  1. Is it used by SLC also? If so, it's another high school tactic that probably needs to be purged from the system. Somtimes I think that many of the things we have designed to confuse the opposition tend to confuse our guys more than the other guys.
  2. The next PC with more speed and fewer injuries sounds like a better fit to me.
  3. Leads the nation in yards per carry, second in the nation in scoring (six points behind Navy QB), and has ZERO fumbles. Not too shabby. Don't want to wear him out of course, but I'd like to see him get the ball 30 times a game and see what he REALLY can do.
  4. Congrats to all! The first of many great days to come I'm sure. Only problem now is, that I've officially got to come up with a new alias by the end of next season. Oh well, I'll think of something.
  5. Tony Dorsett? Tony Delk? Tom DeLay? Tim Daly? Tyne Daly? That's all I've got. I must be having a REALLY boring day, or this team has got me so beaten down that I don't even want to discuss football right now. Probably both.
  6. Ty Detmer? We are talking sub-six foot former QB's from Texas right?
  7. It's the banjos. Ever since I saw Deliverance I've never been able to stand the damn banjos.
  8. I agree that we have had problems (including injuiries) on the defensive line, but isn't it the coaches who decided to go with a bulked up 225 lb defensive end? If he is the problem, there are other options. Two hundred forty something defensive ends are common, but two hundred twenty something defensive ends are a rarity.
  9. Hope you're right, but our offense IMO was MUCH better two years ago with a mainly DD crew than it is this year. The only positive I can find after the past couple of weeks, is that our offense and special teams are better in some ways than they were last year. The defense is going to have to make a quick turnaround, and start playing like they did earlier in the year, for me to say that they are significantly better than they were under the dreaded Mendoza.
  10. Naw, we supposedly have the best OL in the SBC, but we don't need to play power football in any situation. We easily finessed our way to first downs, touchdowns, and victories at SLC, so why not do the same here? It's all the same on every level, isn't it?
  11. I don't think that age is much of a factor since they are both 21 years old.
  12. And two of those wins were against an emerging WKU. Dodge owns Kentucky. At least for the moment.
  13. Dickey is so far gone now that he is not even in the rearview mirror anymore. DD is not an excuse, Mattress Mac is not an excuse, Fouts/facilities are not an excuse, talent is not an excuse, the fan turnout is not an excuse, and crickets and urinals are not an excuse. I guess we'll just have to look elsewhere for our excuses.
  14. Maybe the anti-WAC group will now change their tune and want us to go WACky since the SBC has clearly gotten too tough for us? On the other hand, Idaho would probably whip us 70-7.
  15. Tune has done a nice job. If he had some coaches who would call the right plays for him he would be doing even better.
  16. The hills will come alive....with the sound of music....
  17. I'll take some "very very average" players and coaches here any day of the week. Do you know where we can find some more of these average players and coaches? I guess that would make us a 6-6 team. Bring on the average!!
  18. There is no excuse for giving up 700 yards to anyone. You can't really zero in on one area because we are so bad everywhere. Our guys tackle and cover like they have never played before, and we make the opposing players all look like future first round draft choices. Totally inexplicable.
  19. No doubt that TD is for some ridiculous reason getting special treatment, because ANYONE else would be axed after this kind of job performance. I just do not understand this guy's inability to learn and adapt after two and a half years, and I have very little doubt that he will be with us for at least 4. If he must stay, someone needs to contact Hayden Fry or some other retired coach and see if he will let TD move in with him during the off season. Someone needs to take him under his wing and teach him the basic fundamentals of coaching at this level. He just doesn't seem to be getting it on his own.
  20. Could be a great pick up and a nice replacement for Tramiel. Don't know if I can make it or not, but I'm going to be in Athens this Saturday morning, and maybe I can swing over to Jacksonville and take a look at Lon Morris vs. The Dallas Diesel Saturday afternoon. I'll be listening to the Troy game, but I AM ready for some B-ball. http://www.eastexasports.com/index.php?topic=63.0
  21. I felt like I was coming down with something earlier in the day on Saturday, but I stayed until a couple of minutes after TD decided to give away our last timeout. Now I feel like I've got some kind of a damn swine flu disease for my efforts. Shorts and T Shirts don't always work on breezy late October nights.
  22. 1954 Midwestern State, last game of the season. Oh the memories! But I don't think tailgates were created yet.
  23. My excitement for this season certainly has waned after Saturday's loss, but I'm still going to mentally stick around as far as the program is concerned. New stadium and better talent are what's keeping me going, but I do find myself shifting my thoughts to b-ball. If we beat Troy I will start jumping up and down again with enthusiasm, but if we get blown out, don't think I'll be making the trek to Denton other than for the Army game.
  24. I don't care if Tune has to wear concrete shoes and runs the 40 in 8.4. I think the Senior has earned his chance to be the starter. Let Riley learn and heal with limited playing time.
  25. Nice crowd, but I went to both games and the Frog crowd appeared to be close to twice the Fouts crowd. But then again the Fouts layout makes it hard to see anything with any clarity.
