  1. Josh might dispute that, but he obviously has some limitations. Hope Thomas can get it going like he did at the beginning of the season against some of the weaker competition. We certainly need someone else to step up and put it in the hole.
  2. Can't argue with the jerk comment. Before he went to smu, he was just a regular middle class apartment kid raised by a single mom in West Houston, who also happened to be one Hell of a high school football player. By the time he finished at smu, the jerkism had crept in pretty strongly IMO.
  3. IF TD doesn't do his job next year, and Little James transfers to North Texas to be closer to home, wouldn't it be ironic if we hired Leach the following year after Leach and Little James take next year off? I'd love to see the look on Big James' face if that happened. I know some people who feel they were financially burned by him a few years back who would definitely get a good laugh.
  4. I've got no problem at all with TT, Mangrum, and Holmen (w/o ET) getting big minutes, because where the hell are we going to get the points if Josh isn't breaking out for 30? We've got some defensive/rebounding woes on this team, so we need as many points as we can get. I just hope that Thomas, or possibly someone else, can prove that they can score consistently. If not, I think we've got no choice but to go with those guys.
  5. Yeah, I've seen less games than I normally do this year (4), but our boarding and interior defense have not been very pretty at all this year. Good shooting 3 point teams are going to kill us if we don't get better on the inside, because that will open them up even more down low.
  6. I'm GUESSING that it's one of those common Bball things where you fall and catch yourself with the palm of your hand which can result in strained ligaments in your wrist. I know that has happened to me more than once, and it can be fairly painful and lingering. We definitely need him back sooner rather than later, but I hope he gets rested for a couple of games if necessary. It might payoff down the road to get some more PT for guys like Holmen, Spencer, Shorter, and even Knox while it's fairly early in the season. Still don't really know for sure what we've got in Spencer.
  7. Yep, we've got some problems, but we are now missing SEVEN out of our top TEN guys from last year's team when you exclude Mangrum. Without a doubt we need a go to guy and that looks to be TT at this point. Nice job by Holmen, but he's about the only guy that's showing some kick butt play at this point as far as the newcomers go, and he's a barely 18 year old Freshman. I guess it's hard to complain about his shot jacking tendencies after this game since he basically won it for us. Hope he continues to build confidence, because we are going to need some great performances from some unexpected places this year if we're going to play after Hot Springs. Certainly hope that Josh picks it up again because we must have steady play from him. We shall see on this upcoming road trip.
  8. Unless it's just me, I think we've got a failure to communicate due to a broken link.
  9. Yeah, things looked a bit more promising at the beginning of the season when we could say that we had all 5 starters returning along with a bunch of promising newcomers. Excluding Mangrum, at this point we are now missing 6 of our top 10 players from last year's team. I still think we can be a good team, but somebody has got to make up for all of that lost point production and I'm not sure who that is going to be. I guess we have to hope that TT continues his improvement, and that someone like Thomas can find a way to consistently put the ball in the hole. Any more injuries down low and we could be in big trouble.
  10. "That Ben Knox transfers to a Division III school, thus opening another scholarshiip for us" There may be a winter storm brewing out there right now, but that's a pretty cold thing to say for Christmas. Give the kid a chance. We've got quite a few other problems on this team at the moment besides Mr. Knox.
  11. Other. Someone finally recognized that we owned some serious acreage between I35E and I35W and had the vision to begin the process of doing something with it.
  12. No I think it's Jason White. Must be that new rule that allows you seven years of playing time out of fifteen since high school.
  13. Yeah, they've been too rough on us lately. A bunch of bullies.
  14. Along with a healthy Brown , we need a healthy Mangrum and for TT to get out of his overall funk and play with the kind of potential he has showed in the past. We've got to play better (and smarter) three ball if we're going to get this offense really going IMO. Would be nice if Mangrum showed the same stuff this year that he showed against Middle last year before the injury when he looked like an All-American. I guess he's about the only one who knows for sure how well his body is holding up. As far as the bigs go, I love the apparent improvement of Odufuwa and think that Tramiel will come along and show why he was projected all conference. Holmen is going to be special, but too bad we don't have Hogans to work him in a little more slowly. No doubt that we've got to keep the big guys healthy if we're going to be as good as many of us had hoped. Hope we get this thing going well and little more settled during this four game home stretch.
  15. I think we'll get better. If I have any complaint about JJ's teams, it is that they tend to be slow starters. It seems to take awhile for us to get the rotation together and decide who gets the minutes. Having Holmen basically come in and replace Hogans, and deciding when to insert the new bigger guards is just going to take a little longer than I had hoped I guess. Hopefully Mangrum and Dom can get and stay healthy. This team needs some three point bombers to play with the big boys.
  16. It's very relevant, because if Alabama beats Texas by more than they beat us we can claim to be number 2. Come to think of it, some people already think we are number 2.
  17. Yeah, I think we are going to miss Hogans this year. Hopefully the young talent can make up for it to a certain extent. Holmen is very talented, and I hope that JJ uses him in the best way possible.
  18. Somehow, I don't think that Mr. Orbison's headline song will be playing first fiddle at any of our women's games for awhile.
  19. All I can say is that the game tonight brought back memories of 1988. Not so blatant, but same result.
  20. Very true. The shorter the field the more problems we seem to have. Coaching? QB's? Inherent flaw in Dodge's basically unaltered SLC offense at this level? Don't know, but I'm sure all three are contributing factors.
  21. Would be nice if we could have a fair competition for the position. Would be nice if RV would hire an Assistant Head Coach who reports directly to RV. Would be nice if the three of them sat down and voted on who the starting QB should be at the end of 2 a days. Would be nice to live in the World of Oz.
  22. And getting someone with a leg who can elevate wouldn't hurt much either.
  23. Either that, or maybe we're having a big money exhibition "bodybag game" against SLC?
  24. Thompson should have fallen down and screamed "CONCUSSION!!!" on the last play of the game. Or maybe we're only allowed one of those every two years.
  25. Play it safe and go with Austin College. Well, maybe not THAT safe.
