I was curious as well. I saw stats from '08-'09 over in Japan, but nothing for '09-'10. Looked like he did pretty well, but his shooting percentage was nothing to write home about. Here's what he appears to be up to. http://www.linkedin.com/pub/michael-d-sturns-ii-president-ceo-offtheglass-co/18/343/b68

Yeah, I think he was only here his Sophmore and Junior years. Left to play overseas. Think it was Israel. Don't recall where he was his Freshman season.

Wow, I can see a lineup with a big six-ten Morgan, an athletic six-eight Holmen, a lights out shooting six-six McGhee, a six-four disher in Alzee, and whoever else jumps into the rotation two years from now. Not only may we not miss a beat after next year, we may actually pick one up. Come on J'mison, we love ya here, and let's keep the tradition going!

Welcome To North Texas, Ronald Mcghee?

Very nice pickup. We really needed to a guy who can fill it up from the outside, and possibly be a "go to guy" type scorer for three years. Is he six three or six six? Quite a range in height I'm seeing.. -

I'm a numbers guy myself, and I don't think I could be creative enough to make numbers balance like that. Those guys are freaking good! -
Could Buter Play For The National Title?
foutsrouts replied to UNT90's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I think Buter can do it. It won't be against Balor now though. My money is on Buter over Duk in the final. Buter just has too much going for them, and Duk got lucky against Balor. Interesting Final 4. -
Could Buter Play For The National Title?

I go with Butler or a very strong Baylor team that is peaking at the right time. On the other hand, WV is looking damn tough at the moment. -
I feel that Johnson and Hogans are probably worthy of more than 15 minutes a piece, but I guess we'll have to see how they look coming off of their injuries. Edwards at 20 seems a bit heavy to me based on his recent JC performance, but I don't think we really know what we've got there yet. Hope these guys are ready to work their butts off in the off season, because they've got to know there's going to be some serious battles in the Fall for minutes.

Nuts or not, I think Josh should have a bit of a different role next season. I don't think anyone is saying to bench him, it's just that this team will likely have a diffent chemistry next season, and I don't see that playing White pretty much from start to finish again is the way to go. Defense is a part of the game you know, and I'm sure that a lot of the PT will be based on matchups. I also agree with another poster that this is probably a moot point, because I think it is very unlikely that Josh won't be a starter again next year. Regardless, I suspect a healthy DOM means less minutes for White no matter how the minutes are structured, and I don't think I want too many minutes taken away from TT based on the way he played down the stretch. With a little improvement in a couple of areas, I wouldn't be surprised if TT gets a serious look at the next level.

Nice argument going on here. Luckily we (LOL!) have 6-7 months to figure this all out. As far as my opinion is concerned, I lean toward bringing Josh off the bench as the sixth man at this point in time. The guy was incredible for us this year, and won SO MANY games for us, but with what we have coming back, I'm not so sure that this would not be the best thing. That is not to say that Josh would not get 25+ minutes in my scenario, but I really like to see us starting out with a little more size on the perimeter. Josh and Dom together for extended minutes showed some flaws in '08-'09. Edwards vs. Hogans etc.? We shall see what we've got.

Definitely very happy to have him on board, but that article didn't really do much to clarify his numbers at Lon Morris this year. I'm also kind of wondering how he will fit in next year if his goal is to play facing the basket. I know Big George is our host at the post next season, but I was kind of thinking of Edwards as more of a down low muscle type guy. Anyone have any thoughts or insight on his skills?

I really like the upside for Holmen. If he really has a 42 inch vertical along with his other talents, he sure should be able to develop into a great rebounder/defensive player as well as become a serious scorer down low. KSU's quick rebounding and putbacks, as well as our inability to do the same pretty much kept us from having a chance to get into that game. Sure hope Holmen has a great off season. Incidentally, did anyone catch one of the CBS announcers (forgot which one) near the end of the game question in dismay that Holmen, as one of the best players in Texas, chose to go to school down in Denton at North Texas? Kinda hacked me off since I wasn't exactly in a great mood at that point anyway.

Or maybe just bum a stub from an angry Floridian and get in for free? -
So should we go back to the Southland? No, SHSU usually wins by the three ball, but that wasn't the case today against Baylor. Just one of those things where they managed to keep it close with good defense, and Baylor being fairly cold from the field in the first half. Wish we would have had a major three ball game equalizer this year, but that just didn't happen. Personally, although he started out slow this year, I think TT was under utilized a bit this season in that area. Sure would be nice if we could find a bomber to come off the bench next year. Probably wouldn't of mattered much today though.

K State's late season competition was bound to help them to a certain extent. A couple of Kansas games plus many other tough games can get you ready for the post-season. Not easy to do, but it sure would be nice if we could schedule a competitive OOC game during the last quarter of next season. There probably is a bit of a preparation difference in an SBC vs a Big 12 schedule when you're getting down to tourney time.

Forget the Mitsubishi, but that's a binocular view compared to some of the seats I've had at Cowboy Stadium. But you're right, those seats are pretty ridiculous. -
Yes, I am very proud of the guys, and I am very sorry to have to say goodbye to Eric in particular. Since we're talking about next year, this is how I would like our lineup to look next season. Of course this could be altered due to additions, subtractions, and kickass improvements from certain players. Down Low: Odufuwa/Spencer, Hogans/Holmen/Edwards (let the best man win) PG: Johnson/Williams/White (I really like Josh, but I would like to see the other two guys give it a try at the point) SG: Thompson/White (sounds like a demotion for White, but I want to see TT as the go to guy next year. He looked NBAish) OG: Shorter/Mangrum (again, let the best man win) We should be very deep next year. Today, it looked to me like we lacked the quickness that Hogans and Johnson can provide both inside and out. Especially in regard to boards/offensive putbacks for Hogans, and offensive penetrations for Johnson. Hopefully there will be another addition as well. Nothing to hang our heads about, but they were just the better team today.
-
At least it's too late for them to slam our RPI and give us a lower seeding because of this.
-
A dozen or less turnovers, something like 8+ threes, a solid game in BOTH halves from Josh, a serious game from Mangrum, and the recent usual from the other guys. These things happen and we win. Bank on it!
-
Depending on the year in question, roughly 1 out of 5 teams played post-conference season back then, as compared to roughly 1 out of 3 teams these days when considering the NCAA, NIT, and CBI. Different times back when you didn't have all the conference tourneys.

Unt Mean Green As Compared To Sam Houston State.

Nothing wrong with being young and cocky. The Fab 5 was definitely young and cocky, and they did pretty well. Besides, Baylor isn't all that young anyway. I think they start 1 Senior, 2 Juniors, and 2 Sophomores. I have them going far in my bracket. -

I agree. Baylor is big and athletic. Glad we avoided them. -

What's that supposed to be? Charlie Sheen robbing a crackhouse? Please stop trashing the board with your banner, and take it back to Manhattan where it belongs. It's not real pretty.
