guilty? Deferred adjudication is a bit of a different story. It's basically a gift from the criminal justice system.
  12. Certainly not going to defend the guy because he's an admitted thief and should have to pay for his crimes, but I'm not too sure that the amount of money involved should be worthy of a felony. Probably one of the things that I think the legislature screwed up a few years ago when they created the "State Jail Felony" thing. Seems like they reduced some felonies to misdemeanors and raised some misdemeanors to felonies. I knew of a guy when I was in school who was charged with felony car burglary when he reached through an open window of a car in a bar parking lot and grabbed a half empty pack of cigarettes off of the dashboard. Anyway, I doubt very much that Rucker will end up with a felony conviction from this. I hope he learns his lesson.
  13. No way was Sam the superior team. I guess we'll find out more on that when they come to Denton. I hope those announcers weren't the same Sam Houston announcers that I listened to during the first half. Easily the worst radio crew that I have ever heard. I had no idea what was going on in the game. They never said the score, made up players names, gave no detail at all, and referred to us as the "Mountaineers." Someone corrected them and they finally settled on the "Eagles." Makes you really appreciate Hank and George when you hear something like that.
  14. Nice win. I got there at halftime. Obviously great games from Odufuwa, White and Johnson. Most everyone else seemed a little off. IMO, we clearly had the better team, but this was pretty close to a nail biter. We did an EXCELLENT job in the closing minutes clamping down on defense. The block by Tramiel was awesome, and those two FT's by Stewart at the end were crucial. White's FT's clinched it. Have a lot of confidence in our small guards, and they did a much better job on perimeter defense tonight. The officiating pretty much sucked. Stewart's offensive goal tending call was BS, as were several fouls on both sides (mainly against us). I've been to their FB stadium several times, but this was my first time in there BB arena. Not too bad. Kind of like a smaller version of the Frog's arena in FW. Probably no more than a thousand people in attendance. We may have some problems defensively against certain opponents this year, as we still seem to be a little small overall to me, but hopefully that can be overcome. Again, nice win. Time to sleep.
  15. Has the internet not yet worked its way down to Sam? Oh well, I'm heading out to the game.
  16. I wish I could see the evidence that our coaches are very very good. I can pick out a handful of players that I am relatively pleased with, but I really don't see a single aspect of our program that I am positively impressed with. I'm just sitting and hoping that things somehow work out next year. We shall see.
  17. You wouldn't be referring to this guy would you? http://media.www.tri-liteonline.com/media/...n-3455457.shtml
  18. 11 turnovers is definitely better than I anticipated for us, but it appears that we may have some defensive problems this year. Then again I wasn't able to watch it, and the Okies may have just been unconcious from three land.
  19. We scheduled it on a Sunday because Bye is a religious school and we desperately hoped they wouldn't show on the Sabbath. Maybe we should try that more often.
  20. I've been there and they have quite a few, but it's a bit of a turnoff that they all talk like Sarah Palin.
  21. I'll be heading back to North Texas late on Thursday afternoon from the Lake Conroe area and plan on catching the game at Sam Houston. Unfortunately, the Okie State game tonight isn't listed as being televised on Fox Sports here (Suddenlink Cable). Wonder if there's coverage in The Woodlands or the northern Houston area?
  22. Probably a good move especially if Howerton can stay healthy. The way Howerton is looking so far, it sure would be nice if he had another year to continue his development. I guess we will find out a little more about him on Monday.
  23. Sounds wonderful. We open at currently undefeated Ball State and also go to currently undefeated Alabama. Maybe we should invest in some tackle dummies and teach these guys the grade school fundamentals of tackling before those games? Wrap 'em up guys! You guys ain't NFL'ers who can bank on shoulder pad shots to bring the opposition down. Learn to tackle! Deloach, are you listening?
  24. Good post. We run a high school spread while they run a college spread. For one thing, stop spending half the team's time looking over at big daddy for instructions. Too distracting. Will he wake up is the question.
  25. DD's stubborn retention of an assistant(s) that needed to go was a MAJOR reason for his firing. It appears that Dodge is meandering down a similar trail.
